Symmetry.
I still hate the Japs for what they did on January 7th.
Good thing we had the blacks to help build the war machine or weâd all be speaking Muslim.
Regardless of what happens the rest of the way MLF has exceeded all expectations by far. I also really like Gute's aggressiveness. He's not been perfect by any means but if he makes a mistake he just keeps moving forward instead of living with it forever like his predecessor.
I'm not sure Matt LaFleur gets the credit he deserves for revitalizing the Packers. I know it's only been 19 games, but he's 15-4 overall and 7-0 in the division. In the Packers 63 previous games they were 30-32-1 overall, including only 27-24-1 when Rodgers played the full game.

Masterful job Sunday of exposing Mike Zimmer's defense.

One has to like the fact that MLF is going for his 8th straight division victory, against Detroit, this Sunday, since becoming Head Coach.

And still learning on the job.

So far, he's demonstrated a knack for winning close games and for winning some games they really shouldn't have. We'll have to see if that regresses to the mean, but it often suggests someone willing to make adjustments to the specific situation.
The four games he's lost were
1-2. Two blowouts to the Niners on the road - a team they just don't match up well with.
3. A complete offensive meltdown against the Chargers when the strength of the 2019 team (the two offensive tackles) got completely overrun.
4. A loss to the Eagles at home where Rodgers threw an interception that hit MVS in the chest at the goal line with less than 30 seconds left. MVS had his arms wrapped up by the Eagles CB at the time. This was also a game where Adams was going wild but hurt his toe and missed a large portion of the second half. This is the only close game the Packers have lost under MLF.
The common denominator in all the losses has been getting gashed against the run by the defense.
Eagles 33 carries for 176 yards
Chargers 38-159
Niners playoff 42-285
Niners 22-112 (but George Kittle 6 catches for 129)
Basically, the biggest factor in these was poor ILB play (or interior DL play) in the middle of the field.
MLF, much like Shanahan and McVay are showing that an absence of 'Cho in your coaching style works really well with the modern athlete. Players want to be treated as equals, and he seems to have mastered that.
I suspect he'll use the red zone struggles Sunday as a learning experience. Need to pound the ball in that situation and not overthink it.

You've got a 255lbs RB, a 240lbs HB...you've got a yard or less on the goal line, don't over complicate it...
Agreed. At the very least, pretend like you are not over complicating it. Nothing chaps my hide more than lining up in shotgun with multiple WR's on the 1/2 yard line.
Aaron Rodgers has fully embraced all the pre-snap motion in Matt LaFleur's offense: "For a long time here I didn't want any motion and Mike didn't like motion ... For us, it is a part of our offense. It's all about stressing the defense pre-snap."

That seems like a big deal!
Wait, what?!? Putting stress on a Zimmer (or any) defense pre-snap pays dividends?!?!?
Naawwww.....say it ain't so.

I'm glad 12 read this board in the off-season and decided to RTFO like his HC says it should be.

Yeah, he needs to always be on the field in that situation. Even if they decide to throw it, make the defense think he's getting the ball.

Thought the exact same thing. PA to Adams....

Thanks for posting that. Love the flexibility we get with Jones and Williams having serious receiving skills.

That along with an article in The Atlantic this week really shows the changes in the offense. Canât get enough of these analyses of the schemes. Just the numerous, subtle, but impactful changes from the same formation.
Great stuff
KFAN has been a joy to listen to this season for obvious reasons.
But one delicious item has been the absolute brow beating of the fact that the Vikings have nothing but old coaches with dated schemes and ideas. Capers name is brought up along with Zimmer of course.
Another name pissing them off? Matt LaFleur. They have major Penis envy of his creativity and running innovative offenses. They have said on multiple occasions LaFleur makes Zimmer look like an idiot and he has absolutely no answers

Or do a PA to the lead blocker. The LB filling the hole has to try to avoid this lead blocker to make a tackle on the RB. Have the guy shed the block and leak into the end zone. It's tough to stop.

You know who else thinks MLF makes Zimmer look like an idiot? ZIMMER!!!
How else can you explain those lame handshakes?

Zimmer knew he got schooled and he also knew that Zygi said:
"We built you a new state- of- the- art stadium, stacked the roster with talent and have a golden, err yellow, opportunity to re-take control of the NFC North while the Packers are going through the dysfunction of a regime change"
Then ZimZam got swept by the new guy, including the embarrassment National TV last December. Good thing they extended the entire Triangle of ineptitude
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss:
....
Recently rewatched that last December game on my DVR and it's a thing of beauty. Announcers and crowd hyping up the Viking chances, we have a horrible start and turn the ball over three times and we still punk them. Love the occasional "Go Pack Go" cheers followed by booing...
@Grave Digger posted:Great news! People wanted a young innovator who would do things differently than MM, this is your guy. Not a retread. Good news that heâs keeping Pettine, now our guys get to build on what they accomplished and move forward. Coaches that favor one side or the other often fail because they donât hire well for the opposite coordinator.
Iâm excited to see where this team goes from here. The good news is that our team was incredibly dysfunctional and we still won basically 7 games, so solving the dysfunction and were right back in the playoff hunt. MFer is going to have some tools to work with!
This aged well.
Satan is Smert
Well, the devil is in the details.
I thought the devil was in Miss Jones....
Me remembering that there was media reports that the Packers were interesting in hiring Pat FItzgerald
God, SOO happy that didn't happen. Jughead coach who'd get outcoached in the NFL from the get go.
I like MLF's better than Jughead
@Timpranillo posted:Me remembering that there was media reports that the Packers were interesting in hiring Pat FItzgerald
"Did you hire Fitzgerald?"
"Yes."
"What did it cost?"
"Everything."
(Slow response while I catch up...) With a regular-season record of 16-3 and a playoff record of 1-1, there's not much to complain about with MLF. One little thing against the Saints that was a smert move was how he waited... and waited... and waited until the play clock was down to :01 to toss out the challenge flag on Jones' non-TD. He had the challenge to use, but instead of stopping the clock right away by tossing the red rag and leaving extra time out there, he held it and let the clock burn away until the last possible second. Yes, he lost the challenge, but the continued clock run was a really good move there. And the fact someone alerted Rodgers to not run a play was also heads-up ball. Veteran coach move by him/booth coaches.
