This whole debate is too funny.  To say NFL players deserve free lifetime health care and yet the push is on to take away lifetime health care for Congressmen, Senators, Federal Judges, Etc.  Who is really more important to the country?   Let's get real here.

It's not about who is more important, it's about who has a greater risk of long term chronic health issues. I don't hear about politicians lives being wrecked by  carpal tunnel syndrome.

That said, I wouldn't personally push for removing life-time health care from congressman, senators, etc.

Did you ever think of the necessity for silicon injections after all that lip service?

They are our servants.  They should get the same retirement and health care the people get.  Social Security.

I'm not saying they deserve it, but neither do NFL players who play a game.  NFL players don't really have an impact on our lives like congressmen/women and senators.  Hell, farming is a dangerous occupation too, but they don't get lifetime insurance.  Name me one NFL player who has put food on your table. Logging is an even more dangerous occupation.  Name me one NFL player who has supplied you with wood to build your house.  It's all about perspective.

The sports business is often a case of an extremely small number of employees earning even billions of dollars.  Whatever profit doesn't go to the employees goes to the owners.

Financial award, such as perhaps lifetime health care, is not a function of how important a job may be (such as loggers), it is a matter of business.  A single NFL player probably draws more profit than 10,000 loggers and that is what drives their disparity in compensation.

I guess I'm not sure what's wrong with NFL players getting lifetime health insurance? YOU are not paying for it, the NFL pays for it.

The fans pay for every damn thing the NFL has.  TV contracts, ticket sales, concessions...

“Your” money also goes to pay for Jerry Jones’ hookers and blow and Bob Kraft’s “spa experience”, I don’t see anyone having a shit fit about that.

Regarding the weed aspect, per what I read this morning there is now a 2 week testing period, instead of 4 months, just before Training Camp. The level to be detected goes up from 35 to 150 (dont recall the name of the measurement). Plus, no more suspensions, just fines for at least the first two times caught.

As a former union local president, I have a problem with that close vote. When we took strike votes or contract approval, a close vote is NOT a good sign.

With regard to the NFL players...you’re adults. Read the fucking fine print dumbshit. Voting has consequences. You don’t get a do over when someone smarter than you explains all them big words.

Voting isn’t a right, it’s a responsibility — whether it’s for a president, a labor agreement or the local dog catcher.
