Having someone with speed who knows how to return punts doesn't hurt either. We seem to have problems finding those guys sometimes.

Who was our last consistent, decent punt returner? Cobb, Alan Rossum?

Looked like the front of his helmet hit the ground, but yeah it wasn't overly violent. He was definitely glazed over. And no doctor would recommend sprinting to the locker room after such a play. I think Pat was trying to pacify the crowd with that foolishness.

Slow motion versus real time. In slow motion it doesn't look like much, but in real time, the head going down fast and suddenly stopping causes the brain to rattle around inside the skull.  Classic concussion.

The run back was great but if he had been rattled by the hit and fumbled the ball it would have been a disaster. I wish we had Ervin back. He was not a liability.

I'm not arguing it wasn't a concussion. But on second look, I see that his helmet indeed did not hit the ground. I'd agree with the sudden stop though, or whiplash effect. Makes you wonder if helmet contacting ground may have actually been a preferred outcome. But he was definitely MIA by the look in his eyes and the staggering.
