Earlier today the team that BUCKY just crushed, the fighting Illini beat Maryland at Maryland 78-67

Actually the game was at Madison Square Garden.  Not really a home game but Maryland traveled less then Illinois.

And that makes 3 wins in a row since Gard should have been fired.  Where are the nattering nabobs of negativity?

Must be very frustrating for Happ. I saw a clip of him hitting free throw after free throw in warm ups. He was in the Kohl Center at 10:30 shooting but then went 1-5 on FT in the game.

Present and accounted for. Was attending a memorial service for our neighbors 1 year old, so wasn’t able to watch the game.

Heres what I know. The system they run is no longer watchable, at least to me, and Greg Gard’s coaching has yet to draw improvement from a single player under his watch. These kids just aren’t getting better, and just because Michigan was stupid, and Illinois and Northwestern can’t shoot doesn’t mean shit as far as my opinion of him is concerned. The program will not return to where Bo Ryan left it until a new coach is coaching the Badgers.

Here are a few other things I know- you’re petty. Really ****ing petty. You offer neither perspective nor acumen that is worth the read. Not even original observation. You use your status as a mod to try to silence opposition opinion and you’re completely prejudiced. You’re trash, and have always been trash.

Gard hasn't  improved anyone under his watch???? I watch every minute of every game. If you havent seen improvement from Reuvers from last year to this year, then u have blinders on. Reuvers actually improves every game he plays. Davison has improved as well, he's  still adjusting to not having the ball in his hands as much as he did last year and he likes having ball. He is very clutch in late shot clock shots, creating for himself.

Next year we'll get back to "Bo Ball"......we'll actually have 5 guys on the floor that can shoot the 3 at all times. Reuvers and Potter/King/Ford will replace Happ and Iverson. While i understand how great Happ is.....he is a black hole for the swing offense because he cannot shoot outside of 5 ft. We have 2 guys most of the time these days that their defender gets to park inside the lane and camp out and help out on any penetration from others.

For my opinion of Gard to change they need to finish strong and make a dent in the tournament. Possible, but not likely.

As for the “we need to return to Bo Ryan type success” commentary I think thats a lot to ask given his overall winning percentage especially in the BT.

But they can find someone much better than Gard.   Decent players are not going to want to play at UW under this system or him and Gard has not proven he can elevate good players to great players like Bo did.   That’s the only way this approach works.  Otherwise, you need to find a HC that can recruit decent players and adjust your offensive scheme to their talents.

I don't know whether there is a problem with guys improving. You could argue both sides. It depends how much weight you put on the 2015 freshman class. This was the Pritzl, Illikainen, C. Thomas, Iverson, and Van Vliet class. That class has turned out to be nothing short of awful. Illikainen and Pritzl were 4 star recruits. The lowest rated guy, Iverson, turned into the biggest contributor. As Steamboat said, he can't shoot outside of 2 feet. It's one thing for a 6'11" guy like Happ to have that problem, it's another one for a 6'5" guy. And, when you play Happ and him together, it just clogs the lane. Pritzl is so weak as a ballhandler he can't play big minutes. Thomas has played 700 minutes in 4 years. The other two are obviously gone. When you put a third of your scholarships over a 4 year period into one class and have 5 guys that look like a D3 team, that's a recipe for a disaster.

The other classes have all shown improvement, but the performance of that class has a domino effect. The team goes South for a year and Tyler Herro decommits. Recruiting gets harder overall. Instead of building on the idea that Wisconsin can send guys to the NBA (at least Dekker and Frank will play for 6-8 years as reserves), it turned back the clock to Europe is your ceiling guys.

If Trice and Davidson keep shooting like they did yesterday, and hopefully Pritzl too, and with Happ and Reuvers in the post, I think these guys can make a dent.

Every season is a work in progress. We just beat an undefeated Michigan and are on a 3 game winning streak.  Gard deserves credit for that, just like he deserved criticism for the sloppy losses before that.  We should enjoy it.

The goal with this team is to keep them from being too much of a one-man team.  I think he's working on that, and it seems to be working.  Give him a chance.

And **** 'em Bucky!!!

I'm actually pretty impressed with what Gard has done. 2 Sweet 16s balanced by 1 really down year that talent was down plus they had 2 key injuries to kill any chances of getting onto the bubble.  I think they'll get to the tourney this year and have a decent shot at getting to the 2nd weekend.  No, they're not getting back to 2014/15 levels anytime soon, but it took Bo over a decade to produce teams of that quality.

You’re missing the forest for the trees guys... Reuvers is stronger, and more mature, but there isn’t anything discernible different about is Gabe. Davidson is not an improved player from last year. Nothing close. And they have to run everything through Happ as a result.

They just beat two bad teams... and MU was stupid in allowing one on one for Happ. This doesn’t make them better. It just prolongs the inevitable. They don’t pass the eye test... they’re not a Tournament team.

They don't  pass the eye test?. I'll get a good look on Tuesday in Lincoln, front row seats. ...i'll let u know what i see. They beat two bad teams (ok..... thats a good thing) and beat an UNDEFEATED Michigan. If Happ could shoot FTs at a 70% clip vs 45%, they would be 17-3 right now. I suppose its Gard’s fault that Happ absolutely sucks at FT shooting.

Badgers return to #24 in the AP and #23 in the Coaches polls.

I see road losses at  Minnesota, Michigan, and maybe Ohio State.  MSU at home will be tough too.   If they can win the rest that gets them to 21 and 10 and a 6th or 7th seed in the NCAA.  Of course a 1st game loss in the B1G Tournament could get them seeded lower.

It may have changed since Saturday but both Sagarin and KenPom have the Badgers ranked in the top 13. That's the opposite of the historical trend where the polls have them high but analytics rank them low.

I don't think they are anywhere near that good. I'm not as down on them as Music is, but there is no way they are a 3 or 4 seed. They look like a 7 or 8 seed that wins one game in the NCAA tournament and then gets ousted by the 1 or 2 seed.
