It just looked like they were mentally overwhelmed in too many situations during the game. From players to coaches. I don't know that you can fix that. Is it the youth? Shouldn't be the case for the older vets but there is a lot of inexperience on the field and on the sideline. The alternative is that they are collectively too soft mentally in crunch time.
We've seen them overcome a lot of adversity, and to a degree they did as well on Sunday. But to your point, the Jones situation was really startling. I seriously wonder if he didn't beg off going back on the field. For a guy who's been so clutch and explosive, that knocked the wind out of my sails, so I can't imagine what it did to the bench.
The Holmgren Packers had their own huge hurdle to jump, and it turned out they didn't need to face their biggest nemesis in the 1996 playoffs. They essentially willed their way to a SB starting on the flight home from Dallas after losing again. There's so much fluctuation on rosters now that a 3rd time will be a challenge in itself. They're nearing Bills or Andy Reid Eagles territory by losing 2 in a row. A trip back next year will demand some fortitude and resolve. I really hope we don't look back on this opportunity and regret it for years to come, but that could easily be the case.
Things change so much year to year that itโs hard to assume or project anything.
Coming into 2020, a lot of people thought SF would be the team to beat but in the end it was Tampa. Losing Bak and Aaron Jones to injury really proved to be significant despite how healthy the team had been for most of the year.
Just like SF this past year, Iโm not sure TB is in the same spot as many key players are set to become FAs and itโs tough for SB teams to repeat year over year.
