With #12's clock ticking, this is NOT the time to bring in many new bodies. This is the time to draft a few immediate, impact players. If the Packers use all 12 picks, or anywhere close to it, then I will know they still don't "get it". They don't need 12 new bodies...get 5 or 6 high impact guys and call it a day. use all those picks to manuever up as much as possible.

Yeah, because you’re guaranteed to hit on those 5 picks.  If a guy is reasonably in reach a trade makes sense.  Throwing away half your picks because you think a handful of guys are a sure thing is idiotic. Go figure.

Yeah - don't mortgage the future.

If we were guaranteed to get 5 Hall of Famers, then yeah - but that's the problem with the draft.....more than half the players will bust & be out of the league by 2022.

Fitzpatrick or trade down unless there’s an unlikely event like a top player like Ward, Nelson, or Chubb falls.

I don't think they'd see Vander Esch as an ILB though, unless he's the Matthews heir and he's moving all around the formation. He's tailor-made to play on the outside in a 3-4.

I also think Evans could play outside also, but think he's better inside. I really like Oren Burks to pair with Martinez in the 3rd or 4th round.

Wait, are you saying Ted's Bud Light is only allegedly drinkable alcohol and not diabetic chinchilla urine?

Yeah, I'm on board with that.

I hope they find a trade partner to gain an extra 3rd or such...

I'm torn. I'd really like James/Edmunds/Fitzpatrick/Smith but there appears to be a lot of good players in the third round also. Not getting the three compensatory was a real kick in the crotch, IMO, as that was a very sweet pick.

I think there are only 5 or 6 can't miss difference makers, than a whole lot of really good contributor types who can excel in the right situation. That is why I want more 2nd or 3rd round picks.

Biggest reason not to trade up is no one knows how good or bad the defense in GB actually is or isn't. Got nothing to do with the prospects available.

Dom Capers SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But then you're getting into a project again, converting LVE to an OLB in odd fronts or off the ball SLB in even fronts (since Pettine won't label the scheme, I'm guessing it will be hybrid). LVE hasn't been a full time pass rusher, mostly rushing the QB from ILB and even then only totaling 5 sacks in 3 years. He's a complete unknown in that type of role.

I'm guessing it would have to be a scenario where a team wants to double dip in the first round.  As you say, considering the depth of the contributor types not sure who would pull the trigger on a trade.  I guess there are still a good share of twitchy GMs out there.

Come to think of it.  Indy is in need of defense in a bad way but I'm not sure about Ballard's pattern after working under Dorsey.  I fully expect the Browns to just blow their proverbial load all over the place with Wolf and Highsmith leading the charge.  They are loaded with high picks.

If the trade is according to estimated value of the pick, he may actually be a bargain.  I read a couple times he is BPA (some say the RB).  So you're trading for the value of say the #4 pick for a player who may be #1.

Of course, if he is who some say he is, the line would be devastating.

I hate the draft!

When we picked Nick Collins, Jordy Nelson, Davonte Adams I said, "who the hell is that guy"  I'll even admit that I was not that high on Mathews.  I was, "meh" on AR.  I was excited about AJ Hawk.

I have no idea who will turn out and who won't.  The only thing that I'm relatively sure about is that the best way to get a blue chip player is to pick the best player available in the first round.  Drafting for need in the early rounds seems to produce less than BPA.

I also hate that even though I hate the draft, I'll be checking my phone/tv to find out who we get.

Nevermind, I'm post call and really don't know my head from a$$hole currently.

The one time I was 100% sure that the Packers had massively screwed up a pick is when they traded away two picks to move up into the third round to draft BJ Sander, which almost all the experts had as someone who was an UDFA. I think a lot of us thought that as it happened.

One other time I thought that the Packers had massively screwed up was when they traded away a first round pick of the Falcons second round pick the previous year. I remember thinking "what is this new GM doing." That was the Favre trade.

The draft is fun to watch because for every Rich Campbell and BJ Sanders there is a Donald Driver, Aaron Rodgers, Mike Daniels.

As a Packers fan who had seen many screwed up Packers drafts in my life I was honestly really mad when Wolf traded their first round pick for the 3rd string Falcons QB.  At the time I was thinking "well thats the same old Packers doing something stupid in the 1st round"  and I also thought they have Magic why did they do that?

It’s more fun when we get the Drivers and Rodgers’ and the Vikings choose the Williams’ and Erasmus James’ of the draft.

And (sadly) his size may preclude him from doing just that. Too small to jam in man coverage, and plays best off the WR at the line.

A really good speed guy tho. I would not mind him at 14

I assume you are talking about Ward, not James, who is 6'2" 215 lbs.

I am.

If they go up to 4, who says it's not for Saquan Barkley?? Need be damned. Besides, we don't know a lot about what Pettine wants/prefers in his defensive players. The need there may not be as great as some of you may think it is. Pettine may like what they have.

If Cleveland doesn't take Barkley 1, NY will take him at 2.

I'd love to have a live Eli stream if the Browns take Barkley 1st overall so we get to see Eli's face when it hit's him his future All Pro RB just turned into his replacement QB.
