I saw a mock I loved-

Rashan Gary at 12- Either he or Oliver will be there and I hope it is Gary-

Devin Bush at 30-

Jonathan Abram in the 2nd-Defense just went to elite with the free agents already on board

Erik McCoy in the 3rd.

 Max Scharping in the 4th.

With this draft we would have to hope that Graham finds the fountain of youth, Jones stays healthy at RB, and a slot receiver is available in the kids on the roster now.

I don't see much love on here for Gary.  Dude can play...

Oliver reminds me of John Randle for some reason.

I don't think Devin Bush makes it to 30.

WIlliams to GB at 12?

Offensive Tackle

Jonah Williams, Alabama

NFL comparison: David Bakhtiari

Bakhtiari has become the NFL's best pass-blocking left tackle, and he's reliable in the run game despite not having desired measurables or athleticism. Williams is the same type of unique prospect. Smaller and not supremely athletic relative to others at the position, he's exquisite with technique and boasts highlight-reel nastiness in the run game. In all, Williams taps into every bit of his talent with ultra-efficient movements both with his footwork and hands. I do remember Bakhtiari repeatedly stymieing inside moves, and that's the one area that -- on rare occasions -- gave Williams problems in 2018.

Size wise, Williams is very similar to Billy Turner, who apparently Gute targeted in part because of his build and run stop ability. Turner is 6'5 310, Jonah Williams is 6'5 305. It was hinted that Turner was the new mold of OL that Stenavich and LaFleur want in their zone blocking scheme.

My gut still says Gute will go with a pass rusher at 12, but Williams would hardly be a reach pick.

The stat of Brady in the playoffs not being sacked once and under almost no pressure still reels with me. It was a huge reason the Pat's got their 6th Lombardi.

Bahk's arms are 3/8" longer than Williams, HUGE difference.  They do have a couple of similarities on their scouting reports in weaknesses:

Bahk: Not an ideal build for an offensive lineman, thin in the arms...Loses on counter moves, thrown to the side when top heavy or leaning too far over, specifically when run blocking

Williams: Smaller frame by NFL standards for tackle position...Occasionally leans into edge-stackers

Get the guy in an NFL S&C program and he will be fine. Don't know if 12 is right for him or not, but he's proven he can play. Don't care if he doesn't meet some specific threshold, Jason Spriggs dominated the combine, but the guy can't play. Get guys who can play.

This Burns kid is all over the map. Some boards have him in the top 5 and others have him in the 3rd round. It will be interesting to see where he lands. Packers still have holes at middle LB, free safety, and DE so it will be fun to watch what happens. Signing Wilkinson and Clay would change two of those needs but if not, they would be high priority. The Clemson Kid at 30 that is 6-5 and 340 would be interesting.  This is the first time I have been  pumped for the draft in a while. Its the one benefit of sucking so back you are picking in the top 12 with expections of getting better in a hurry.

This is perhaps the fight in the dog not size of the dog question.  I thought Dbak was a steal in the fourth round and just to prove it must have been a fluke I thought Spriggs was a similar gift.  Watching tape it was clear Dbak needed to get stronger but was never out of position, never dogged it  even on a one win team.  Spriggs was really talented but the warning signs that his frame was maxed out were also there but like all the scouts I looked right by that because the hand thing fooled me and I thought an NFL coach can fix that.  But just like Jayson Smith (2nd pick 2009 nfl draft)  Spriggs was a maxed out former TE and the bigger he got the slower and more awkward he became and like Smith is likely headed out of the NFL next year.  So a lot of words to say it is a gamble , if he is maxed out size wise maybe not the best choice.  I do think his hand work is NFL quality but speed rushers in the NFL are faster and bull rushers are stronger.  Should GB feel he would be a great NFL guard then perhaps I would be OK with that but at 12 I want a lineman that can play tackle or is so dominant that no question exists he will be a upper echelon guard.

I don't remember the issue being that Spriggs was maxed out, but rather he was too light and needed to add bulk. He's a huge guy, he could add weight without losing a ton of athleticism. The big issue with Spriggs was always the finer technique points of the position, he's been getting beat with the same inside move since he was in college. He struggles with the mental aspects of the position. I think if he had Jonah Williams brain combined with his size/physical ability he would be a Joe Thomas level OT. Really he's the polar opposite of Jonah Williams. Williams is ALL technique and IQ and not a perfect prospect from a physical standpoint. Looking at Williams makes me think of Jeff Saturday. The guy wasn't the ideal shape for an NFL OL, but dammit he found a way to win consistently. Williams isn't that extreme in terms of size deficiency, but he's not "perfect". He wins though.

Draft Wire Mock

Packers move back three slots, pick up an extra third and draft Hockenson.

If the Packers move back 3 slots in this draft - I have a feeling they'll get more than just a 3rd round pick. maybe I'm wrong but I believe this draft is deeper & higher slots worth more.

I'm sure the mock is using the DVTC

The interesting thing about grabbing the skins 3rd is it's the pick right after GB's so Gutey would have 2 in a row (75 & 76) on day 2.

With Clay and Cobb gone it would not surprise me to see GB draft a slot receiver like Andy Isabella - I think he is the best one for GB, but close on his heals would be Marquise Brown.  But GB might also like what they see from St. Brown last year.  I also think that GB will add at least 2 OL, 1 ILB, 1 S, and 1 OLB - in no particular order.
