I swear to Reggie they must have eaten there and he served them.

Daniel Jeremiah has the Pack taking....

30) Laviska Shenault -- WR

School: Colorado | Year: Junior

The Packers don't pick WRs in the first round, but Shenault is more than just a receiver. He can line up in the backfield and move around the formation to create mismatches in Green Bay's favor.

He can also play QB. Maybe this makes up for letting Taysom Hill go.

Viska is a bad dude...Colorado was not great when he was there...he was their only weapon, and people couldn't stop him.

He is not going to wow you with blazing speed, but he is going to catch everything thrown his way. If he was 2 inches taller, he'd be a top TE. Has a tremendous durability track record too...just doesn't get hurt. Reminds me a lot of Larry Fitzgerald.

It would be fun if Gutey could draft a WR who has the build and toughness of Lazard, quick feet like Adams, speed like MVS, and hands like... someone not on the roster but Adams is close. Say, the second coming of Julio Jones.    Then all we'd complain about would be how MLF uses him and how often Rodgers throws to him (or doesn't).

i think if kenneth murray falls to us, you take the card up.  we can get a good wr in rnd 2.

I highly doubt Murray lasts in to the early 20s, and Queen might go in that range too.

I’m liking the idea of Zach Baun more and more, though he may not last too long either. He’s been getting a lot of work at WILB at the Senior Bowl and looks good, as well as being versatile enough to move around with Z’Darius in the lineup. If they could trade back, add a third, add Antoine Brooks Jr. to the mix at DB and they’d have a ton of flexibility. (assuming WR and DL are other picks)

if they could add Schobert as well, Pettine could do a myriad of things up front. Round out hopefully with another big, corner, wideout and a couple other prospects, it could be a very good offseason.

(9assumption: Bulaga is back)

In a lot of other years, Jalen Reagor from TCU would be considered a first-round WR...but in this deep year he is being pushed down on draft boards. Little bit smaller than most of the top guys (5'11) but he's explosive as hell and can return kicks and punts.

I read a post on Reagor in which the TCU staff was saying he ran a 4.29 40.

MVS ran a 4.37. It's one thing to be fast. It's another to be fast and be able to track the ball in the air (which MVS doesn't seem  to be able to).

Agreed...the knock on him is he's not a polished route runner. You can't teach speed, but not every fast guy turns out to be a great wide receiver.

He could very well turn the special teams unit into a weapon, though.

It seems that every time I bomb around on the Internet looking at draft stuff, the WR out of Colorado keeps popping up as a guy that is highly thought of.

Yeah and the more he keeps popping up the more his draft value soars and the more his draft value soars the more likely a stupid team like the Bears will throw two first round draft picks to move up two spots to snatch him up so I’m guessing he won’t be there when we pick anyway

Sounds like he could be Jeff Janis 2.0. We do need speed at WR, though, and this kid fills that bill, nicely.

Speed means jack shit if you can't run a route and fight through a defender.  It means absolutely nothing.  Get someone who actually catches the fucking ball running a correct route on a regular basis.

The packers already have a guy who isn't fast but can run routes and catch - Adams.

Now they need a fast guy who can do those things as well as to threaten defenses deep and create room for others and change match ups across the field. I'd love to see another WR who is fast and can play.

Imagine Adams getting coverage by #2 CBs or single coverage as defenses look to give safety help over some new WR. He'd catch 140 balls if they threw it to him that often.

GB is seriously bereft of WR talent after Adams.

KJ Hill from Ohio St (bit biased) could be day 3 guy to look at.  Does a lot well, not necessarily fast but quick.

ILB and DLine need to be addressed earlier. But can no longer negate WR. I’d take Graham back at reduced rate and cognitive to see if Tonyan and Jace are the answer at TE.

He's not a Day 3 pick anymore

I'm becoming more ambivalent to the idea of Graham coming back for another year. If I were to make a decision based on performance and/or value, it would be a near-instant "no".
But, because of his affect on the cap, it may be more feasible to keep him than not. The worst part of that, in my mind, is it would be another year of limiting snaps for Tonyan and Furburger, both in practice and games.

In any case, this limits what the team can do for this position for drafting or FA acquisition. We don't need to sign another TE to ride the pine or go to the PS.

Yep. What we see now, Scouts have been aware of or projected for at least a couple of months.

I see all of the O$U games and I think Hill would be a pretty good slot guy.  Kind of reminds me of Cobb a little bit.  You are right not the fastest guy in the world but he is quick and has really good hands.

Depends on what kind of board you're talking about.  The draft boards people like us see on the internet have players bouncing all over the place, up down and sideways many times.  The boards we don't see inside team's draft rooms, like you said are pretty much set before or shortly after the combine.

YATittle posted:

Yeah I think the combine has impact,

The combine numbers don't move players around the board much if at all. Which is why you see some players sitting out specific drills, especially if they're already slotted top 10
