The article points out that Ervin doesn't provide enough vertical element as a WR. They most likely want both in one guy.

Ideally, yes. But how many WR's run like Irvin? Not many. Merely being quick is not enough.
There are a handful of guys in this draft that I feel would be an upgrade to Ervin that the Packers can get.
Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson (not sure Packers will spend the higher draft capital to get him)
D'Wayne Eskeridge, WR, W. Michigan
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis
Javian Hawkins, RB, Louisville
Jermar Jefferson, RB, Oregon State
^ do all of those guys have KR/PR experience ?
I'd think we're gonna see a bit more emphasis on ST's going into 2021
Everyone of those guys return both punts and kicks
North Texas WR Jaelen Darden is going to some team as a KR/PR guys only...Packers won't take him because he doesn't fit their "catch radius" measurable. I think in terms of returns, he could be Tyreek Hill.
I agree--Darden could be great. Idiots who box themselves in on "catch radius" are foolish...

Fourth rounder? Get him Gute! A new version of Tyler Irvin.
Ann Wilson...she could sing the phonebook and it would be amazing. One of the best rock vocalists ever IMO...

Looking at running backs for that role, Elijah Mitchell fits as a mid-to-late round pick. He is Louisiana's all-time leading rusher: 4045 yards, 50 TD's, and a whopping 8.9 ypc.
9.51 RAS Score
5' 10+
201 lbs.
17 benches
37.5 vertical jump
10' 8" broad jump
4.35 40
2.44 20 split
1.51 10 split
4.2 shuttle
6.94 3-cone
The only question might be how well he plays in the vertical role as a receiver. I think he'd certainly make a fine #3 running back.
What round will Mitchell go?
Hard to say...5 through 7, I would guess. Same for Chris Evans of Michigan, another high-RAS RB.
There's always a chance a running back-needy team will draft them earlier than that, but that's where I would take them. Note, these guys are probably more pure running backs, than jet sweep/kick returners. That said, we could still use a number 3.
If you guys want to look up RAS scores and grade players based on their pro days or Senior Bowl measurements, this is the place - just type in a first or last name, and it will filter the results for you...great site...

8.9 per? πππ Madden numbers.
It is college-level, so we should temper our enthusiasm...π
Should we Curb our Enthusiasm?
Yes...that, too...π

concur.
Its important to let your lungs really breath when singing the phone book
There could be a lot Wong with that if it's in China.
Wait....was that appropriate?

Mr. and Mrs. Wong were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first child. A mixup in the nursery had the nurse bring them the newborn from Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.
The distraught father yells at the nurse "THIS IS NOT MY BABY!!! Look at him! Two Wongs don't make a white!"
@Packmeister posted:I'm not sold on Barmore, any more. His agility scores were well below the Packers' threshold... his overall RAS score is 8.22, and he didn't bench, or do any leaping or jumping at his Pro Day...
But can he play football?
Of course, he can. The question is whether the team would rate him a first round pick.
That right there is the nub of the question.
I would add though, that anyone looking to find draft answers by cruising chat forums like x4, (and this thread in particular), are clearly looking for nub in all the Wong places.
rookies
Do you see us getting any decent wookies this year?
NFL players don't typically rip peoples arms out of their sockets when they lose.
Wookies are known to do that.
Put him at DE and everyone can be Chris Carter for the next 127 years.
Ah one, and ah two...Aaron Aaronson....come on, everybody, let me here ya....
Good article from ESPN on draft boards...
I heard the guys on NFL radio say that even after all that teams do year round with the draft; the success rate is still only around 60%. It really makes you wonder if all the money spent by teams on it is really worth it. Like with almost everything, you can get to a point where"more is not always better".
Supports RW's belief in trading down and adding picks/improving odds.
I think it really does pay to pay more. Adding jags is adding jags, being able to discern not only talent, but properly slotting said talent is the key. Earlier draft picks tend to hit more because they have more obvious traits. It's tough to get a bushel of corn when you're pulling kernels from pile of turds.
Take that shit to FFA talk
Dark horse pick at 29: Texas OLB Joseph Ossai. Makes sense when you look at his age (just turned 21), RAS (9.5), the position value, and the contract status of the Smiths...this could be both players final years in GB unless theyβre extended. Iβve seen a lot of speculation that Preston will be cut and Z will be extended, I doubt GB is banking on getting a deal done with Z though. Gotta have insurance at a premium position.
I donβt think Iβd even call him a dark horse, tbh. Pass rush is king, especially if there isnβt a corner available at the pick. I like Ossai, Rosseau, Patrick Johnson and Jamar Watson a lot at various draft positions.
Damn... the draft is less than two weeks away already? Time flies. It will be interesting to see what Gute can get done. Gotta believe a fatty or CB gets taken in R1. I don't see GB going the route of WR or LB that early.
Anybody else think the new draft format that is spread out over several days sucks? They took a great thing and flushed it...
Found some interesting tidbits on the innerweb at landryfootball.com related to past Packer drafts. I think most of us know about Mandarich/Sanders and Ray Lewis. This is the first I've heard about Bart Starr's decisions as a GM. Montana and Lott??? Wow.
1979 β Green Bay Packers scouts wanted to draft Notre Dame QB Joe Montana but coach and GM Bart Starr was not sure about Montana and instead drafted Maryland DT Charles Johnson.
1981βMissing out on Joe Montana, Packers HC/GM Bart Starr had to get a QB to try and save his job and took CAL QB Rich Campbell overruling the scouts who wanted to take USC Safety Ronnie Lott.
1989- Packers GM Tom Braatz and HC Lindy Infante may have lost their jobs by taking Tony Mandarich over Barry Sanders
1996- The Packers Ron Wolf was ready to select Miami LB Ray Lewis at #27 but the Baltimore Ravens jumped ahead of them and took Lewis. The Packers then took OT John Michaels out of USC over Texas DE Tony Brackens.
