The Athletic issues their first mock...and for the Packers...

29. Green Bay Packers: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
The Packers haven’t drafted a wide receiver in the first round since Javon Walker in 2002, but they have to break that streak at some point, right? Aaron Rodgers can hope. Although not a burner, Bateman is a savvy route-runner who does a great job leveraging coverage and creating separation at various depths of the field.

Here's another:

Terrace Marshall Jr.

WR, LSU

For years now it seems like we are asking ourselves to imagine what Aaron Rodgers could do if he had more than just Davante Adams at receiver. Well, we shall ask the question no more as the team adds one of the country’s best in LSU’s Terrace Marshall. Marshall is a home run vertical threat who has tremendous size and speed. He would be an outstanding complement to Adams and allow Adams to have more one-on-one opportunities.

I think they will very well could go WR in the 1st round but I can also see this being the year they go all in on trying to finally fix the defense.

Sadly, they have tried this before with the likes of Nick Perry, Jerel Worthy, Datone Jones, Khyri Thornton, Clinton-Dix, Damarious Randall, Quentin Rollins, etc. etc. etc.  Clinton-Dix was decent early on and Perry had 1 good year, Kevin King is okay when healthy, but that’s about it for that mediocre at best list of players the Pack tried to throw at their defensive deficiencies.

They are just very poor at identifying talent for fixing the D with Alexander and Clark being the lone exceptions.  Maybe Savage will develop, but just lots and lots of mediocrity and disappointments the past decade.

As sad as this is to say, I've completed dozens of mock drafts for next year for the Pack.  Getting what should be a difference-making WR in either R1 or R2 is very doable - much like this year, there are a lot of talented players in the pool...R3 should even have a couple decent WR options.  Getting a DL by R3 is also very doable.  ILB Dylan Moses is usually there in the late 20s/early 30s and would love to see him in green and gold.  R4 is about the right spot to get a CB like Jack Jones or Ambry Thomas.  Here are a couple sites that I've spent way too many hours on...be warned, these can be very addicting.
