Now that, is an end to an era.

That's kind of interesting. With Goff this is one of very few rosters where Boyle might actually get a shot at a little playing time.

Here is what Wes Hod.... in the INBOX at Packers.com has to say about restructuring ARs contract.

"But Aaron Rodgers has restructured his contract before. He did it in 2019, the year after his extension. Yes, the Packers could go that route again but that would mean driving up Rodgers' cap number even more in 2022 and 2023. Russ Ball is the best at what he does. I promise if that's the route the Packers feel was best to create space, they'd do it. But we need to end this myth about Rodgers and restructures and recognize everything that goes into those decisions."

I was in that cult. Really wanted to see him play last year. I was hoping we'd have the NFC sewn up by game 16 so we could watch him play. Dude has a seriously live arm.

Me too. I think he's gonna do really  well and the intangibles he learned by hanging with AR 24/7 is going to help him and his arm kick ass in the NFL.
The good news is he gets Mark Brunell as QB coach, the bad news is he gets Anthony Lynn as OC.

Boyle only has a 1 year deal, so if Lynn continues to suck, Boyle can move on.
The transition from MLF to Lynn will be tough for Boyle; same going from a winner in GB to an also-ran in Detroit. From the penthouse to the outhouse

This is really a poor way to portray that contract. The reality is that AR moved cash from 2020 into 2021, so 2021 is overloaded and 2020 was underloaded.

You could also say that the Packers got MVP-level play for only $ 21M last season and they should build a statue of Gute. But that's not reality either

A better way to portray it is to add 2020 + 2021 together and average both -
That's $ 29 Million. And that's only 15 % of the cap and much more in line with what other QBs are paid.

The other part of this that's off base is that Rodgers deal like all the others - were written when the cap was going up $10-12M per season. 2020 saw an unforeseeable drop - which makes the salary a higher percentage than what was planned for at the time it was consummated

Overall, I don't think this tweet adds much useful information to the discussion, but that's just like my opinion man.

Interesting time stamps on these tweets. This CJ dude keeps claiming insiders like schefter aren't giving him credit for his insider knowledge.

And now Schefter nearly 24 hours later...

@AdamSchefter: Former Bears' QB Mitchell Trubisky is signing with the Buffalo Bills, per @JFowlerESPN and me.

Honestly, I don't get what Dalton brings that Mitchy or Nick Foles didn't. All 3 are average-ish QB's who give you brief rays of sunshine thinking they are good followed by long periods of very ho-hum QB play.

I would have saved the money and just stayed with Trubisky.

So you're saying Rodgers' moves with Olivia & Danica will help him out?

So he signs with a team where he has zero chance to start.

I'd like to see that contract.

"Sign here shithead, or don't.  It doesn't matter because you're trash.  Maybe we'll give you a uniform".

The be@rs are cutting Fuller.  The Pack tried to sign him a couple years ago, I wonder if there is still interest there.

From Rapoport

”The #Bears are releasing veteran CB Kyle Fuller, sources say, a cap casualty. In a tough 2021 offseason, this is Chicago’s only cut due to cap space. A former All-Pro corner now hits the market.”

with the GM's job and reputation on the line, The Bears gave up four draft picks in trade with San Francisco in order to trade up to select Trubisky out of North Carolina.  betcha the Bills GM didn't even offer a pack of trojanz.

@Henry posted:

They can't afford him.

The irony here is that the Packers made Fuller an offer as an RFA - and structured the contract in such a way that if the bears wanted to keep him, they'd have to match that structure...which is why Fuller is now being cut...for cap purposes.

OTC has him valued as a $ 10M / yr player, but his cap hit ballooned to $20M

True.  It would take some creative cap work.  He does have at least some interest in playing in GB (signing the contract that Chicago matched).  It would take pushing a lot of cap $ to 2023.

Think your team "won" free agency? Congrats. Only one SB winner in the last 10 years has exceeded $100M in FA spending, and only four have been in the top half of the league in FA spending the year they won it, none inside the top 10. So, again, congrats for nothing.P
