Brilliant move by Uncle Ted in a couple ways.

1.  He keeps a good young ascending player with tallants that you can't coach into a player.

2.  He sends a message to every kid undrafted this spring that he is willing to give you a chance to make the big money if you perform.

3.  Just as it becomes legal to talk around the league he sets a new standard for every free agent to ask for more money driving the cost for teams higher.  With any luck we will see several deals like this in the next couple days.

4.  The guys that don't play at the level they were paid by Ted are now motivated to ask for even more from other teams.  B J Raji.  Ted supposedly made him an offer in season quite likely at a time that Ted had a hunch Raji would not sign.  Raji will try to push for more money than prior only I doubt it comes from ROTTT.  Now, maybe Zygi needs a fat disgruntled top ten non producer.  Similar to what happened with #85 Gerg what was his last name again.

5.  He gets whom ever he values motivated to cut a deal while there is still room on the credit card.

Good CB's cost a lot of money. It's a fact of life in the NFL. Realize it & embrace it. Seattle is lucky having a guy like Sherman (drafted in the 5th round) play CB at an elite level & at a substantially reduced salary. That's going to change for them.

Tramon started coming on at the end of last season. The Packers generally honor their contracts. It's possible a restructure might happen for Tramon but I doubt a pay cut

Unless TT plans to spend heavily in this crappy free agent market, I'm not impressed. Wish he had accelerated that signing bonus over this year.

Isn't he in the last year of his contract? Don't see how they can restructure without extending him. They can either cut his pay or release him.

Jordy and Cobb are going to get their money this year as well.  Whether it's other teams' UFAs or his own, Ted is not done spending.

Jordy makes sense to me. Hoping they sign him. A little early for Cobb.

I'm sure that's it Boris. GB/TT don't comment on players or people not part of GBP so they won't confirm or deny interest. That makes it for easy for agents to leak "interest" in their player to make it seem like there's a market. Until that player is signed by GB I won't believe there is any significant interest. That said, I think it's likely GB does have interest in some DL because there is a need. So I'm sure the Packers are interested in Arthur Jones, Tyson Jackson, and Lamar Houston, but only TT knows what level that interest is and I seriously doubt he won't leak anything to the media.

My brother in law hung out with Nelson last weekend.  Totally out of the blue random connection through a friend of a friend.  The story is Jordy is staying in WI the whole winter for the first time, started getting bored and asked a friend of his if he could set up some snowmobiling.  He's not been on a snowmobile before.  So my brother in law supplied the sleds.  He also took him ice fishing and he wanted to use the auger.  My brother in law said "How about you don't use the ice auger?  I don't need the state of WI hating me if something goes wrong".  That and the snow banks he was jumping on the snowmobile.   End of the day my nephew got to play pac man with him.  Totally cool guy.

Jordy's extension is getting the finishing touches as we speak.

While I'm glad that TT didn't sign Jackson in retrospect, I wouldn't call him a "washed up" player. He's a hard-working guy, and I'd bet he still has a couple more years of tread on his tires. Atlanta's OL was awful, and their passing attack was severely crippled by their injuries.

You are so smert GD.  If Ted has cash and actually wants someone would he lay bait in hope the hounds follow the rong track to eliminate competiton?  Who else is out there that he might like?  Is he really interested in one of those three or is he looking at some college kids and lessening the desire by plugging holes for another team?

Uncle Ted is special.  Except he blew it on Hawk and never admitted it.  That Davis TE would have looked so good we might still have TOG.

Learn something new every day. The NFL floor on spending is not 95% of the cap but 95%  measured over 4 years and is calculated using actual cash spent. Not money promised sometime in the future.  In real life that is on pay day you get $500.00 not 200.00 plus 300 that you may or may not get 3 years from now. Kind of like (well kind of anyway) how the IRS figures what you are paid in a year.

As it turns out in real money Ted is not a miser but a free spender. In the last 2 years he given out more real money then anyone else. Of course he did spend big on Rodgers and Mathews but it should even out over time. But if I am a player what I care about the most is what I am getting now  not what they promise I will get sometime in the future.
