Bears fans' Optimism Index in Doc Jennings is probably like Wall Street in early October 1929 right now. Revisit their level of enthusiasm four weeks into the season.

And, he wasn't the worst safety on our 53 man roster. If that doesn't tell you something about that position since Collins got hurt, I don't know what will.

This is precisely why I would have been cool with TT spending stupid money on Jairus Byrd. I, as a fan can't take another season of safety play like we've had for the better part of the last three seasons.

Cobb, Jordy and......? I'd like to see Tramon and likely Bulaga (or possibly Sherrod) back from that list but it's not like most aren't just cogs.

Two Words: Chris Conte

Two more: Major Wright

Jennings is actually an improvement if he has to play, otherwise he's a solid special teamer.

They are no James Campen.

Packers still want Jolly back, but are in holding pattern with Finley

Jolly is on the rehab trail and recently was cleared for more extensive workouts. He is three months removed from surgery and could be ready in time for training camp if the surgery mends well and X-rays show that there is no unusual risk of his spinal cord being damaged.

"We're monitoring that," McCarthy said of Jolly's recovery. "I think Johnny did a nice job last year. You have to be very pleased for where he started and where he finished. I think he gave us every inch of what he had and then some. I was very pleased with Johnny's contribution last year." continue

Jolly's status might depend on what the Packers do in the draft. If they wind up taking a couple of defensive linemen, chances are they wouldn't need Jolly. The already have B.J. Raji, Mike Daniels, Letroy Guion, Jerel Worthy, Datone Jones and Jerel Worthy on the roster.

If there's only room for one of 'em, which one do you keep?

I'd keep the first Jerel Worthy because the send JW is hurt and add Josh Boyd - unless you don't think Boyd stands a chance to stick.
