Think it was Fontenot who commented you have to spend some time looking for film of Rodgers blocking at Cal, but it's there and that he's actually pretty good at it.
Look at the two SF games last year and tell me the defense is underrated.
Yes. Last years defense & this year's defense are exactly the same. I see your point.
Far & away one of your more asinine posts & you've had a bundle.
In a PFT article on it MM supposedly said Abra completed yesterdays training session. Perhaps it's like Bulaga's and he felt some kinda problem with the knee and kept practising, only to report it later to the training/medical staff.
I was reading an article from Peter King yesterday about NFL players getting stem cell treatments . More interesting to me than the treatments was a LB in the story trying to disguise knee issues from his team's training staff...
One NFL linebacker paid $6,000 a pop for a 1-milliliter vial of donated placenta tissue containing stem cells to be injected into each of his beat-up knees this offseason—but asked for his name not to be used in this story because he didn’t tell his team’s medical staff...
The linebacker didn’t tell his team mainly because he didn’t want to jeopardize his roster spot by arousing concern about the health of his knees. But he’s not alone in wanting to keep his stem-cell use private. Manning has never talked publicly about his reported trip to Europe for stem-cell treatment, and a team spokesman turned down a request for this article.
With all the money on the line and teams always looking to get younger it's interesting to see the way the athletes work the system.

Probably happened 8 yards down the fairway. Love a good Gladiator quote though.

I think it's great to see Cutler doing Briggs a solid.
In 2010, the Lisbon researchers published their results using this method on 20 people paralysed at various locations in their spine. Eleven experienced some recovery of movement or sensation;
Pretty cool, right?
The surgeons removed a 3-centimetre-long growth, which was found to be mainly nasal tissue, as well as bits of bone and tiny nerve branches that had not connected with the spinal nerves.
The growth wasn’t cancerous, but it was secreting a “thick copious mucus-like material”, which is probably why it was pressing painfully on her spine, says Brian Dlouhy at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, the neurosurgeon who removed the growth.
Pure speculation, but I think Abbrederis might not have just injured his knee yesterday. It seemed weird that they signed a WR the other day when the position was looking so deep. I'm guessing Abbrederis was feeling pain and was trying to play through it, but either it got steadily worse as camp wore on or they decided to shut him down. He was wearing the sleeve over his knee yesterday so something was up.
I'm guessing they IR him and then we find out it wasn't as bad as initially thought. He's a little sore and the Packers get to free up a roster spot and stash him for a year without risking him (or another WR they like) to waivers. If there's one spot they can afford to play that game it's WR. There's probably not a single guy on the roster who would benefit from a year of training as much as Abbrederis. He comes in with a nicked up knee and now they get to fix it and get him a head start on building an NFL body.

Could very well be. I was thinking Demarcus Ware, who was looking for a new contract this year and last year was suited up and practicing after missing three games with a "strained quadriceps muscle".
Source says Linsley's shoulder injury minor, should practice on Family Night pck.rs/1rXeAIk
@PeteDougherty reports Corey Linsley's shoulder injury is minor. Good news because the rookie has been the team's best center so far in TC.
Pure speculation, but I think Abbrederis might not have just injured his knee yesterday. It seemed weird that they signed a WR the other day when the position was looking so deep.
its certainly possible
not sure the timeline fits because GB would have put in the claim on Tuesday ( 24 hours) and were awarded the player on Weds.
But I'd also guess abby( like a lot of guys fighting for a spot) may have delayed in talking to the docs about his knee.
Bostick fell behind because of foot surgery in mid-December that prevented him from running full tilt until late May. He's in the 270-pound range, about 10 more than desired.
"He's getting into shape," said Fontenot. "I'd say his first day he got a little bit gassed early in practice. He's done better the last couple days." -jsonline (mcginn)
"It's funny, the first day I met Boykin, I told him he was going to be good one day," cornerback Davon House said. "What makes him good is he feels like he could get cut tomorrow, so it makes him play with an edge."
"We're actually really confused why he got let go in Jacksonville," Nelson said. "We were caught off guard when they said he got cut down there and came to tryout here, and it didn't take long for him to make his mark. I think the first year he was on the team, we kept six and that was the first time we kept six in awhile. That just goes to show they knew they couldn't let him go."
"The biggest thing that helped Jarrett is that he became an expert of our offense and he spent a lot of time studying our offense," Rodgers said. "Getting in my ear, wanting to hear what he needed to do to get on the field, what I expected of him in certain situations and certain route concepts. If you're consistently in the right place at the right time, you can't help but make plays. The ball is going to find you."
Perry sees promising signs. The last two seasons, he trained safeties from Arkansas State (M.D. Jennings) and Maine (Jerron McMillian). Clinton-Dix is green but not that green. Coming from a SEC power — Nick Saban's defense — he has a foundation of fundamentals.
"Usually when you come from those big schools and those top programs you've had some pretty good coaching and the fundamentals are instilled in you at an early age," Perry said. "He's had that and has made my job a little easier in terms of coaching him up and getting him up to speed in terms of what we do here."
One way or another, the Packers could find packages for their top pick. At times in practice, the Packers have had Burnett and Clinton-Dix at safety with Hyde covering a slot receiver.
Perry notes thatClinton-Dix has done the little things, such as leveraging routes, staying deeper than the deepest and finishing plays.
The coach wouldn't get into what separates Hyde from Clinton-Dix at this point.
"When they get into the preseason games, that's going to tell us a lot," Perry said. "That's going to tell us a lot, when we see how guys handle the pressure, how well they handle our defense in a faster-pace environment. Practice is one thing. It gives you a chance but then you've got to be able to perform when it counts. So these four preseason games will be imperative." -jsonline (Dunne)

This is part of the "multiple" stuff on defense. Is GB in nickle or dime ? Is Hyde playing slot or Safety ? Keep your best guys on the field and teach them to do different things. Then defensive personnel is no longer a tip off to the offense

Ponder and Greenway are in the discussion.
I get the feeling Capers is coaching for his job.
This defense is going to terrorize QB's & stop the run.
He might be coaching for his job, but he's going to save it!

MM said they had some "hard" conversations after the 2013 season
Dom is playing with house money. He knows he has 19 weeks. If he has a healthy stable he's going to wreak havoc with this collective of physical talent.
Expect anything. Coming from anywhere. Go down blazing.
I thought 2015-2018 were Green Bay's sweet spot for two Super Bowls given their roster and everyone else losing players to FA. But **** it. 2014 is a great place to start.

Apparently jason was on a different end of the field because the colt lyerla I saw dropped a couple somewhat routine catches and looked pedestrian in fontenot's blocking drill. We shall see.
quote:This defense is going to terrorize QB's & stop the run.
From all the local reports coming out of training camp it seems like Raji has been a force and he's been giving the OL fits. Micah Hyde is making plays all over the place and he wasn't even expected to start and Hayward has looked outstanding coming back from the injury. Then there is Julius Peppers- a guy that certainly is motivated to show he can still play.
I have pretty high hopes for the defense this year

This is where you lose me. Abbrederis was the apparent front runner for the punt returner job and was having a good camp as a receiver. Look at the other names on the punt return list: Cobb, Hyde and Tramon, all potential/probable starters.

What about ILB?
Just asking. I am pretty sure Packer's base defense will include 5 DB's where one handles some of the field an ILB otherwise would.
It's a fair argument to make that they don't want Hyde, Cobb, or Williams to do it because of their value to the team. Hyde has been getting most of the first reps, though. I don't think they mind him doing it because he's so good at it.
As long as we're discussing STs, it's worth taking a look at how Kevin Dorsey is being used during training camp.
He seems to be ascending. Playing on this many different units is a good sign:
From Friday
Yesterday, Kevin Dorsey was up front on the Packers' first KR unit. Today, he's getting work as a gunner on the punt team. They like him.
From Thursday:
- The first-team kickoff return unit was: DuJuan Harris returning with Clinton-Dix, Chris Banjo, Nate Palmer, Don Barclay, John Kuhn, Ryan Taylor, Mike Daniels, Jamari Lattimore, House and Kevin Dorsey blocking.
- The kick returners after Harris were Hyde and Dorsey.
Interesting deal. WR Kevin Dorsey is first team KOR on the front line right now. Second team he's a returner.
Interesting to see WR Kevin Dorsey on the front line of the kickoff return team. Must like his blocking.
Dorsey was on the #1 Kick Return unit as a blocker and was the KR with the 2's so I keep getting the feeling he's proving his utility to the team beyond being a WR.
From Wednesday:
Bush and Davon House have been the first pair of punt-team gunners. WR Kevin Dorsey and Hayward have been the second.
From Monday:
Dorsey looked really solid at KR today. Dorsey has really long strides and caught the ball cleanly.
From the first day of camp
WR Kevin Dorsey with a great 2-hand pluck of a laser over the middle. Told he quietly had a really good off-season and was worth watching.
Good luck to all #ProTerps reporting to camp. Here's @AJFrancis410 & Kevin Dorsey putting in work at Byrd this summer
Kevin Dorsey's draft thread from X4. There's some stuff in there I forgot about: from Rusty's Link in June:
He is also being used generously on special teams as a kick returner, on the punt team as a blocker and gunner and on the kickoff team in a safety-type role.
"I love it, it's opportunity," Dorsey said of his special teams return duty. "It's about timing, making sure you have the same timing with the people in front of you — because they can't hold those blocks forever. You get to where you need to be when they're ready, then from there you just have to be an athlete and just run."
To prepare for this summer, Dorsey got stronger and worked on his speed but most of all he worked on his balance. He began with what he called a "realignment" of his hips, ankles and knees and tried something called dry needle acupuncture, which is supposed to help with deep muscle tissue tightness.
"It's kind of weird," said Dorsey. "When you get poked the first time, you don't really feel it, because it is a really thin needle, but when you get to a spot where you're having trouble — you realize, yeah, that's a trouble spot."
No way anyone can play with shingles.
I had shingles and they have effective medicine for this, at least it worked for me in a couple of weeks.
so, after a couple weeks of medication, you were able to play NFL football.
Damn. I was hoping Boston would keep re quoting the preceding post so this thread started to resemble shingles. I'm a big fan of irony.
No, I just like being the whipping boy.
It's probably AIDS. The NFL just doesn't want it to get public. Good luck bro.
Thumbs up to Daniels, down to Bostick
"Mike's an infectious guy," defensive line coach Mike Trgovac said. "When guys first come in here — none of these guys are ever timid, but they kind of bide their time. This is what, Mike's third year? So there's a lot more younger guys than older guys."
"Your play speaks louder than any word you ever say," Trgovac said. "One thing NFL players will do is spot a (B.S.er). If a guy's just saying a lot of things and getting his butt whipped out there, when you are a leader, the first leader you are is a leader by example.
... (Daniels) is a strong, tough kid that can get off blocks. He only knows one speed. I just asked him in the gym, 'You fired up for tomorrow?' He said, 'I'm always fired up.' " -pressgazette (dougherty)
And a thumbs up to you titmfatied. Year after year continually providing these stories and links. Said it before, but it definitely deserves repeating. Thank you.
I had shingles and they have effective medicine for this, at least it worked for me in a couple of weeks.
Yes, I forgot about that. I had them before the medicine came along. I'd think Janis will certainly get some TC time and hopefully some time on the field in preseason games, but it will be tough to be behind everyone else who's been there from day 1.
But what about the Niner games last year?
What. About. The. Niner. Games. ???
Thanks GD for the updates!
What was the board name of the poster about 10 years ago that did daily camp updates, play-by-play and analysis. His were really great, too!
No idea where he is now.
Defense played a good game in the playoffs. AR did not have a good game. Hyde got two hands on a pick that would have won the game. Would have been a tough catch.
And nd not to beat that horse more than it has been. No Clay, Neal, Hayward, Shields. Datone Jones had to be used at OLB.
AR said it best afterwards, "Defense held them to 23 points, we should win this game"

So did you get leeches, or did they just give you a good bleedin'?
