Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will serve as a guest analyst for NBC-TV in its coverage of Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday.

He will join Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward as a commentator during the network's six hours of programming.

"They can take the audience to where these players are as the day progresses," said Sam Flood, executive producer of NBC Sports on Wednesday. "Hines and Aaron will be with (host) Bob Costas at that time talking about what's going on at the hotel, last-minute planning and teams getting on the bus and coming over. Aaron obviously has great insight into the quarterback play."

Rodgers mentioned on his weekly radio show that he would be part of NBC's coverage in Indianapolis between the Giants and the Patriots.

Rodgers was selected MVP of last season's Super Bowl XLV. Ward won that honor in Super Bowl XL.

Absolutely, Barrister. Ten years from now, after Aaron has added another couple of rings and MVP's, he's going to be a great broadcaster. Unlike the Emmit Smith debacle (or shall I say "debacled"), Deion Sanders and his incessant posturing, some athletes can actually provide insight, and bring intelligence to a game. Aaron will prepare and be great in front of the camera, just like he is on the field.

I thought Aaron did a fine job.

Did you all hear the part about the Giants trying to slow down the Packer no huddle with the 'phantom injuries'? Loved his remark that he 'made it a point to listen to the conversation between the players and trainer and I didn't here much about pain in those situations'.

I heard that yes...
