I still haven't completely forgiven Favre (for going to the Vikes) but he absolutely deserved to have his # retired, so that was nice as well.
As for the game, if the NFC Championship debacle was not McCarthy's low point, then it was last night. Back-to-back home losses to the 1-8 Lions and 4-6 Bears is a real low point. Real low.
But MM still maintans that there is nothing wrong with this team. Is his ego gotten so big, and is so intent on showing the nfl how smart his? and , or Has MM all but lost this team?

Lots of unhappy fans out there. I watched the Seattle playoff game there last year, amazing atmosphere (until the end of the game), perch and walleye platters, many, many inside and outside viewing areas. One of my favorite Packer bars for sure

As a charter passenger on the Janis! bandwagon (and coiner of the Janis! usage), let me expand on this.
Have spent a lot of time trying to watch his WR play this season, tough to do without All 22 but have still done it. I think a lot of the criticisms of Jeff are well founded. He has looked unsure when lining up and made mistakes on routes. To describe his route running as "raw" is charitable. Has so much to learn in both technique and savvy.
But here's the deal. Get the ball in Janis!' hands and he's a beast. Natural skills take over.
Preseasons stats: 12 catches, 216 yards, 18.0 avg, 5 TDs
Regular seasons: 4 catches, 95 yards, 23.8 avg
2015 KO returns: 4 for 165 yards, 41.3 yard average.
Not the best comparison but he's sort of like Walter Stanley on those 80's Packers teams. Not a great receiver by any stretch of the imagination but they figured out ways to get him the ball and then just let natural talent take over. HE CAN MAKE ****ING PLAYS.
Look at that kickoff return last night. A fricking rocket while shedding defenders and maintaining great ball security.
He can't yet do the majority of what they want receivers to do in this offense but he sure as hell can do some things better than anyone else on the roster, namely run like a deer and make plays.
Mike and Clements' thought process in a nutshell is not seeing the plus side of what a kid like Janis! can offer from scrimmage and work to put him in positions where he can succeed. Instead he gets the pine or the death stare from Rodgers because he's not Jordy Nelson. They're looking at the flaws, and there are plenty, instead of the attributes, which are at the 90 plus percentile level for guys like him in this league.
Same with Perillo, limited skill set but what he can do he's very effective at. So use him!
FFS this passing offense has been in extremis for weeks and the brain trust won't adjust. My God.
But no, just keep pounding the square peg of Leadfoot Dick Rodgers on out patterns expecting YAC ( ) or expect Davante Adams to play like early Randy Moss.
And don't get me going about playcalling and the run game. ChilliJon has my proxy on that one.
Lacy averaging over 7 yds. per carry in the first half. Starks averaging over 5 yds per carry in the first half.
They combined for just 10 more carries in the 2nd half. Game over.

OMGOSH....I've two t-shirts from there with Max Mcgee's daughter's autograph. She signed them as Max's daughter. She was great.....4 of us drove there from Apache Junction,AZ and she opened the place for us. Signed two t-shirts, told us some great stories of her dad, Max, and gave us cold sandwiches with chips. She said she would have given us burgers and fries, but she wouldn't be open for another 5 hours or so, so she could only do cold sandwiches with chips. This was back in early 2000's when she owned the bar.
Just heard from Mark Brunnell on BSPN. Rodgers like 41% comp and 0 TD's when throwing to Davante.
Horrid. That's a special kind of horrid.
+Defense outside of WR screens. They played tough, made a few plays and held a decent Bears offense to 17 points. The vaunted Broncos defense held them to 15.
+Lacy looks like himself again and Starks looks like he did in 2010's run to a championship.
+Crosby might be the best player on this team. He looks like he did his senior year at CU.
-WR's corp needs to be overhauled. Yes I know its mid-season and options are liminted but they're broken. Flat out broken. Those 4 plays from inside the 10 to end the game is what you see all game; WRs and TEs who can't get open. Lazy routes, no suddenness, and lack of athleticism. Throw in poor route concepts from Clements and Rodgers never had a shot (outside of a coverage breakdown). Cobb is set but Adams and Jones were completely ineffective. Get Janis in there, pray Montgomery gets healthy soon and sign someone, anyone off the street.
-Untimely OL breakdowns. Sitton's penalty and Tretter's snap cost this team the game. That was a guaranteed 3 points that they pissed away. We've seen too much of that this year.
-Defense's inability to defend the WR screen. Anyone who has watched the Adam Gase offense the last 2 years in Denver knows that's his favorite play. Ran it to D Thomas way too much even for Broncos fans. Of course, Dom completely misses this and the CBs look completely unprepared for it, with Hayward chasing around blocks, missing the WR and letting the blocker go downfield. Just poor preparation on a play they knew they'd see multiple times.
-Rodgers. He's not the same QB as last year. I can only hope it's a combination of poor OL play and WR play. A QB has to be confident and when he can't trust his protection for 4 seconds and he can't trust his WRs will be where they're supposed to be, it's not surprising he's struggling. Still, he's got to be better.
-MM. I'll give it to TT, he's willing to change players and turnover a roster. We see 12-15 new faces each year which is 30% of the roster. MM though, seems so resistant to change that he trots out the same players every game and is shocked the result is the same. There is no accountability on this team for bad play b/c players know they wont get benched. Seriously, who is the last player to get benched for poor play (excluding injury)? Palmer, Linsley, Adams, R Rodgers, and Hyde have all had serious issues this year and no one has been benched for performance. That's not ok and has to change.
-Clements. Run game looks good but his pass plays are the worst. GB does not have the worst talent at WR and TE. Teams are worse off with worse QBs. But what do they have? Route concepts. We don't do anything to help guys get open. Each man runs his own route then just stops. Terrible terrible terrible offense. I don't know how MM doesn't make a change here.
If Adams is the starter next week, I'm done watching games this year. It's just too frustrating to watch this offense. I've got better things to do than scream at the TV for half the game every Sunday.

Green Bay — The following is a summary of coach Mike McCarthy's press conference on Friday:
(On this week of practice) It's a seven-day week, Thursday to Thursday. Today is pretty much a coach's day, training room and weight room are open. Tomorrow is a game-plan day.
(On film from last night) I have not watched the tape yet.
(On Aaron Rodgers' preparation) Our passing game is not where it needs to be. I think any time you see basic plays, like a slant route turning into an interception like it did last night, the timing isn't clean. ... Frankly, I think too much is made of the scheme. ... We had our chance to get our hands on the football a number of times last night and we didn't do it. Both of our turnovers we gave away.
(On changes that can be made) Everything we do is constantly evaluated. If you look at the offense, the passing game is not clean. We made scheme changes from last year to this year, and it's not productive enough. We'll continue to take another hard look at it and either emphasize some of the changes that we've made or keep working.
(On injury concern to Damarious Randall) Basically when I left here last night we really aren't going to know about his injury until he gets on the field Sunday. Same with Bryan Bulaga.
(On Jay Cutler) There wasn't a lot of high-risk play selection with their offense, which is probably the way to go with Jay Cutler. We had a chance to get our hands on a couple of balls and we didn't do it.
(On forcing interceptions) The first thing we have to do is get in position and get our hands on the ball. We're getting there. We can't just throw away the conditions last night. They handled the ball a little better than we did. The fact of the matter is that we're getting there, that's the hardest part. We just need to make the plays.
(On Lacy's fumbles) If you don't hold onto the football or give the ball away, your opportunities are going to decrease. He's played well the last two weeks. ... The ball was away from his body. A guy comes in from behind and strips the football. It's a basic technique.
(On the urgency right now) The reality is we're not that far off. It's attention to the details. Our issues are technique and the discipline in the technique. Quit worrying so much about the plays and win the route or win the play calls. If you look at the way the game was called, we had pretty good balance. ... We had opportunities to be a little more efficient and score a few more points. We got some tough breaks from the officials, but that's part of the game.
(On if officials are overreacting to calling picks on Cobb’s out routes in red zone) Well, the one play on Randall is just a flat poor call. He missed the call. You can shake that any way you want. They’re looking for it. I think Dean Blandino does an excellent job with the continuing education. The videos they put out are very informative. I think the instruction of them is excellent, better than prior seasons. Something that I know we continue to use as teaching tapes just because of the quality is so much better. But in the same breath, officials are human, too. I think when you emphasize things, you may look for them a little more. There’s contact that’s made. There’s contact on the interception with Davante. You have plays like that where on both sides — it wasn’t a rub and no different defensively, the guy’s breaking to the flat for his coverage element. So you have those types of situation, but the play that was called on Randall wasn’t even a rub play. It was drag-slant. James Jones ran a slant and like I said, the official missed the call.
(On if Jeff Janis could help the offense) Hey, Jeff Janis is coming on, there’s no doubt about it. I think Jeff has been given some big-play opportunities and he’s converted some, starting with the kickoff returns and the deep ball last week, the pass interference and some scramble extended plays. But there’s certain things, each receiver has a skill set that fits a certain part of the offense. So I would look at Davante and Jeff a little differently as far as how you would utilize them and where you play them. But Jeff is definitely getting more opportunities, and he’s earned that.
(On troublesome late-game losses) We've had four losses and in three of them we had a chance to win the game right at the end. ... We need to do a better job converting those opportunities.
(On Bart Starr being here) Oh shoot, I think as a fan and for the organization, just having Bart and his family and Brett and his family, I'm told everything about the ceremony was fabulous. As coaches and players, our responsibility was thinking about the game. But it was a huge night for everybody.

This offense needs change and the only places they can get it are Janis and Montgomery (when he's healthy). Give Janis a few simple WR screens and go routes and see what happens. He might suck but there is no way he sucks worse than Jones and Adams last night. That's the reality.

None of us know the answer and that's frustrating but this is the same team that went 6-0 before taking the slow boat to turdville. For sure this team isn't full of superstars but it's not a team full of scrubs either. This team is fully capable of beating any team in the league but for some reason has been unable to get out of it's own way of late. To me that wreaks of bad coaching. I think it's well past time to pull the plug on the Clements experiment. It's painfully clear he is unable or unwilling of making adjustments to compensate for a struggling offense. I'm still a fan of MM and do not want to see him canned but it's time for the boot start holding coaches accountable. Demoting or canning Clements would be a good start IMO.
This one bothers me more than Detroit. I hate streaks. Det not winning in WI since 90whatever. Unbeaten at home playoffs, Favre undefeated when temp below 34, 12 not throwing a pick at home in 2 years. They always come to an end. And it always ends badly because with streaks come expectations. Hell, look at GB v Chi until about 93.
CHI and Cutler were just on a smaller one than Detroit, sooner or later it'll happen and they'll win. Law of averages.
So what is the difference between a WR that can't catch and a WR that is 'too dumb' to play?
Just saw that Rodgers threw 15 passes to Jones and Adams, resulting in 2 catches for 14 yards and an interception. Yet I can almost guarantee those two will be the starters next Thursday. How is that ok?

Yep. Like this play against the Rams in the 2014 preseason. Yah I know it's preseason but the concept is there, get him the ball in space and let him run!

Boy, you said it about Adams. I can understanding pressing too hard and the dropsies (see Randall Cobb) but he was just half-assing it out there. With all that that game stood for and he can't even show reasonable effort.

One of the big off season coaching changes from last offseason that doesn't get mentioned too much (though cuqui did earlier) was Edgar Bennett getting promoted from receiver's coach and replaced by Alex Van Pelt, who BTW is also the QB coach. So where are we having trouble this year? At the QB and receiving positions. And we can't put all the blame on Jordy being gone.
I'm not suggesting that Bennett get demoted back to the position coach, but it's obvious where the problem is. Maybe Van Pelt doesn't know how to teach these young receivers how to run routes and get open. Maybe there's something undetected issue with Rodger's mechanics that's causing problems with his accuracy.
McCarthy doesn't like to make rash decisions, so this coaching lineup probably won't be reevaluated for 5-6 years.

Same thought crossed my mind Pduck. Adams definitely looks uncoached, and if Janis can't figure it out, the position coach should be the one tutoring him until he does.
Other then defensive coordinator (Capers really needs to be fired) the Packers have no desperate team problems. The Packers problem is that they have been decimated by injuries and will not give Abbrederis a chance. Bring back Nelson this would be a better team. The Packer's also miss Montgomery, he is already better then Adams. As of now Adams is not a very good pro. Tight End is also a problem.
Over all this is just a down year for the Packers. Now if they canned Caper things would change for the better rapidly.
