Mac Jones may be out…hopefully Watson is back…and Jaire…

And hoping Bakhtiari made it through the game with any issues, now or during the next few days
@AdamSchefter: Patriots’ QB Mac Jones is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain during today’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, per source. He will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis and determine the severity of the injury.
Until today, I saw some similarities between the Cheatriots and the Bucs.
Fairly stout defenses, but weak offenses.
But the NE defense gave up 188 yards rushing, 4 TDs passing, and 37 points (!).
Their offense came to life, producing almost 450 yards, but it was nowhere enough to overcome what Lamar J did to the defense.
To me, Belicheat isn't quite the same coach without enough talent.
Maybe the GM is slacking?
I despise Kraft, Belicheat, and Patriot fans, so I hope we beat them unmercifully.
@TomPelissero: #Packers CB Jaire Alexander will undergo further testing today on the groin injury he suffered in Sunday’s win over the #Bucs, but there’s optimism it’s not a long-term injury, per source. Coach Matt LaFleur said Alexander was “all smiles” in the locker room after the game.
The Pack’s defense was vastly better vs the run this week than in previous weeks to say the least. That said, I think this might be the best O-Line they’ve faced so far this year. Tampa has more talent on their line but had 2 key starters out which weakened them.
Keep playing run D like they did this week and the Pack can win comfortably. Play as poorly as they did vs the Bears and this will be a bit of a nailbiter no matter who the QB is for the Pats.

With our defense, even a healthy Mac Jones doesn't concern me.
Hopefully we can find a way to more effectively run the ball this Sunday. Bucs stopped us cold, and missing Akiem Hicks.
Once TB decided to start stacking the box they not only stopped our run game but also took away the short passing game that was working in the first half. I somehow suggested before the game they'd do this but didn't think it would take them until the second half to shift to this scheme.
Coaches thinking a lot about how to get the best 5 out there, per MLF at presser just now.
@ByRyanWood: Asked Matt LaFleur what #Packers will do with Yosh Nijman once David Bakhtiari is ready to be full-time player. "That's a great question," he asked, "one I don't quite have an answer for yet." There's been a lot of discussion on what to do, MLF said. Gonna be real interesting.
What a nice problem to have.

So Rodgers gave him something to ease the pain?
No way Mac Jones plays if he's got a high ankle sprain. Had to look up their backup. Wow, Brian Hoyer is still a thing.
Jaire's ass was hurting too much from the ghee cleanse to worry about groin pain.
In the past Pack has gotten burned by backup QB’s, it will be interesting to see what Brian Hoyer still has, and how Belichick uses him. Some unscouted looks for our D to suss out and find weaknesses to exploit.
More important to get our offense on track.
From Adam Schefter:
Patriots’ QB Mac Jones has what doctors diagnosed as a severe high ankle sprain that would cause many to have surgery, per sources. He is likely to miss multiple games. Jones and the Patriots still are discussing his options and the best way to proceed.
Favre would have played.

And had the poor people in Mississippi pay his salary.
Given the Packers issues on the interior OL I wonder if they would move Yosh to RT and have Jenkins play guard?
Consider the source observing and tweeting this out. The Packers do stupidly well finding OL.
Yes, it's early. But looks like the Packers have yet another quality C.
#packers center @josh_myers71 isn’t a finished product yet, but plays like this one demonstrate why he could be the next great anchor in the middle. #filmstudy #gopackgo #playerdevelopment #footwork #nfl #oline #technique #packernation #bucs pic.twitter.com/8a1zyMMrHK

Should we come up with nifty nicknames for special team standouts Nixon and Ford? Maybe Crook and Pardoner?

I love Mike Wahle. If I get back on Twitter he will be one of the few folks I will follow.
With Jones out, and TB hurt last week, I can totally see MLF leading another 3 loss season and getting passed over on Coach of the Year again for "reasons"...
You can’t imagine the Packers winning ONE game, let alone 14.
With Bak's practice schedule we should expect him to practice Wed, off on Thurs, and practice again on Friday. Correct?

It's going to be something like that, but it's also possible it gets tweaked week-to-week depending on how he feels.
Padded practices have been moved to Wednesdays this year per MLF. And those padded practices used to be a big factor on whether a player was going to play that week.
This year? Who knows.
Southern Arizona!!!
Well maybe this week my local provider will show the Packers/Pats instead of the Raiders/Denver like those dirty bastards did to me last week when they were supposed to show Packers/Bucs and I got Rams/Tards.

Did he have any setbacks in the TB game?
Hmmm.
Packers Sign Veteran Cornerback to Practice Squad
The Green Bay Packers have added a veteran with proven kickoff-return ability who worked out for the team on Tuesday.
GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Packers signed cornerback Corey Ballentine to their practice squad on Wednesday, a source told Packer Central.
A sixth-round pick by the New York Giants in 2019, he started four games and broke up two passes during his first two seasons. Where he’s made a much larger impact is on special teams with a career average of 24.4 yards per kickoff return. In the 2021 preseason, he had a 73-yard kickoff return against the Packers while with the Jets.
Ballentine spent training camp with the Atlanta Falcons but failed to make their roster. He spent two weeks on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad last month.
The Packers lost starting cornerback Jaire Alexander to a groin injury on Sunday at Tampa Bay. The injury was not considered serious but Ballentine will provide some instant veteran depth with a chance to provide some more juice on special teams.
At Washburn, Ballentine was a Division II All-American who won the Cliff Harris Award as the nation’s best small-college defensive player. As a senior in 2018, he had three interceptions with two forced fumbles and added three blocked kicks. For his career, he picked off five passes, forced four fumbles, blocked four kicks and had a 24.8-yard average on kickoff returns. His all-around excellence got him an invite to the Senior Bowl, which opened the eyes of scouts and proved to him that he belonged.
Did Amari Rodgers even get any offensive snaps last week? I cannot recall seeing him on offense. And the above signing doesn't bode well for him on ST's either..
#Packers coach Matt LaFleur says there will only be a jogthrough practice today. David Bakhtiari will not participate in it.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) September 28, 2022
The plan, LaFleur said, was for Bakhtiari to not practice Wednesday this week.
Matt LaFleur considers #Packers CB Jaire Alexander as "day to day" with his groin injury, indicating there is no long-term concern for his top corner.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) September 28, 2022
Matt LaFleur adamant -- beyond adamant -- next week's trip to London does not affect his preparation for Patriots in any way.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) September 28, 2022
"You look too far ahead in this league," LaFleur said, "you get your ass whipped."

I rewatched the game this morning and had a Dvante Wyatt spotting or 3. Saw Amari on one play running an end around sans football.
Packers punter Pat O’Donnell is the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

I repeat. The Packers have the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
This is not a drill.

3. One of them as the deep guy in the victory formation.
So 4 snaps in 3 games.

I think he's supposed to be on a 2 on 1 off schedule like Lewis. So in a normal week of practice he would go Tuesday-Wednesday off Thursday and back at it on Friday.
But Matt tends to give them Tuesday off after a win and they tend to win a lot of games so....

That's pretty damning considering both Watkins and Watson were out. Ooof.

Speaking of...
Wyatt has a really nice arsenal of pass rush moves. Won’t be long before he climbs up the defensive line rotation. https://t.co/giJL9ajiRy

IIRC all players league-wide have Tuesdays off after a Sunday game per collective bargaining agreement (unless they have a Thursday game that week).
