IIRC all players league-wide have Tuesdays off after a Sunday game per collective bargaining agreement (unless they have a Thursday game that week).

Ah yeah that's right. When Matt gave the team a big SEE YOU WEDNESDAY after the game Sunday I was thinking he was giving them Tuesday off. But he was giving them Monday off.

It's funny...there were people shitting all over D-Wy after pre-season...now has he's gaining experience, he's showing flashes of being an elite interior DL one day.

He is an absolute physical freak...dudes that big don't move as fast as he does. Give him time...he's gonna be an impact guy.

That's pretty damning considering both Watkins and Watson were out. Ooof.

More damning when MLF was asked about him and basically just said "he needs to make the most of the opportunities he has" non-answer.  I'm sure he's making the most of that victory formation.

Also damning that Winfree was elevated from the PS again last week and got 13 snaps and 2 targets.  If you can't beat a guy who keeps going up and down from the PS, then you're not a WR.

Quote from Bill.

“Saw Mac a little while ago. Definitely getting better,” Belichick told reporters. “Probably won’t practice today but he’s definitely made a lot of progress in the last 48 hours. We’ll take it day-by-day and see how it goes.”

On follow-ups, Belichick continually and slowly said “day by day.” Then, he was asked about Jones’ options for rehabilitation and recovery.

“Day-by-day,” Belichick said. “What do I look like, a doctor? An orthopedic surgeon? Like, I don’t know. Talk to the medical experts”.

Bilicheat fucking with the media. Little more than that. Jones will be out weeks.

I am equally impressed with what he does after Brady executes the 'quick release'- Wyatt turns and digs toward the ball without knowing it was thrown into the ground. Play til the whistle hustle is a huge virtue in a DL.

Living on a barrier island off the coast of Charleston may mean that I will not be able to actually watch the game on Sunday. But I have every confidence that we will win this game.D6B7931D-50B9-4D61-9374-10700B5021EE

That last column sums up what is wrong with officiating.

Multi billion dollar industry. Their occupations should all read as NFL Official. You want to be a lawyer or a IT Engineer, fine go ahead and do that. Someone else can be a full time ref.

Not convinced that "full time" refs would make it any better because the best way to get better is to do live games....where are they going to find them? This has always been the problem with football. In basketball & baseball, refs / umpires who rise to the highest level are doing hundreds of games a year during their formative years, compared to football, where they may be doing 25-30. What would full time officials do in the off season that would make them better? They know the rules, where some fail is applying / interpreting at game speed.

I once heard the argument for having officials with other jobs is that if they weren't dependent on the NFL ref salary, they'd be less likely to take bribes.

A fairly weak argument IMO...I've yet to meet a multi-millionaire that didn't want more money...anyone can be corrupted. If you make it their full time profession, they are dependent on that salary, and likely take the job extremely seriously. They don't want to fuck up and get fired.

But this wasn't the intent of the post, more that Adrian Hill, if I recall correctly, is a fairly good ref...it's not like Larry Triplett or Bernie "Mr. Minnesota" Kukar is coming to town.

NBA has a G league.

MLB has their minor leagues.

NHL has the AHL and other developmental leagues.

The NFL could have their own spring league similar to the USFL as a way to develop players that aren't currently on a roster. Maybe teams could even allow some of their practice squad level guys to participate if they saw a benefit to it.

That's just one idea. You're the NF fucking L. I think they can figure this out.

Obviously there's more work involved to be an NHL, MLB or NBA official due to the number of games but an NBA official is making about double the salary of an NFL official. But the NFL is a $17 billion (and growing) yearly revenue. NBA is $10 billion. MLB a little less than that. NHL is about $5 billion but their officials still earn more than their NFL counterparts.

Why football has less opportunities for officials to improve is that 1) Every level plays their season at the same time 2) Because of the risk of injury, the high cost of equipment for lower levels, there just aren't off-season games. Perhaps it is time to revisit NFL Europe as a developmental league?

USFL was a spring season. They were done in time for training camp and we found a potential keeper in Abernathy.

The problem with most of these other leagues is they don't have the financial backing of the NFL. But yes, NFL Europe would be a possibility especially with Goodell hell bent on making the league international.

I watched a few of the games in the old NFL Europe league. The attendance got lower and lower and could not support it. But that was a while back. I am sure that there are a lot of fans there but not enough financial support to pay for it.

Guy looks quite iffy if he will play on Sunday. He'd be a much bigger loss than most think. Really helps out in Run D.

@MikeReiss
Thursday practice report, as Mac Jones (ankle) and Lawrence Guy (shoulder) are not present … and players pay respect to Coolio.

Got an email a couple hours ago. The bandwagon Pats turned in some unused tickets for this week so there was a decent number of face value tickets available for purchase.

Looks like all but 2 have been sold since I checked earlier.

While the sites I streamed on my pc were for shit last Sunday for the Bucs game, I had downloaded DofuSports app to my phone and it was steady throughout the game.

@TomSilverstein: #Packers OC Adam Stenavich said they're coming up with a plan to play LT David Bakhtiari "as much as possible." He said it could mean rotation continues this week and that they'll figure out what they're doing after seeing practice and consulting with training staff.
