The Super Bowl is going to be played in their home stadium in two weeks. A dream scenario. A chance to win their franchises first super bowl and be the first team to win it at the home stadium. Plenty of motivation. And the Vikings could only manage to score 7 points and have their #1 ranked defense that averaged around 15 points a game allow 38 points. This game belongs right there with all their other collapses. But this one has its own unique sweetness.

The score for the last 53 minutes of this game - 38-0!

The original star wars came out more recently than the last Viking super bowl appearance.

Every movie ever made in the history of mankind came out more recently than the last Vikings NFL title.

Not true, they won an NFL title in ‘69

They didn't win a World Championship. They lost the Super Bowl.

Merger took place in ‘70, they won the nfl championship in ‘69 before the merger took place is what I was getting at...at least their sorry asses have something to hang their hats on

I know what you were getting at, and no, they have nothing to hang their hats on. They've lost the last game of the season every year of their worthless existence. The NFL recognizes zero titles in 57 years.

FTFY.

As much as I hate the Vikings and as happy I am to see them get their asses handed to them, I'm not going to say they suck....at least this year. Guys like Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, and Everson Griffin are legit.  HOWEVER, they weren't a great team and their defense was overrated.   They beat Brett Hundley twice, McCown/Trubisky twice,  Jameis Winston and Deshone Kizer (even Doms defense beat this group sans Hundley).  You can throw Tyrod Taylor  in there, too.  Stafford beat them and Cousins and Newton each hung 30+ on them.  And, playing in that dome 8 times a year gives them a huge advantage given the artificial noise and silly horn.

I was relieved the Vikings lost today and somewhat enjoyed it.  But that 2009 choke job with Favre blowing the game vs the Saints was sort of an ultimate choke job that can never be quite duplicated in my mind.  After that loss to the Saints, I genuinely felt joy in their demise and the fact that it was lead by our traitor QB made it special.  Today was more of a feeling of relief.

From week 5 onwards, this has been a terrible time to be a Packers' fan, but today  was at least a somewhat enjoyable day in what otherwise was a horrendous season.

Yea, nothing is better than records that have an asterisk next to them.

Still

Keep

Quoting this only because I believe other posts will follow before I hit post reply.

That was epic, no doubt. But, for me, this takes the cake. The Vikes ran away with the division once Rodgers went down, and for most of the second half of the season, their nitwit fans thumped their chests like King Kong. When they beat the Saints last week on a lucky pass where the rook defender just whiffed on the tackle, they became the "team of destiny".

"We're going to be the first team to host and play in the Super Bowl, and we're going to win it!"

Tonight's butt whipping is the epic dick punch I was hoping for. I will have fond memories of tonight for as long as I live.
