Playoff Roster

I like your list - would be ballsy to leave Schoop off the post season roster.  Only need 4 starters so maybe drop Miley, Davies or Woodruff?  I’m not saying Schoop has earned his spot by any means though - just think they would have him on the roster.

Remove Broxton, Davies, and Woodruff...add Schoop, Barnes, and Jennings

I like Broxton just for pinch running and late inning D.  The story on Davies will be told in his last couple of starts.  Woodruff has been very good since his return.  I just don't trust Schoop with the bat.

cause he is so much better a hitter than Sogard?

I was going to post he strikes out too much, but didn't want to go down that road again.   Oopps, I just did.

Scope's .618 OPS is miserable (but still light years ahead of Sogard's)

Scope makes it before Broxton.  Some combination of Barnes, Woodruff and Jennings with Davies at home.  

Why are we worried about playoff roster?

I wanted to keep Thames just for the left handed bat, but he has really done nothing at the plate lately.  

Nice list Ammo...I would replace Broxton with Jennings...think there is a need for another lefty in the pen...really iffy on Davies, but need a 4th starter

The Brewers also announced their 25-man NLDS roster and it includes only 11 pitchers, allowing them to keep extra outfielders Keon Broxton and Domingo Santana. Broxton is coveted for defensive ability and pinch-running, and Santana has been the team's best pinch-hitter.

The pitching staff excluded Chase Anderson and Zach Davies, who had been members of the starting rotation. Left-handed relievers Dan Jennings and Xavier Cedeno also were omitted because righties are preferred against Colorado's right-handed power hitters.

First baseman Eric Thames also did not make the roster.

In the playoffs, teams can update their 25-man roster for each round. So changes could be made if the Brewers advance to the NLCS and World Series.

Manager Craig Counsell announced Wednesday that Game 1 would be a "bullpen day" for the Brewers instead of naming one of the pitchers in the starting rotation at the end of the season. The Brewers' relief corps was the team's strength during the regular season and Woodruff, 25, joined it as a September call-up and performed well.

In seven outings over the final month, Woodruff went 1-0 with a 0.73 earned run average. In 12 1/3 innings, he allowed 10 hits and only one run with three walks and 16 strikeouts.

I'm assuming they can revisit for NLCS. Changes you suggest?

Wouldn't change a thing.   Probably need to plan for 4 starters instead of 3 though.  I'd go with:

Chacin
Wiley
Gio
Woodruff / Peralta / JR (Bullpen Game)

Save Burns for middle relief. 

They may want to get Cedeno on the roster some how so we have a LOOGY.   If that's the case I'm guessing it's Peralta or JR that get left off.  

I'm stoked cause Burns is from Bakersfield and he's been doing great. Used to pitch at the high school just north of the school I teach at.

Good article- don’t agree on Broxton though. Yeah he got a bomb as a white flag moment in the NLDS... but he strikes out a lot. And not tough battles..  like 3-5 pitches and he’s walking back to the dugout.

Santana can hit, and he’ has a hot bat. They’ll need to score this series, and Broxton is damned near an automatic out against good pitching. 

Broxton is the only SB threat off the bench, unless Arica isn't starting, so he has value there.   He's no sure thing SB but the best we got.

Is that more valuable than a LOOGY?  Not in a 7 game series IMO because of our heavy reliance on the pen.   The extra arm could really come in handy in a situation where you don't want to double switch.   Say early in a game and you just need one more out to get through the 5th.
