Rodgers has never looked happier and more content. He knows this offense is lethal. They can eviscerate a defense many ways. This is so different than 2011. It’s wildly inconsistent but has the ability to kill a defense in a hurry. Or slowly. And he digs all of it.

He knows they are set to win another Lombardi.

Then he’s gonna retire.

It seems a bit ridiculous to me to focus on the negatives when your favorite team is getting ready to host a conference championship game.

But here's a negative from the game thread - the number of Packer fans who have no clue when a team should go for two.  If you're up by 15, you go for two.  Every time.  You see, in the NFL teams alternate possessions.  Getting up by three possessions significantly changes the game going forward.

I disagree. If it was late in the 3rd or early 4th Q then yes go for 2. Early 3rd? Just take your xtra-point & be happy. 2-pt conversions are 47% successful across the league / 1-pt is like 98% -- You'll notice later, the Rams were only down by 7 instead of 8 had they taken the extra point. By missing the 2-point conversion they gave the Rams an INCREASED CHANCE to catch up. Don't give me "ANALytics" either. I know that when you  SUCCESSFULLY CONVERT the 2-POINTS - then YES you reap the benefits & your winning % goes up. Of course Mason blew the 1st extra point so then they were trying to "chase it" & play catch-up.

Force the other team to catch you by taking the better odds & it's a gut reaction/momentum type of thing too. Early in the 3rd quarter? Take the 1 & be happy.

In the end, none of it mattered but it may in the future.

Because there's always the possibility the next opponent could take advantage of those negatives.

Three weeks from now when the Packers win the Super Bowl, those negatives won't matter because there won't be a next opponent to take advantage of them.

Mason didn't blow, it was a bad snap.  Altho Scott did get the ball down I think Mason thought it was too late to kick without getting a block.  The whole play was a cluster.  Nobody seemed to know what todo once the bad snap happened. Once again, that is on the coach.

I had serious ptsd flashbacks to 2014 on that play.

Looking at highlights, it seems that nearly every guy generated yards after contact. In both the run and the pass game. While the o line was lights out, the effort by everyone to withstand hits and stay upright was really impressive last night. Might be the best collective effort I've seen in a long time.

+. OLine.  Give it up for the big guys!  Their protection of #12 this year has been stellar.

+ Jonesy.  I know it won’t be easy to retain him, but I sure hope we can.  We’re just not the same team without him.

+ Jamaal.

+ Defense.  Where has this level of tackling and stopping the run been all year?  What a great effort.

+ MLF play calling.  Brilliant.  I was a little surprised we didn’t have a few more deep shots downfield, but what he did was very effective.

+ The crowd.  Wow, just watchign on tv they sure sounded awful loud for 8k+.

- Tavon Austin is not cutting it as a PR or as a jet motion guy.  Does anyone know if we might get Ervin back?  I’m a big fan of Swerve and what he adds to this offense.

- Weather.  It’s supposed to be colder next Sunday and I hope it’s freezing!

Speaking of IR guys, getting Billy Winn back would be nice, too.

If MLF would have had the talent that 2011 offense had, they might have averaged 50 a game. As it was, they averaged 35 based on an offensive scheme that was basically line up their WRs and TE where they had Jennings, Nelson, Jones, Driver, Cobb, and Finley and just overwhelm the dime CB or safeties in coverage. Sitton, Bulaga, Lang, and Wells were 4/5ths of a dominant OL (Marshall Newhouse at LT).

Two things kept that team from going back-to-back. First, losing Nick Collins and second, Philbin's son dying the week of their playoff game. If neither of those happens, MM and AR probably have two rings and MM would still be here on a lifetime contract.

Found on the internet: #Rams CB Jalen Ramsey allowed a passer rating of 144.4 when targeted as the nearest defender against the #Packers, according to @NextGenStats

That’s my all pro. I bet Jaire didn’t come close to that. What was Jaire’s? 0.00?

Why would he retire? Bahk will be back mid-season next year. He got to play this year behind a line that might have had the best player at each position on the line in the NFL before Bakh's injury. Bahk and Linsley were both the top player at tackle and center and Jenkins might actually be better than both of them.

35 million to play behind a great OL and the best WR he's had in his career?

I believe someone posted that he was the closest defender on 3 targeted passes and those attempts went for -3 yards in completions.

Robert Woods, Van Jefferson & Josh Reynolds are not even in the same galaxy as Adams.

Would've liked to see Jaire vs Kupp. That would've been fun. Kupp & Adams are good buddies.

For all the angst about Pettine, his scheme isn't philosophically much different than Fritz Shurmer. Sure, I get it's a 3-4 versus a 4-3, but the goal is the same. Don't give up any big plays, make the offense execute 10 play drives to score, and hope that one of your DL makes a play to get a sack or one of your DBs makes a play. This is not Dom's defense where we'd see WRs (even crappy ones) running 10 yards clear of everyone multiple times a game because of broken assignments.

Shurmer's scheme worked because he had the best Packer DL of all time with the greatest DL pass rusher of all time, two other elite pash rushers (S. Dotson and S. Jones) and an immovable DT to stop the run. Pettine doesn't have Reggie White so they are going to give up more plays. Z. Smith is on the same level as Dotson or Sean Jones and Gary is getting closer to a Sean Jones type (all pass rush, little else).

Maybe he gets the Jeopardy gig, and a talking head job on Sundays.

And there is something to be said about riding off into the sunset as winner.

That said he'll be back .....somewhere.

Agree 100% with this.

Situationally, I think you take the point.  It was the first drive of the second half, no need to panic into trying to make up the failed conversion.  Kicking would've put them up by 16, which would've caused the Rams to score two TDs and two conversions. Sure, making the 2-pt put them up by 3 scores, but the Rams weren't exactly lighting it up offensively.  Moose thought it was the wrong call too, not that what he thinks really matters.

i kind of been thinking that too. Wins MVP of league, wins MVP of Super Bowl, Win Super Bowl then signs a huge contract to host jeopardy for the next 20 years....

It almost seemed like every other drive the defense would play well.  Give up a long scoring drive one series, the next one get a sack and stop them.

But hard to complain with a win!

Well the Rams gained 30 yards on their last 14 plays of the game. Mike Pet had it dialed up perfect the last part of the game.

Ramsey got worked by Lazard on at least 1 play IIRC.

Jalen did not have a good game.

Yes, the play out of the EZ where we got the first down. Lizard was Ramsey's guy. I would be interested in knowing who were the others that caught passes against Ramsey.

Adam’s got him at least twice.

The game was nothing but positives for me yesterday. Some random notes from the game.

1. The crowd. Holy crap. I think we went above and beyond with generating noise. Got a little quiet there during the 3rd quarter lull but when the Rams were on the field for the most part it was loud. Glad to hear that it was also noticed down in the field and on TV. My voice is shot today.

2. After every TD, they are now playing clips of Gold Member on the Jumbotron. Just freaking awesome.

3. The crowd LOVES Bobby Tonyan. I mean, it's John Kuhn level love. There's no chant for him but people flip out when he does anything in the game. Any time the ball is in the GOLD ZONE people a screaming to get it to Bobby.

4. Crosby didn't come out of the locker room for quite some time after the halftime break. Scott was on the sideline kicking into the net off the practice tee. We thought for sure his day was over. Then at the last minute he came out of the locker room with his left arm in his pocket, clearly favoring that right shoulder. Doc's comment about the shoulder separation makes a lot of sense now.

5. Don't know if they showed him at all on the broadcast but Lil Wayne was there for the game. He was on the field in a long white fur coat for a bit before the 2nd half started and then was featured on the Jumbotron during Roll Out The Barrel. He was standing in the concourse entrance right about the visitor tunnel.

6. Best experience I've ever had at Lambeau, hands down. Not even close. Would have been AMAZING with a full house in my normal seats but it felt like real big time game experience with just over 1/10th capacity. Well done!

7. Got a shot at going back next Sunday to see Tommy Boy and crew lose and send us to his new home to win another Lombardi trophy. Hoping my Ticketmaster queue luck holds up one more time!

GO PACK GO!!
