Veteran free agents signing for cheap in the offseason because they want to win a super bowl with the Packers. Steve Smith? Yes Please.

Love it if DD retires and he would return punts. I wait until the summer to get all hot and bothered over this however...

True. The point is that no matter what happens from this point forward in the season - we have a program that is built to last and veterans will be glad to join up for a chance to win. Thanks again TT.

Even some of his practice punts I saw in the background were telling of him not being dialed in. Had the Packers had to punt, I'm not sure we win this one with how Mastay appeared on the sideline.

Let me add, Driver came to play. He had the veteran look and I love seeing guys like him and Woodson lead this team. Plenty of leaders, but those two are real favorites of mine along with Rodgers.

my thoughts, too, as I was watching the game unfold...

none of us know what goes on in the locker room...but you have to believe that these two keep the defense and offense on an even kilter and focused on the job that needs to be done

good post
+ We beat the living piss out of the #1 seed, on the road in a place where "Matty Ice" doesn't lose, on national television, with every football fan in America watching, and earned a return trip to the NFC Championship game in the process. Aaron Rodgers turned in one of the best performances by a QB in NFL postseason history. Mike McCarthy coached his best game as the Packer's skipper.

+ Greg Jennings. Donald Driver. James Jones. Jordy Nelson. Best receiving corps in the NFL, and they all stepped up and delivered huge performances tonite.
++

-Rodgers - might be the single best QB performance in playoff history
-CMIII - man possessed
-Tramon- his pick 6 turned the game around
-WRs- Jennings had the fumble, but Jones and Driver and Nelson were awesome
-Bishop- he made several big hits and set the tone - what a diamond in the rough
-ROTTT- when you look at this team, how many "bad" players are around? Not many
-We are one game away from the Superbowl

--

-Slocum - don't want to b!tch too much but he is terrible
-Refs- way too quick to pull out the flag on defensive holding and PI
-Buck and Acheman- they are annoying as hell, but come to think about it, they don't lose when they call the game!
Loved how the Pack played, reminded me of the SF and Seattle pLyoff games. With that said:

+defensive backs playing the ball
Starks running downhill again
McCarthy mixing up the plays and opening it up after Atlanta scored their last TD. I wS sure he was going tomtry to run 15 minutes off the clock as usual and let them back in

- o-line needs to protect better, AA made a lot of great ays getting away, but might not be so lucky next week.
-Can they just get rid of the prevent defense, the falcons last TD was just too easy with that much time left
- WRs fumbles, these need to stop

As for the refs, again not to good but they did call the illegal contact and PI on the 2d TD drive, which we often don't get and the offensive PI against the Falcons.
The first play of the game still has me fuming, Woodson was breMing on the ball, was early dragged by the WR and then the ref says it's not "DPI" on Woodson b/c the ball wAs uncatchable.

Dint get me wrong, Pack played great and I am estatic, but a few different bounces and calls and it might not have been a blowout.

You're right - and they have to televise (hopefully) 2 more Packer games .

+ Everything. Saw the game at Gabe's in St Paul it was a madhouse.

- can't think of anything other than the tool Viking fan who showed up wearing a Packers Suck shirt to a Packer bar

QBs will ignore his side of the field. they will realize if he is playing off that he is baiting them into a throw.

I keep wondering when QB's are going to figure this out. I'm so surprised when I see a QB throw his way.

At the bottom of the page.

I wanna punch Aaron rogers in his nut sack for bein just too good man he is good

Big Grin

Now you understand exactly WHY Lovie & the Bears didn't want the Packers in the tournament.

Negatives---

B$ PI call on Shields. Not happy about that call at all. He didn't do anything wrong.

Nope, happy pussy. Even watched the game live for the first time since DVRs. Obviously no point in raining on the celebration parade at this point (as Boris says, enjoy the moment). Maybe mid-week I can address some concerns, although that'll be tougher than usual.
+ the KO return TD - this allowed the Packers to control the ball and put Altanta's D on the field for about 14 straight minutes
+ trying to run the ball
+++++ A -Rod
+++++ Tramon for being a complete CB. Owned the cons
+ Matt Ice Cream - melts when the heat in on

- Terrible PI call on Shields
- the spotting in the game
- coverage on the KO return
+ The look on Woodson's face before the game. The boys came ready to play.
+ Tremon Williams. His 2nd qr picks were game changers. I about lost it on the pick-6, screaming at the tv.
+ AR12 and WRs. All world.
+ Defense. Held the #1 seed to 14 pts in their own building in biggest game of the year.
+ MM and staff. It was as close to a perfect game as we'll see.

- None. Zip, zero, nada. The Jennings fumble was a good hustle play by the Falcon LB. Weems is all-pro for a reason - he gave us a glimpse of that in the 1st game. Great players make great plays.

I told my better half early in the game that I wanted the Packers up by 2 scores at the 2 minute warning. No more cardiac finishes. The team exceeded my expectations.

I think this team, with the way they are playing, will be in Dallas. I worry some about the weather next weekend - if we get Chicago it's going to be cold and that can be an equalizer. But, wow, it's hard to imagine either the Bears or Hags beating this Packer team right now.

Packers handled the crowd well. Shut them up in first half with long drives. Then when they revived themselves at the start of the second half, did it again. Sent them home early. Left only the loud Packer fans in the house.

I want rings for Clifton, Woodson and Driver. I don't buy the "if not this year, next year" crap. There is only this year. Who knows what could happen next year. Do it now.

I'm sure everyone is waiting for these nuggets of analysis. No team is perfect, but that was damn close last night.

To yourself, please.

You vastly overrate the quality and attraction of your thoughts, Sir.

I would have thought the same, but with the references in this and the game thread, someone obviously pays attention. I can certainly live without posting my customary cautions. If the object here is just to revel in the moment, that's fine - it's Boris' board. Besides, there's a lot of 'anything from here on out is gravy' sentiment, so perhaps there really isn't any point in addressing potential problem areas. The only counterpoint is that the Nellies are usually banged for only coming out after poor showings. As Boris says, "enjoy the moment".
