I think it's safe to say not many people are too confident about their chances in Minny.  I think the Packers still win the division if they win their two other games.  A first round bye would be nice but I don't expect it.

$5 bucks says Theilen returns that week against the Pack.

Guaranteed.

Perhaps it’s the evolution of the system, but you can clearly see when the scouting from the week runs out- right about the start of the second quarter, when the wheels seem to inevitably come off the offense. This team will need to learn how to win the second and 3rd quarters if they ever want to get to the destination.

Any word on Z? They lose him it’s disastrous...

Pos

Win is a win

Tyler Erwin MVP on ST punt returns.

A Jones MVP on O

A Amos MVP on D with sack INT and 6 tackles (penalty wiped out his fumble recovery).

Nags

Penalties negating big plays esp on D

12 still holding ball too long (4 sacks) staring down 17. He even said in presser they need to get ball to 17 and other guys who have made plays.

For better or worse this is the Pack this year, O inconsistent but does enough to win. D gives up big plays but is tough in red zone.

Let's wreck da Bares.

There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to the offense on many possessions.  For example, we had a 10 play, 61 yard drive, with 5 rushes for 43 yards that resulted in a field goal.  Next possession, three passes, three incompletions.

Too often, the offense seems to be a "grab bag" of plays, as plays don't seem to be setting up other plays within series or from series to series.

Rodgers in the post game remarks:  " I know there's a lot of conversation about the identity of the offense and all that stuff. We're figuring it out week to week, I think."

Exactly! The abandonment of the run at times was perplexing.  AJ made a nice run with a lateral around the end, the next time they tried it the Skins were playing for it and stuffed it, but they were well set up for a fake and reverse the other side.

The outlet pass to the backs was open several times but Rodgers kept holding the ball looking to make a big play down field.  They could have passed 5-10 yarders all day.

I am watching the Rams-Seahawks game. The play calling by the Rams is really good. Makes me jealous. I am not sure if they are that much better than the Packers but I wonder why MLF doesn’t seem to utilize our team to do the same? Or at least some of it.

Edit: I see that Mr. Tittle thinks pretty much the same.

I'll see your $5 & raise you $495.00. 100% guarantee they've been saving him for Green Bay.

Hopefully the Chargers give the vikes fits next week.

I hope so, but I think the Chargers will lay down for the vikings, just like every other opponent who has the tools to beat them, has done throughout the years. You cannot count on any team beating the vikings, when you need them too. We need to take care of business and run the table. Nothing else matters.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Offense clicks on all cylinders, then for whatever reason goes mia. Perplexing to me.

Got the win, even if "ugly"

Aaron Jones featured more in both the passing and running game

Use of all tight ends

Defense and special teams was pretty good for the most part

Neg:

Agreed Slowmo - offense is still trying to figure out identity

Seems like Savage has hit the rookie wall

Deep shots to Jimmy Graham - that should be MVS (what happened to him?)

Based on past experience its more likely 12 opting out of run than playcalling.

Rodgers needs to realize that he's far closer to the end of his career than he is the middle. It's okay to drop in 5-10-yarders vs 50-yarders. He also needs to realize that by looking away from Adams, he will help Adams get open for those big gainers. Go to Lazard; all he does is catch the ball and run hard. Go to Tonyan; all he does is stretch the field and catch the ball. Go to AJ; all he does is catch the ball and get YAC. If he does those things, Adams will be open on the deeper patterns.

It seems like he will go through stretches, usually early in the game, where he will take the dink and dunk passes and then once we get off the scripted plays or later in the game he falls back on those bad habits of waiting for something big. When Adams was out he was sticking with the plan more throughout the game out of necessity. If I was MLF I'd be showing him film of what he was doing in those 4 games.

Aaron Nagler's "Gut Reactions" at cheeseheadtv  sums it up:

https://cheeseheadtv.com/blog/...n-bay-washington-753

  • The opening plan of getting the ball to the tight ends and running backs was fun
  • Until it wasn't.
  • The offense is so disjointed after the initial script. Just hard to watch.
  • That said, always love seeing Big Bob Tonyan in the end zone.
  • Why LaFleur refuses to run the offense through Aaron Jones from the opening snap to the last is baffling
  • Has anyone else noticed that Za'Darius gets those injuries when opposing offenses are putting together a length drive? Some truly sly vet stuff there to disrupt the flow...
  • Rodgers often has opportunities underneath but holds the ball or double clutches and its maddening.
  • The Packers have a...punt returner???
  • I love watching Elgton Jenkins play the game of football. Watching him finish a block is just the best.
  • Preston Smith definitely looked like he had a little extra pep in his step against his former team.
  • Remember this summer when Rodgers was talking about looking at cut ups of this offense and all the big plays they saw in the passing game? I wonder when they're going to get to some of them...
  • The Lambeau crowd was awesome today, even though the Packers were listless throughout much of the game.
  • I still love this team, but right now its like a relative who is frustrating to no end and who needs to get their act together but they're blood and if anyone else talks shit about them, I will throw hands.
  • Go Pack

That’s blasphemous. I’m old enough to remember anything involving not running the ball was certified as a Mike McCarthy issue. 🙂
