Bush saves the year for another week.
Flynn, weak arm and all, put it together when it was needed. If he had just a bit more arm, that ball to Jordy is a TD. And speaking of...
Jordy
Quarless
Lacy is just darn good.

I don't know that it's been mentioned, but I thought Tramon played pretty well. He actually looked a little physical, sure tackling. Usually he looks afraid to hit someone.
Bush and the punter. Nice work gentlemen!
not sure how to rate the defense. though they only gave up basically 7 points, not since Yancy Thigpen have we been the beneficiary of so many dropped passes.
Lacy is awesome.
Quarless came through
Nelson was clutch
Starks ran hard
we saw a screen ANd it was effective
Masthay with a punt that brought a tear to my eye
Thanks Philly
OL was brutal
DL could get no pressure
we have no kick return game
Our defenders drop so many INT opportunities
Kuhn
Too many red zone fg attempts
predictable down and distance play calls
Dang, Lacy reminds me of Earl Campbell.
YES! A lot of people have been comparing him to Stevan Jackson or Lynch or Bettis but I've always thought Campbell is a much better comparison.
+Flynn had a better mental clock and feel for pressure. Open receivers are meaningless if you don't have time to hit them--pull it down and run for your life
- Capers D is still very predictable...Great individual efforts, I hate to rain on a nice defensive day, but some big time drops, including the screen play near the end of the half kept us in the game

More Richardson, less Jennings.
Lacy
Quarless
ST, especially Masthay

Didn't like or agree with MM going for two against the Queens and the same thing yesterday. It's the right call at a certain point in the game, but not that early.
Flynn was solid overall, but he left a lot of plays on the field and needs better pocket awareness.
Like the play call where we show run and roll Flynn out to the other side where Quarless is usually wide open. Like to see that in the red zone, where the play calling has been particularly wretched.
if you are an opposing team and Green Bay is on the 6 yard line, you may as well put 11 DB's on the field and cover the corner fade, cause Mike will call it three consecutive times.
Lacy should have 10+ rushing TDs by now.
What are you guys talking about with Matty Ice? He's the king of 4th quarter comebacks! Better than Manning, Brady, and Bress! [/sarcasm] Is there a more useless statistic than 4th quarter comebacks? To me that's a negative statistic, it means you're losing at the end of the game. I'll take a comfortable lead at the end over a heroic final drive.
As far as the Falcons game:
+
Johnny Jolly is outplaying everyone on that DLine. Sure he makes some mistakes, but he seems to come up with key plays at the right time. I'm glad he's back.
_
The pass protection was a big let down. Bahktiari seems to be hitting the rookie wall a little, and Lacy showed his inexperience in protection. Flynn didn't help them out and I think at least a couple of the sacks are his fault.
+ Jolly
+ All the OLB's
+ Jordy
+ making the switch at S.
- Latimore getting on field, hurt 2 plays later.
- Flynn. No pocket awareness or presnap adjustments. Made the line look bad.
PACKERS WON!!! Nuff said.
The "rookie wall" has as much to do with teams finally having enough tape on a guy to scheme his weaknesses, as it does about the mental and physical grind of a 16 game season. I'm not sure what is going on with Bak but I hope his arrow can keep pointing up or we'll be strapped at LT again.

Jarrett Bush: He has taken a beating here and rightfully so for the most part for his defense liabilities but he came up very big in the final minutes for the 4th quarter. I read the article in JSonline and loved this:
"When 'JB' first got out there Gonzalez was saying, 'Chill out, young buck. Chill out, young buck,'" said Williams. "And 'JB' was, like, 'Hey, I'm eight years in the league.'"

Defense played well really only gave up 7
Richardson > Jennings
---
OL needs to play better
D needs to get better pressure on the QB we are losing the LOS
To Gonzalez everyone is a young buck. Dude is ancient and still productive.
Did he drop 2 yesterday?
Yes but so did guys half his age. Bush actually made a great pass defense on that last throw to Gonzo. Hard to fault the old man on that one.
The 4th down pass Bush defended Gonzo still almost caught it while on his ass... if he had it would have been a 1st down. If ATL continues the drive for the winning FG, Bush is likely the whipping boy today. Game of inches.
It is a game of inches and Bush read the play was where he was supposed to be and did make the play. Gonzo almost made a hell of a catch falling to his ass. It would be hard for me to fault a DB for a great catch.
Just want to give the young man credit for a great couple of plays.
Thompson's post-game.

Oh nonsense...ROTTT has proven he can squander draft picks in any location!

Eddie Lacy (ankle), Brad Jones (ankle), Jamari Lattimore (knee) the injuries from yesterday.
Neg#2 - Jones might be able to play vs DAL
+ MD Jennings getting benched
I think Matt Ryan is a good to very good QB that is capable of winning a Superbowl with sufficient talent around him. He's nowhere near the level of Rodgers/Brady/Manning/Brees however. I think most people that follow the NFL know this. Hell, half the announcers that are hyping him up as elite probably know it too.
*Cough* Joe Flacco *cough*.
There is a definite second tier of QBs in the league, and I generally include Flacco, Ryan, Romo, and even Stafford. They are just good enough to win with enough talent, but can't provide the consistency game-to-game, much less year-to-year like the Brady- and Manning-level QBs.
Another difference is any of these teams had ARod or Brady, they would likely raise the play of that offense. Flacco, Ryan, and company won't. Or can't.
Game notes:
It was a very physical game; both teams were bringing the wood, and both teams had some big hits. Lacy is a bulldozer; he got hit hard a couple of times and it didn't faze him much at all. I seem to remember one guy even bouncing off him after making contact!
I mentioned in chat we had a lot of TEs on the roster with too little production from them as a group. Quarless, primarily, and Bostic changed that. I hope that trend continues.
Same problems still exist on the OL; in addition to the poor blocking, they are missing assignments. I'll cut 'em a bit of slack because of the shuffling, but that should be pretty basic to them.
'Stretch' plays or pitchouts to Lacy haven't been working, but he and Starks had a little success cutting back on a zone block.
For as inspiring as the defense was in the second half, it's still very much smoke and mirrors. Opposing offenses continue to have receivers wide open, and only their own ineptness prevents the completion. A good QB could shred our defense for 40-50 points.
Tackling did seem to be much improved. On a lot of completions, tackles seemed to be sure and made quickly. Too many exceptions, of course, but still better than previous weeks.
This win was a tremendous aid for legitimizing our playoff chances.

This doesn't make sense to me...the way the game played out perfectly justified going for two. Would you have preferred to have been up by 2 points or 3 points during the last few minutes of the game? The difference between being up 1 or 2 is nil.
It was a pretty chilly day to be in Lambeau, and the empty seats were noticeable especially in the new upper deck sections. Fans were really into the game though, even though that manifested as booing at the end of the first half. Lots of people around us were booing...I wasn't one of them, but I understand the sentiment. Coming off the Lions blowout, the offense especially wasn't showing much to that point. On the other hand it was LOUD at the end of the game. Seeing the Lions score on my phone on the way out was the icing on the cake.
I don't get the angst out of going for two either? It's a no brainer in that situation. You lose nothing if you miss. You make it a 3 point game if you're successful.
Almost a full quarter remaining is too early for that call and you lose a point with the miss. The Packers score another TD and it's still a one possession game; they kick the XP and it's a two possession game.
MM called it a no-brainer as well and I strongly disagree.
Huge if on scoring another touchdown. Even if they do, best the Lions could do would be to tie.
That looked to me like the exact textbook scenario to go for the two points. How bad would it have been to lose by a last second FG?
Falcons, not Lions.

Not saying I disagree, but the above two statements taken together sound kind of funny.
