I have always felt that McCarthy is undervalued as a mind in the NFL. While the usual suspects are knob polishing Bellichik, Andy Reid, Shannahan...  There's McCarthy, still winning, not grabbing headlines like doufus in NY. Class all the way, right at the front if the line as a leader and innovator in the game today.

But now, there's a feeling of "prove it" time for MCCarthy and his staff. 3 losses in a row and your season on the line basically- you gotta come through. You're at home against a bad team- take care of business. Lose this one and not only is your season in jeopardy, but you're looking at McCarthy wondering what's going on. Do we start thinking he's run his course?
It's not that black and white I'm afraid (re: McCarthy). Yes, injuries happen but they happen to all teams. But if you're elite, you still win.

I don't think McCarthy coached a very good game last week. I'm as optimistic as they come, but it's definitely prove it time for McCarthy. I want to see this team explode on Minny like they did in '10 against NY. Time for this team to rise up. Don't come bout half dead like last week. McCarthy needs to lead the way.

I don't think Coach had a lot of choice expanding Tolzein's options. When what is likely our best offensive weapon at the moment (Lacy) production has been a fraction of what it was previously, you have to attempt the pass.

Now, if we were getting any kind of play out of the OL, it wouldn't really matter how many defenders the Vikes play, but that's another story...

In any case, I would think they have been training Tolzein this week to let him audible if he gets a favorable matchup on a defender, and getting the ball out of his hand as quickly as possible. I expect the Vikes to send a blitz against passing formations when down and distance is in their favor, assuming their front 4 aren't dominating our guys, and he needs to be able to hit the hot receiver. I hope they eventually wind up with a LB matched up against Jordy or Boykin and get toasted for some big plays.

Jarrett Bush seeing significant playing time = Ponder having a decent game

Oh the horror!

The kick in the nuts type season just continues and I just don't understand this extent of injuries at all.   When you have a problem fielding a team of 43 players just about every week something's seriously wrong.   Memo to the league- how about expanding the active rosters?

Tramon - lather, rinse, repeat.

Williams, in his seventh NFL season, made eight tackles (all solo stops, including two for losses) and intercepted his first pass of the season in last Sunday’s 27-13 loss to the Giants. It was a performance reminiscent of late in the 2010 season, when Williams was one of the key components on the Super Bowl XLV team.

Is it time for Sherrod to get his chance as starting right tackle?

[...] Offensive coordinator Tom Clements was asked Thursday if it was time to play Sherrod. "I'm not going to answer that," he replied.

James Campen, who coaches the offensive line, declared Sherrod physically and mentally ready to play but wouldn't say if he wanted to play him.

"I'm not answering a question like that," said Campen. "The other guy is starting right now and we're hoping to get Donnie back. We'll see how it goes."

Barclay suffered an unspecified knee injury Nov. 10 and hasn't worked since. Based on how gingerly Barclay was walking in sweat clothes as he observed practice Friday, it's a good bet he won't play against Detroit on Thanksgiving, either.

Campen said he was hard on Newhouse just as he has been on all his players.

"(Newhouse) improved in a couple areas last week," said Campen. "He needs to be consistent and be confident in what he's doing out there.

"We forget. He started 30-plus games." continue

There's lot more past the jump.  Well worth the click, imo.  There's quotes from a bunch of the lineman talking about how they think he's doing.

Hope Sherrod can get back up to speed soon.  Newhouse should be embarrassed for himself.  His run  blocking is as bad as it gets.

edit: Safeties Coach Darren Perry also conducted an interview about where Burnett and Jennings are at.  Link
