Not sounding great for Raji. NFL Network's Ian Rapaport, who is usually nails reporting on the Packers, now saying:

@RapSheet: #Packers DT BJ Raji has tests today on his upper arm he injured last night. He was optimistic last night. But not a lot of optimism now.

@RapSheet: The belief is that #Packers NT BJ Raji tore his bicep last night, sources say. Tests will show whether it's fully or partially torn.

p.s. Agree about Packer Update. Too much "I told you so" for my tastes. Nonetheless another info source that you have to consider the good and the bad about when perusing.

I know JJSD would agree with me on the solution at NT

Jordy. Nelson.

If not Pickett then it looks like the only other options are Aubreyo Franklin, Isaac Sopoaga,  Johnny Jolly, or what we have on the roster. I'm sure we can find a run stuffer, but were looking at zero production from an NT against the pass.

Pretty sure Sopoaga just signed with somebody.

Tough break for both Raji and the team but there's really only one player on the roster that the team can't afford to lose. I expect what's on the roster to adequately fill the position and like the year they won it all it's next man up.

It figures... The guy is in a prove it year, looks dominant... OF FRIGGIN' COURSE he's done for the year!

F-ing snake bit, man. No matter what this defense goes now, it'll always have that cloud "what if they would have has Raji"? I know, next man up and all, but it gets old every year losing out on key guys. He may not be THE key guy, but was "a" key guy...

It's time we all stop kidding ourselves. Eddie Lacy is clearly the best NT on the roster. He might be good enough to play NT and DE at the same time.

My Eddie man crush is running vast and deep today.

Really? He was looking dominant? says who? 12 tackles last year in a "prove it" year. He is replaceable IMHO

I think I missed the part where Raji has looked dominant.  Sure, I would prefer to have Raji healthy, but it's been quite a while since he's been an impact player.  Moving him to NT wasn't going to change that.  He's the same player today he was least season... and the season before that... and the season before that.

He was looking good in camp and in the first 3 pre-season games back to his natural position. Dominant might be a reach. But he looked like 2010 all over again.

Datone Jones is still the key to make things go in 2014. He's going to see nothing but 1-1 from the guard with Peppers and CM3. He needs to win the majority of those snaps and live in the backfield. Daniels is the one guy on the line this defense can't lose.

I think Boyd is ready to start.

He looked great this year in my view. It was also the consensus. And the drop off from him to Guillon or whatever is significant, IMO. It shifts the depth of the DL and makes them weaker.

It's bad news.

I disagree, guess we will see

This kind of sums up how I feel about it.  He's a below average player and his getting hurt may turn out to be a blessing in disguise.  Nobody offered him any big deals in free agency despite his "big name" status.  There was a reason for that.  Someone is going to say in his defense that he eats up blocks, but he doesn't.  The team was fully prepared to let him go in free agency.

Losing Rodgers for the year is BAD news.  Losing Raji is disappointing but there are a lot more important players IMO

I also know that the Packers have had their share of injuries but name a team that hasn't.  If there is any positive to come out of this it's that better to have it happen now so TT and the team can adjust

Something to consider....While the Packers lose a starter in Raji, he's not a full-time player. Last season, Capers used his base 3-4 defense on just 252 of 1,015 snaps (24.8 percent). Raji was slated to see some playing time in the nickel package, but Daniels and Jones are the primary duo in that package. Raji would not have played at all in the dime defense.

That's a good point Packy

They played a lot of nickel last year and with them wanting to get Clinton Dix and Hayward more playing time they may feature more sub packages which means more of guys like Daniels and Jones anyway

Never dismiss a guy that went FA without a sniff. Raji looked like a guy that was taking it personal. GB could have put Raji's slight to use.

The DL isn't as strong without Raji. It just isn't.

I guess at this point I don't see why we shouldn't be thinking half glass full even with Raji getting hurt

Peppers looks good,  the RB trio is as good as I have ever seen, OL is nasty, and there is a crapload of quality depth to a level where they will have to cut guys that will be immediately signed by other teams

Oh and we have QB equivalent of LeBron James (the best player in his sport) leading our squad

What's not to like

He really has been a bucket of pure ass the past few years.... it's not that big of a deal.

I concur.  He was horrible last year, I had no visions of him returning to pro bowl form.
