Shazier has looked incredibly hit and miss. When he guesses wrong he's really wrong. Ran himself out of a lot of plays already.

Yup.
Mosley is going to be good. Shazier looks like a guy learning to play the middle. Borland is a better ILB than Shazier right now. Will be interesting to watch those two.
Clinton-Dix was a really good pick.
Nance and Simms get worse, not each season, but by each broadcast. Execrable. And now they're doing two games a week, good heavens. Sound good only by comparison to Cowher and Deion.

Nantz and Simms are terrified of saying anything inflammatory so they go radio silent. There was nothing wrong with that hit. Nothing dirty. Nothing to draw a penalty.

Penalties like that make me ill.
I really and truly blame Roger Goodell for crap like that. It's a simple directive that needs to be changed. All he needs to say to officials is, "If you're not absolutely 100% sure it's a penalty, DON'T throw the flag."
Instead, he and the league have the exact opposite mentality. Their mentality is "If you're unsure then THROW THE FLAG and we'll sort it all out on Monday to see if it really should have been thrown.".
Absolute crock of s*&t the way they handle penalties, particularly in the past 5 - 10 years it's gotten way way worse. We don't watch the NFL to see refs throw flags. Just a simple change in attitude by the league would change that significantly, but they're too gutless to do it.

I have a great deal of sympathy with the idea that far too many penalties are being called. The only thing is, when there's a play where the referee isn't certain it's a penalty, and the tackled player suffers a major injury, the media are going to have a conniption fit to rival what's going on over Ray Rice.
