Is it just me or has Demovsky been wrong more than right since moving to ESPN? Maybe I'm way off, but it just seems that way.

Bad Bob is probably the Grand Wizard/Poobah of the   to get clicks, so indeed who knows whether Rob D has this right or not. It's possible he's throwing this out there as a pure guess but I do see ESPN is running with this story on NFL Insiders just now.

 

If Jordy agreed to a 4 year deal, he would be 33 at his next go round at a contract. Unless he's ungodly productive/healthy or he's willing to do a bargain contract it's possible in today's NFL this is last one. Or at least his last BIG contract. So I can't blame him for getting as much as he can.

Demovsky is pretty well-connected and I have no reason to doubt his reporting. Much of that is just posturing and the organization will take the same approach they did with Jennings. I don't see Jordy making the same mistake Greg did in overvaluing his worth and leaving all sorts of money on the table.

So Jordy's agent just set the high mark for the negotiations on a per-year basis.  Great.  Never seen this before.  

 

He'll wind up getting about $8-9M/year, and that seems about right.

I'm sure Demovsky is well connected with Jordy's agent. What this means is that the negotiations have commenced in earnest and Jordy's agent is playing games. The Packers may or may not play the game themselves by way of some reporter "talking to his source". The media doesn't break big stories anymore, the media is a tool used as a means to an end. Nothing more. Nothing gets out anymore that isn't strategically planned, especially to ESPN. A source familiar with the negotiations...that means it's either Jordy, his wife, his agent, Ted, or Russ Ball. I doubt it's Jordy or his wife and Ted hates the media anyway so its either Russ or the agent...either way it's just a game.

It hurts my feelings that you don't even have to ask anymore if I'm being rude.

Ted will have a number and contract structure in mind and a contingency plan in place in case things go south. If the number is more than Ted wants to pay, Jordy will go elsewhere. No sense in gnashing teeth over this. We all know how this is going to play out.

I'd bet Boykin and Adams get plenty of reps this season.

 

If they look good(or if AR makes them look good), along with Cobb on the roster, TT has the upper hand.

Contingency plan in part was drafting Adams, Abby and Janis. Tough to keep both Jordy and Cobb so keep the draft and develop pipeline full.

I'll believe that when I hear it from Jordy's mouth.  I'm sure Uncle Ted and Jordy will get something worked out, and let the agent know what the final number is.

Contingency might be Abby. Although not as dynamic as Cobb, Abby could play the Wes Welker role quite well. If he proves that in TC, that allows TT to resign Jordy so a veteran presence stays in place for the young guys. TT might be able to keep both depending on salary cap next year, and which players he's looking at cutting. 

I know you can only afford to pay so many people... but I would be shocked if both Jordy and Cobb aren't with GB going into the future.  Both are dynamic football players that do things right on and off the field... in their prime.  

This kind of leaked BS from "sources" just gets frighin' tiresome. It's not necessary, and in Green Bay it defies the tenor of he business side that Thompson has fought so hard to create. It's almost assuredly a complete fabrication...

How the heck can one compare two/one fricken seasons from Boykin and Adams, respectively, to Jordy's body of work?  I disagree.

The history under TT is players being compensated very fairly. In fact, if you look at Hawk, Brad Jones and Burnett there's a very good case that they're often too well compensated. Jordy has made it clear he wants to remain in GB and all indications are the organization wants him here. There's no reason to believe that a deal won't be hammered out without much difficulty.

What he wants won't be what he gets.   Maybe the Packers can throw in some cattle for the farm though those are at a premium these days. 

You don't compare their bodies of work.

 

You compare their probable future production per dollar they will cost you.

 

TT can sign Boykin, Adams, Abby and probably 3 other WR to go along with Cobb for less than $10M per year total.

 

I don't agree with overpaying 30 year old WRs. Not when AR is your QB.

 

Like I said, it will depend on what Boykin and Adams look like this season.

He'll get $30 million over the first three years, and the rest will be window dressing.

As the clear cut #1 option at WR with Adrian Peterson Greg Jennings only put up 800 yards and 4 TDs last year. Very pedestrian. Aaron Rodgers makes good WRs better. 

 

Like Greg and James Jones. Jordy has had success in GB. A ring. Playoff exposure. Great numbers. Now he wants to be paid. Cant fault him for that. 

 

Ted has a number. Probably in the $8 million per neighborhood. If Jordy thinks he's accomplished what he wanted in GB (he has) and thinks he can get more elsewhere (he can) then he'll move on. 

 

Contract negotiations with WRs in GB with AR. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Exactly. If you remember, Jennings was offered a really good contract, but he decided to squeeze a few more thousands to play with Ponder.
