Excellent 5th selection Gutendumbfuck.  Once again proving himself to be smarter than everybody else.

Mock Draft Predictions?

Certainly a consensus late round pick.

NFL.com/ Chad Reuter - free agent

The Athletic - Round 6 Pick 190 to Philadelphia Eagles

CBS Sports - Round 6 Pick 182 to Detroit Lions

Draftwire/USA Today - free agent

Walterfootball.com - Round 7 Pick 216 to Washington Redskins

Gutey sure has a type...

Well, I guess Gute's first ever draft move of getting an additional R1 pick from NO and still selecting Alexander with his R1 pick in 2018 was as good as it gets. Seems like it's been all downhill since.

Martin looks the part of a modern-day NFL player because of his high-cut frame. But he lacks athletically and is a liability in coverage. Good hitter if kept between the tackles. (Chris Trapasso)     D+

Kamal Martin projects as an inside linebacker in an odd front system, where he can play the role of a downhill thud linebacker and plug up gaps. Martin appears to lack the mobility and range to be a sufficient defender in space at the NFL level and as such, pairing him with another ILB and asking him to attack gaps down hill will keep him in his wheelhouse. This is a potential early down defender at the NFL level who should by no means be regularly on the field for 3rd and 6+.

So sounds like there was a decent chance we could have signed this guy and the 3rd round TE as Undrafted free agents. I think we need a new GM and President. I wonder what it would take to make that happen

I mean it's the fifth round so can't rip the pick too hard, but did we really need another unathletic linebacker?

You forgot to add that Martin played in the Big 10 like Hawk and Ryan.

Can never have enough of those athletic Big 10 linebackers patrolling the middle of the Packers defense.

I watched 3 or 4 MN games last season and I thought he was a hell of a player.

Agree. Pre-knee surgery there's no way he's a 4.8 Lb. He could close and cover from what I saw esp his Junior season.

If his knee is healed like he says it is - he could be a nice player.

...or patrolling the bench.

Could be a steal for Pack.

I'll be more than happy to admit I'm wrong if this guy is even just a good special teams player.

Out of the league in 2-3 years.

Pretty good debut for a kid who still has rust to shake off:

First down

Rookie inside linebacker Kamal Martin’s NFL debut looked much like his play in training camp before he injured his knee. The fifth-round draft pick was on his way to winning a starting job because of his physical play against the run until he sustained a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery later in camp. Sunday was his first time on the game-day roster, and he ended up seeing a fair share of playing time, initially as the second inside linebacker in the Packers’ base defense (alongside Krys Barnes) and then sharing time with Ty Summers as the No. 1 inside linebacker after Barnes left the game one play into the second half because of a shoulder injury. In camp, Martin seemed to stuff a run or two at the line of scrimmage every day, and that’s the kind of play he made in the fourth quarter Sunday when he shot a gap and stood up running back David Johnson for a one-yard gain on a second-and-6. He also joined Kingsley Keke on a goal-line stop of Johnson for a one-yard loss early in the third quarter and tackled Johnson for a one-yard gain on a reception later in the quarter. Martin, who finished with six tackles, still has to work his way into game shape and likely is behind in knowing the defense after all the practice and game snaps he missed. But his debut suggests he’ll get on the field more in the coming weeks.

Good point.   I’ll add that the Martinez effect contributes to the optimism as well.

After years of watching AJ Hawk and then Ryan, we were all pumped about the speed and reaction time of Blake Martinez for a couple of games.

He did look great. I'm curbing my enthusiasm by reminding myself he was tackling 2020 David Johnson and not 2016 David Johnson.

Fair. It was nice to see that he quickly recognized the play, attacked the hole, and did make the tackle.

Here’s to hoping this guy can be the next Desmond Bishop.  Bishop wasn’t perfect, but he was a thumper and had a knack for timing blitzes that was rare.  To this day, I don’t think the Pack has found anyone at his level or above.

I'd settle for the next Brad Jones

If Barnes and Martin continue to improve, Gutey may be able to hang his hat on getting two starting quality ILB with very little draft capital. Makes up for Oren Burks and Vince Biegel.

2020 David Johnson or not, Burks couldn't tackle 2035 David Johnson

Not true! He would tackle him - then sit out the next two games with a shoulder injury.
