Packers TE Josiah Deguara 'looks fantastic' in return to practice

“Deguara looks fantastic,” LaFleur said Thursday. “Looks like he picked up right where he left off last season. It’s really good to see him out there.”

Don’t be surprised if Deguara, a natural H-back candidate, plays a meaningful role for the Packers in 2021. The team thinks he can be an asset inline at tight end, in the slot and in the backfield, providing positional versatility and pre-snap deception.

“He’s such a savvy, smart football player. There are so many things he does that are tough to coach,” LaFleur said.

Literally written on an 8th grade essay assignment level. I don’t have time for stupid shit like that and I’m retired. Who has time to find that crap?

While that maybe wasn't Furman Bisher-worthy, I didn't think it was that bad.
What pisses me off is it's not me getting paid by some media company to share my opinions that doesn't seemingly require a lot of effort to produce!

Drafted in April 2020, tears ACL in Oct '20. Just now entering his 3rd NFL season.

Many were quite excited with what he showed during his limited rookie year. I'm interested to see if he builds on his '21 season.

I will be a Deguara fan when he shows a higher level of consistency and playmaking... so far, it seems to be more hype than performance.

Yeah it feels a bit like he's the Oren Burks of the offense. Another guy who was rated as a 6th round talent that was drafted way too high.

The dropoff in quality from the top 2 TEs to the #3 and #4 TEs is massive.  And frankly our top 2 TEs are probably only average at best.  Definitely wish they could have gotten more help here at some point.

TE Snap Counts:

Week 1: Lewis 23, Tonyan 22,  Davis 15, Degaura 15

Week 2: Lewis 31, Tonyan 27,  Davis 21, Degaura 15

Week 3 snap counts: Tonyan 36 (of 62), Lewis 22, Davis 19, Degaura 9.

On the season, Degaura has 2 catches for 28 yards (Davis has 3 for 29).

Wonder if MLF views Davis as the superior blocker (or player) of the two, if he is just losing faith in Degaura, or if the role he originally envisioned Degaura fulfilling has just not come to fruition?
