Bakh is an ass kicker, I expect him to be ready opening day.

Its certainly possible, but I question the strategy.

We're going to a 17 game season ( NFLFU) and need Bakh in October thru February. I'd grab a developmental OT in the draft, add a vet like Veldheer or J. Peters at OT and take the pressure off Bakh. Then you don't have to juggle and shift guys around, let them settle into their roles and cover LT with an outsider for TC and September.

September = preseason; let Bakh heal and shorten his post- ACL season.

It's been crazy how quickly some guys have come back recently. That said, I expect he will be healed and ready, but yeah I'm not sure GB will take the chance that he's not 100%. Probably PUP list for 6 weeks and make due with Turner or another vet. I've been expecting we grab our future RT in R1 this year, I see some guys looking realistic for our area that could probably jump in Day 1 at RT.

One thing is for sure: they need to re-sign Marcades Lewis to help the Tackles!

Things I've read:

Linsley is super cerebral and sympatico with the savant at QB, he was playing 3 dimensional chess and will be an absolute godsend for Herbert.  Linsley was better than Jenkins at getting after the LBs on the 2nd level, but Jenkins was more powerful in rooting out he big ass DTs. They each bring something to the table.
Like RBs, Centers are "easier" to find, but its hard to find one as good as Linsley.
The question is around how much of a dropoff is there and how does that hurt your offense ?

I don't think they'll slot Jenkins at Center, because then you can't move him around as much. Lucas Patrick is a mean & nasty guy, but he struggled in pass pro at OG in part because he can't move laterally as well as you'd like. But at Center- he doesn't have to move laterally as much - he's protected on both sides.

One of the things some teams did to GB OL ( especially when Bakh was out) - was to line up wide 9 rushers to spread the OL out - and that allowed them to attack the lesser athletes on IOL, without the OTs being close by to help out.

Cat n Mouse continues

Such a pleasure to read a post with this level of detail rather than the usual vague crap about how, I am super brilliant because I watched such and such a player and he is not that good. Well, why the fuck isn't he that good? Spell it out for us lesser brained people.

Thanks again Satan, for sticking around. This is why I continue to frequent this board.

" Linsley was better than Jenkins at getting after the LBs on the 2nd level,"

I disagree.   Jenkins, even as a rookie, had impeccable timing coming off the combo blocks to pick up the LB.   I realize I have a raging hard on for the man as I truly believe he is HOF player if he stays healthy.

I think Tretter was better than Linsley during their tenures in GB.    Talk about cerebral, that guy came from, and is one himself, a family of Ivy League grads.

I also preferred Tretter.

I seem to recall the Tretter/Linsley comparison being one (Tretter?) was better at pass pro, the other was better at run blocking. I always thought Tretter was the better athlete, but Linsley really grew into his role well after he got extended.

Like others, I hate to see him go, but I'm not freaked out about another guy filling his spot. Everyone that had a shot when Linsley got injured was solid.
