It's not petty, it's business.  If I'm hired to build a website and I take $500 up front and then proceed to change my mind after doing an hour of work,  the client would want the money back.

Business also involves PR. This may be a PR nightmare for the Packers. Might have to let it go.

Good point.

He's probably paid $50K in taxes on it already. And spent a good portion of the rest. So if he's like most recent college grads he has little money. The Packers could sue but that wouldn't likely pay off even monetarily. Then factoring in the PR hit.

The Packers have cut draftees and eaten a signing bonus before. It's best just to write it off.

Cross my fingers... but I wouldn't expect anything out of him this year except spot duty. Away for a year, the emotional issues, the difficulty of being an NFL rookie, that's a lot for anyone to work through. If he just shows promise for next year and can come in for a series or two to give a guy a rest, that would be enough for now. Of course, given our OL, he could be better than the right side right now...

If you’re an offensive lineman and the Packers draft you, history says you’re pretty much a lock to make the roster, regardless of the round.

Hes missed a year, but I really don’t know if that will matter.  He’s effectively a rookie with an extended amount of time to heal any nagging injuries from his college career.  If his head is right, he should be fine.

Let's face it, the fact that he's back is great and everyone is rooting for him. But after what he's been through, and probably continues to go through, he's got a long way to go to even make the roster. The Packers essentially just signed a guy to be part of the starting five which is pretty set on paper. At this point it's all about adding a few depth pieces and finding Bulaga's eventual replacement.

So GM says that he is in good shape and looks like the player they drafted.  I will agree with you some because the contact part might take some getting use to again.  And we will see where he is with footwork.  But as far as all we need is depth goes, we need more than depth and Bulaga's replacement.  Lane Taylor can't stay healthy and neither can the current depth.  I think Taylor should have to earn his way onto the OL this year.  I don't care if it is Madison or another draft pick that provides the competition.  We also need someone who can step in at center if Linsley gets injured.  So maybe a true multi positional guy.  Turner is one piece.  But we need more.  Maybe Madison is one of those pieces.  But I see more of a remake going on.  Especially since MLFs OL will need to be able to run.  We are on the outside looking in and maybe more of the help we need is already on the roster.  But that is what we are about to find out this week.
