Oh no!
@TomSilverstein: Very sad news. Just heard from two sources that former #Packers GM Ted Thompson died last night. He had just turned 68 on Jan. 17.
RIP to a good man.
Very sorry to hear. I know he was a very private man, but it seemed like he struggled with health issues for years.
RIP to a terrific GM
Wow... RIP! He was a great Packer! Brought another Championship to Titletown!
RIP
Win one for Ted!
That does it....

The Bucs might as well not even show up. They have ZERO chance of winning on Sunday. This ones for Ted....
I just shed a tear for a man I never met
Put the talent in place to win 19 straight games with a Super Bowl title run included in that period. He was a tremendous GM for a long time that took way more crap than he deserved. There still are some very important TT holdovers on this current team.
RIP Ted Thompson. I just wish he could have enjoyed the last few years of his life more than he probably was able to. It was pretty clear by 2016/17 that his health was going downhill.
Thanks Ted!
Sad day.
Great Packer.
Ring of fame? Statue?
He certainly deserves something.
brought the 'title' back to 'titletown' RIP Ted.
Matt LaFleur says he "literally just found that out" about Ted Thompson's passing. He says #Packers are "sitting here with heavy hearts" today: "He's a guy who's held in the highest regard in this building, and I think just throughout the league. He's had a tremendous impact."

Very sad news to hear. A good man, and legacy will live on as one of the greats in Packers history.
Thank you, Ted Thompson.
I hadn't heard about Bud Lea fuuuuuuuck
What an awful week. Don Sutton, Bud Lea, now Ted Thompson. Three men who left their mark on Wisconsin sports history. #RIP

One of my favorite Packers personalities.

Bud Lea too? WTF!
PACKERS ARE GONNA KICK SOME ASS!!!
#ThanksTed
Man. I'm considering this an extension of 2020.
RIP Uncle Tranny Ted.
Damn. Packers legend. The story of how he got the job with Wolf's staff is a great one.
Damn.
He was diagnosed (in '17) with an autonomic disorder that affected his body's nerves. He confirmed the diagnosis in '19. Autonomic disorders affect the nerves that control bodily functions and can manifest as dizziness, digestive disorders, fatigue and blood pressure issues.
Even if the draft and develop mantra was controversial, he still brought in Rodgers, Jones, Jennings, Nelson, Adams, Bakhtiari, Clark, Matthews, King, and Crosby. I think I remember reading something that he was one the voices that convinced Wolf to trade for Favre.
.
Bob Harlan needed to hire a GM. Here was his list :
There was something very old school about Ted but he learned how to navigate the salary cap regime. There's a guy that gave his life to football body and soul.
Dang...R.I.P.

Same here. The man brought our team a Super Bowl win and had the Packers competitive year and year.
Go Pack Go!
Sad news indeed!. A lot of great former Packers have died in the last year. RIP Ted. You did what you did better than anyone.

Seriously? As someone else said I am considering 2021 and extension of last year. Screw you 2020/2021.
RIP TED, and only 68........
Sorry to hear about the passing of Ted Thompson. He gave me my first opportunity to scout in the league after getting to know him during my time with the @packers. The team building and evaluation lessons learned from him and #GoPackGo have served me well. RIP, Ted 💛💚

My favorite Ted Thompson story. He wasn't Ron Wolf in the press box, but his quiet steady & ways served GB well.

He agreed to a rare in-season interview before the 2016 NFC title game. He was funny, but it was also evident his health was in decline.https://t.co/J7UREoDaDB
Every general manager will be criticized ...today is not that day
But the good he did for the team and franchise far outweighs any busts. Great man, sad day
That's what you have to add to this thread?
Stay on your yaht.
Once upon a time circa 2006 I was a free agent and one team took a shot on me orchestrated by Ted Thompson.. RIP TT thanks for bringing in this washed up player giving me a chance to play in the #greenandgold 🙏🏿 @packers #sbxlvchamps
