Move the pile
Danny Davis with a great effort! Coan with some nice passing. TD Bucky!

That was great
Maybe the defense should play for the screen.
What is with that screen pass?? It works EVERY DAMN time.
good win Bucky !!!!! and more important 6th win
17 strait years bowl eligible
Itβs amazing to me how the Badgers can find RB after RB but canβt find a competent QB? **** Hornibrook
It's possible that competent QBs don't want to go to Wisconsin where they expect they'd be reduced to handing the ball off to those RBs 40 times a game.
Thatβs bullshit
The Badgers have been a a top 15-20 program the last 25 years
The running game and pro style offense scheme should make you want to go there

They have had plenty of competent guys....competent gets you to where they have been for the last quarter century. Consistently in the top 20 and in the hunt for the conference championship and a New Years Bowl. They need a star and they are hard to get.
Horni was competent, was....he has seemed to regress.
They have had one decent QB- Russell Wilson (one year) and perhaps Bevell (one year). Stocco and Donovan and Sorgi and Tolzien were OK but nothing special

The thing is, they would if they could. Bucky has never been afraid to open it up when they had competency at the position.

And 'nothing special' would have been fine this yearβ¦
NOTE: I would remove Stocco from that list.
Graham Mertz is a 4 star recruit (#4 pro style an nationally), more athletic, and has an above average arm. Thereβs help on the way.
But the biggest issue to me is the deterioration of the defense. The LBs have been painfully average, the DL depth (certainly a concern coming in) has not held up, and a young secondary has been exposed. That unit needs a big influx of talent in the front 7 and hopefully this experience will get the returning players to the next level. Lost season...
I think the LBs are playing pretty good, especially when Van Ginkle is healthy. DL is so thin, it's made it much harder for the linebackers to make plays. Take Olive out, and that line is super thin. All that impacts the pass rush and the young DB's look, well, young. Losing Van Ginkle, Edwards and Connely will be huge (not to mention losing Sagapolu). The only real let down from the LBs from my perspective is that Orr has not progressed, I thought he was going to be a huge difference maker.

I agree. I think Chryst is going to slowly open up the passing game more I think he just needs to get his guy at QB. I think that guy will be Mertz assuming he pans out. One thing that may get tougher and tougher to find is the pro style QB. Many high schools like college are now playing the read option/spread offenses.
The defense was historically good the last 2-3 years. Like National Championship we can beat Alabama good. The problem is the offense shit the bed at certain times and our QB play at best is above average which against great competition means average.
On paper Mertz might be the best theyβve had in a while. But itβs got to translate. Iβve got my fingers crossed. Hornibrook sucks and not at all impressed by Coan.

Don't forget to add Stave to that nothing special list.
