In regard to Dillon. You know how it goes, it's one thing to be able to carry the ball successfully, but it's all the other things that earn playing time(and a second contract) .... pass protection, route running, ball security, hands, knowledge of the offense, playmaking, etc....which Jones and Williams have which is what makes them so valuable.

re-watching the ass-kicking earlier this season, one problem we had was the running plays took too long to develop; on a few, linsley could not get to the second level fast enough, their lb's are too fast.  i am just positive they will have an answer to get this done, this happened over and over, the lineman who had blocks on the lb's always missed, david and white made the tackles  - those dudes are REAL fast.

I'm wondering if Dillon can do the same.  He is a natural.  One play where he lined up outside he got the fuck up field in a hurry.

The hard cut he made to the outside, it was hard to believe he is a 250 pound back.

You'd think some jet sweep action or bootleg plays might be a good idea. It's not so much that you want to make a living running wide because those LBs are going to chase things down. It's more that you want to give them some reason to stay home a split second longer before selling out to stop the run to the other side.

They are also not very big. Unfortunately, their dline protects the so well. We are going to need to change that. Get some bodies on them.

and I would be playing the devin white soundclip after the game, how we are soft, didn't want to play physical, we are too much for them - we punched them in the mouth and they curled up...blah blah, this should be on repeat in the 1265 sound system all week.

Thanks for trying. Let’s see what happens this go around. Snow and in the mid 20’s

Devin White is a phenomenal player.  He runs like a safety or corner but plays LB and is very disruptive.

People can say all they want about the week 6 blowout loss to Tampa, but there’s a world of difference this time around.

The obvious difference is this game is in Green Bay.  The first time around it was hot and humid.   I don’t think GB was ready for it and they looked low on energy.

No Kevin King meant a lot of Josh Jackson and that was bad.   There were several penalties against the Packers and none against TB.  2 turnovers v 0.   5 sacks allowed v 0.   The Packers only had 201 yards.

I like their chances this time around.  The OL and DL are playing a lot better.  Just about everyone is healthy.   Rodgers will have a chip on his shoulder.

It's coming.

Hmmm. This dude’s a load when healthy

@NFLSTROUD: #Bucs are designating DT Vita Vea for return from injured reserve. He will begin practicing Wednesday and could be activated for Sunday's NFC title game. Vea fractured his ankle against the Bears in Oct.

their d totally got in ar's head, esp our bff suh.  just can't let that happen.  ar looked alot like brees last night...anyways, alot of guys had a rough game, 89 (surprised by this actually), 71 (went in for 69), 87, AR was really just staring down 17, he can't do that, he has to look off and hit 17 like he does now. lots of dropped balls...just all around real ugly game.  this has to be juice for payback...jesus even 42 was in and promptly got burned on gronk's td...then 24 on gronk, burned over and over, eish ugly. not sure if snacks fits in but it is time, jones is a hell of a back with fournette, 37 big PI flag, man...gb are going to def earn the sb trip if they beat tb, which i think they will btw...its destiny. plus all the tape is there already...just fix it.

Find a way to make them pay once or twice just to put that split second of doubt in their heads. They did it brilliantly on the goal line with Ramsey on Saturday. It wasn't as much the mental confusion, but the pre-snap work Jalen had to do was just enough to gain that sliver of advantage. I also think it ate at Ramsey the rest of the game too. I haven't listened to any postgame, but if that was prepped during the week, no reason they can't find those opportunities vs TB as well.

I’m counting on the frozen tundra slowing them down

If we’re daydreaming, why daydream a 2 point win?

Because the Bucs scored late and couldn't recover the onside kick. The Packers  were up 31-21 before the Bucs TD and 2 Point conversion, with less than a minute to go. No worries! Aaron was able to take a knee and run out the clock on the Brady Bunch. Packers are NFC Champions! GO PACK, GO!

Packers need to figure out a way to run the ball. If that happens everything else will fall in place.

Well no ore outside toss plays would be a good start.   Those LBs are way too fast for that shit and it failed miserably last time.

And with fresh legs.  OL's job would be tougher.

I haven't seen anything on Dillon's status yet.  He would be a good weapon in snowy 20's weather.

Why would they go for 2 when the PAT and a FG ties the game?

And if they were smart they would kick the FG first to have more time to get the TD.

At least make your hypothetical have a scintilla of plausibility.

@TomSilverstein: Coach Matt LaFleur said he is still waiting to see whether RB AJ Dillon (thigh) will be ready for practice Wednesday. He said he's hopeful he'll be able to go this week but he will be careful with him.

@Goalline posted:

Dillon and Jones together is a nightmare for defensive coordinators. Jones runs routes and catches like a WR.

He will also drag a LB or safety out of the box with him when he goes wide then you suddenly have 5 OL blocking 5 defenders in the middle with Dillon running behind them. I like those odds.

@Packdog posted:

I meant me. Just remember defending Williams during game threads ... plenty of  "why are they giving Williams so many carries" , "we need a better #2 back" "Williams is too slow",

Maybe some of that was true, but most importantly, he and the coaches have made himself better. He's become a solid back and is tough as nails.

He’s a solid but unspectacular RB. Better as a blocker than the rest of the RB roster, has solid moments in the run game. Jones as a runner is vastly superior, and Dillon has more talent (and catching up quickly on the rest). He is what he is- a totally replaceable RB. I don’t think that’s disparaging at all.

But he does have one intangible-  he happens to be a very popular player in the locker room. That has value, too.

I would add that he has another intangible.  He is a very physical runner and that has an effect on a defense in the fourth quarter.  Probably gooses his blockers too to see him fighting for every yard late in a game.  I'm just dying to see Dillon catch a ball on a wheel route at full steam.  But I'm not sure how much we'll see of him after the fumble and injury.

Play that shit at the Hutson Center on loop all week... “Shouldn't be on the field with us”?

This a different Packer team than in week 6.

1. Rashan Gary.  The guy is way more confident and active now than he was then.

2. Snacks.  We have run stuffer now that we didn't have then.  It seems Snacks had no tackles vs. Rams, not sure how many plays he actually was in on.

3. Rodgers has been spreading the ball around much more.  He used 6 different receivers Sunday. Yes, Adams still had 9 but MVS, Tonyan and Lizzard each had 4 receptions.

4.  3 headed monster at RB. Hopefully Dillon can go. Keeping fresh legs out there will be key.

5. Crosby.  Kicking in the cold and maybe wind won't bother him. Succop was only 8 -11 over 40 yards and missed 7 PATs.   Mason is better than that.

This team is really good.

Yup.

Week 6 at TAM was game number 5, in year 2, of the LaFleur offense. Rodgers is way more comfortable at this point than he was in week 6.

TAM had 41 yards of offense and a 14-10 lead after 2 very uncharacteristic INTs from A-A-ron.

Take care of the ball and they win by 10 minimum.
