More from a coaching website about type of defense (cover 5) Bucs are playing more of; press man and 2 deep zone

– How to attack it

  1. Back routes on the linebackers
  2. create mismatches with the TE running option (“read”) routes
  3. stay shallow with routes, catch the ball short and run long
  4. crossing routes (“mesh”) with the wide receivers
  5. TE in the alley or fades to the wide receivers
  6. running plays
  7. use motion

Sounds exactly like the offense we run.

I hope to hell MLF doesn't run those toss plays like he did in our first meeting.  I think that helped create the negative energy the offense had in that game.   Kind of like "wow, these guys are fast and physical."

Punch them in the face with runs between the tackles.  That's where we excel and it mitigates their speed.   Run the rubs and get Jones and Tonyan on option routes.   Periodically look for the fade to Adams.

I think there is one thing we can agree on is that MLF learns from his mistakes and I would be shocked if they ran many plays they ran against them last time.

I would be totally shocked if the Packers do not come out physical with the intent of taking it to the Bucs right away.  I think they have good leadership on this team and I bet they will show up starting today with a purpose.

Field conditions favor the Packers in addition to the weather forecast. GB players know that field and know the spots where it's slippery and the kind of cleats to put on, etc. (see the Titans who couldn't figure it out for nearly an entire half)

Little stuff like that can make a big difference in games like this.

Forking this into this thread:

Well fellow Packers fans, it has come down to this, Tom Brady has opened a path and drove the Buccaneers straight to the NFC Championship. But wait, the Packers also have a legendary QB, his name is Aaron Rodgers, and he too has opened the path to drive the Packers once again to another NFC Championship. The weather outside will be frigid, but delightful to hometown Packers fans. We all remember the curse about the Buccaneers cant win games in below freezing temps, although the did beat the Eagles in Philadelphia in the freezing cold to go to the Super Bowl. But that was a different era, and a different time. All I will say is tom brady and the Buccaneers come to Green Bay, and it all ends here for tampa. The Bucc's season stops here. PACKERS move onto the Super Bowl.  GO PACKERS  !!!!

Back in early December 2020, it was the 35th anniversary of the “Snow Bowl” game between the Pack and Tampa in 1985.  It was a shutout by the Pack and future Hall of Fame QB Steve Young looked like he had never played football in his life.

I wouldn’t mind this game going the same way that one did.  😀 The final 21-0 score didn’t justify just how badly Green Bay kicked their ass that day.

Ask yourself.....how many more of these matchups (NFC CG) will we see at Lambeau field in your lifetime?

Enjoy it!

So true Boris.  I was born in ‘69 and this will only be the 3rd NFC Championship game at Lambeau in my 51 year old lifetime.  For as much success as the Pack has had since ‘92 it’s surprising how few times this has happened, but have to take advantage when you do have the opportunity.

Boris, you got that right and I for sure will enjoy every second of it.

I was born in 1966 so I have no memory of the Lombardi years so this will be only this will be only the 3rd time in my lifetime I get to watch this game at Lambeau.  As you said fightphoe93 it is crazy that the Packers have been so good since 1992 and this is only the third time I will get to see it.

I have seen a couple of Rodgers interviews and you can hear and see just how special it is for him.  I saw an interview he did with Pat McAfee and AJ Hawk and he almost got emotional about it when they asked him.  I guarantee that is coming up in the locker room this week.

Damn I am so ready and its only Wednesday!

It’s too bad they aren’t playing the game today.  A bit breezy and single digits in NE Wisconsin.   I didn’t run outside this morning for like the first time in a month.

Forecast for Sunday looks downright balmy for mid January.   Mid 20s, chance of  snow, winds out of the W SW 5-7 mph.

It’ll seem colder for the warm blooded Tampa Bucs but honestly I was hoping for single digits.   It gets below 10 (not including wind chill) and that’s when things start freezing up pretty good.

The last couple of NFC title games were damn cold.  That 2007/2008 game against the NYG was below zero air temp.   The game against Carolina in 1996/1997 was also chilly like single digits.

Agreed that mid 20s might not affect those guys as much as something like 10 degrees would.

The slower track might help the Pack a bit as Tampa’s team speed is at least slightly limited at Lambeau.  That little bit of slowing a pass rush can really help Rodgers and typically he takes advantage of it at Lambeau.

Started off 1094 in the queue. Much further back than last week.

Fuck! I clicked on some seats, got some weird error and got some stupid captcha thing and now I'm back in the queue with 2000+ ahead of me. I think I got Zooked.

I don't think so.  The social distancing issue may be workable for people in their seats.  But things would get pretty densely packed in any aisles (seats, corridors, concourses, restrooms, etc.) at peak times (end of quarter, halftime, pre and post game ingress and egress).

I got into my account at 6:45 AM today and when the queue opened, I was still 2000+ in the order.  Made it up to 1089 before it stopped moving...then it moved fast only to get the sold out message.

That queue must be absolute random placement.  Damn this virus.

PH and Edge - what time did you guys log on to the Ticketmaster site?

Yeah, it is totally random. Read that somewhere on their site. You can be there 10 minutes or 30 minutes early, doesn't matter. Once the queue starts, everyone gets a random spot in line.

I logged in at 9:30 and clicked the link around 9:40. Refreshed at around 9:50 and then I was in the waiting room. 1094 at the start. It's all luck.

I'd have rather been 2000+ from the start and not get tickets. To get up to your turn after waiting 5 minutes or so, select your tickets then get some kind of weird error then bumped to the end of the line is a little bit soul crushing.

Yep. The way they had things spread out you had people within 8-10 feet of you. There is no way they could have 4x as many people and have any kind of social distancing. That's just stupid talk.

I stayed in my seat the whole game but after the game ended the concourse was a free for all despite all the signs they had up and people trying to maintain some kind of order. Got the fuck right out of dodge and back to the car.

My niece's husband did go to the Pro Shop early 3rd quarter (he missed the worst part of the game) and he said there was only like 10 people in there. Concourse was pretty open going there and back too.

I have a few concerns. What is being undersold is the task for our offense is beating two great linebackers. I believe that is what caused Rodgers confusion the last time around. The next problem that our offense faces is not a great d-line like like the Rams, It’s the linebackers who cover and recover like DB’s. They fly around like like DB’s to cover the pass and stop the run like d-linemen. Add to that the looks that they present can confuse the assessment of the defense before the snap. Sure, we beat the Rams top rated defense but this is the kind of defense that is effective against some of the best play calling. The task our defense faces is not one, not two, not three but perhaps four legitimate pass catchers. We have, maybe, two stellar DB’s. Everyone else is average. I have no doubt that we can do well but will it be good enough?

As a pretty superstitious fan, I was really hoping you'd be there again!
