Wasn't responding to you specifically. Though I probably did merge the words/thoughts when I said "off". Boris used that term, as well as accuracy, in the post of his you quoted. And you said accuracy.

So get off my back.

Goalline is too easily triggered by perceived criticism?

3 more completions and he's at 72% for the game.

Was he really off? Such a high bar he has set  -  aka, we are spoiled.

Yes....Off Just a little bit, not much. Are we spoiled with the high bar? Absolutely.

Strive for perfection.

We aren't good in zone coverage. been a problem for a long time, and with Jaire, no excuse for it.

That's a really good point. For some reason he hasn't played his best in NFCC games. Not even in 2010.

But isn't he coming off a broken ankle injury?  Fat Samoan may have some issue pushing off.  That is some serious beef on a healing fracture.

Well, I am not licking Vita Vea's asshole, that's for sure.

Rodgers hasn't been terrible. For two of those games (2010 and 2014) he was playing incredibly good defenses. In 2016, Capers's defense was steamrolled and in 2019, Pettine's defense was steamrolled. The Packers defenses gave up 24 and 27 points in the first half. The offenses were overwhelmed too, but they'd have likely had to put 45 points up to have a chance.

Rodgers actually played pretty well in the 2016 title game in Atlanta. Packers are behind 7-0 when they get the ball for the first time and they drive down and Crosby misses a 41 yard FG (after not missing a FG for about 7 years in the playoffs). Falcons kick a FG on their next possession to go up 10-0. The Packers are driving until Ripkowski fumbles at the Atlanta 11. The Falcons got down and score to go up 17-0. The next possession Rodgers gets sacked on 2nd down to set up a 3rd and 21 and he throws a "good" interception on 3rd down. "Good" meaning it was 3rd and 21 and the interception occurs 55 yards past the LOS - better than a punt in that situation. The Falcons score another TD and it's 24-0 and the game is over. Rodgers really didn't make any mistakes in the first half and puts up at least 10 point without the missed FG and fumble, but the defense gave up 302 yards. Even with the defense imploding 24-10 is a lot different than 24-0.

In 2010, he was facing a Bears defense with 3 future likely HOFers in Urlacher, Briggs, and Peppers, not to mention Peanut Tillman at DB. In Chicago in January. That's not optimal for anyone, especially when your best RB is Starks. Starks played well, but it's not like having a threat like Aaron Jones. That Bears defense was loaded.

In 2014, he was dinged up but facing a Seahawks defense with 3 HOF level guys (Wagner, Sherman, and Earl Thomas) plus Chancellor with Avril and Bennett providing pass rush. Green Bay did have Eddie Lacy, but that Seahawks defense is probably top 10 all-time.

More from a coaching website about type of defense (cover 5) Bucs are playing more of; press man and 2 deep zone

Strengths

  1. Double or bracket two receivers
  2. four man rush
  3. every potential receiver is accounted for (covered)
  4. can bump because each defender has help over the top
  5. excellent versus zone type routes or screens

Weaknesses

  1. Poor run support
  2. mismatch with the backs versus linebackers
  3. hard to disguise versus motion
  4. three (3) deep zones are not covered
  5. one on one underneath
  6. crossing routes
  7. “bunch” and “snug” type sets

– How to attack it

  1. Back routes on the linebackers
  2. create mismatches with the TE running option (“read”) routes
  3. stay shallow with routes, catch the ball short and run long
  4. crossing routes (“mesh”) with the wide receivers
  5. TE in the alley or fades to the wide receivers
  6. running plays
  7. use motion

In the 2016 NFC CG -- The Packers were down to their 6th string DB's vs. the #1 offense in Atlanta. They had zero shot of beating Atlanta.

FYI....Atlanta blew a 25 point lead in that Super Bowl.

AR actually played well on the 1st drive v CHI in '10. But he took a shot on his 1 yard TD run and didn't seem the same to me after that. AR was 4 of 4 for 76 yards, 0 INTs on the opening drive that ended with his TD run. After that he went 13 of 26 for 168 and 2 INTs.

Come to think of it, AR took a shot in the EZ of the TAM game week 6 when they went up 10-0. We all know how AR and the offense performed after that.

Scoring 10 pts on their 1st two drives - AR was 8 of 12 for 107 yards, 0 INTs. After that, 8 of 23, 53 yards, and the 2 INTs (resulting in 14 TAM pts).

Keep AR clean and he'll take care of the ball.

I remember that play from the Bears game too as being significant.... maybe he should dial back the running part, especially against the Bucs cheap shot artists.

that's the part that worries me here, they are dirty sob's and will have no problem getting a personal foul if they can rile someone up...that's the edge they think they have...we have to be ready to stick to the plan, ignore all the crap and play on our terms.

First game was a fluke; an anomaly.

At least now they know what to work on.

The NFLN talked about Wirfs this week too.  I'm not familiar with NO's D any more than knowing they're supposedly really good.  But I'm guessing they don't have 3 OLB's and a DT that can get to the QB.  Gary could be huge in this game.

Statistically the TB game was a fluke but the cause of it was not as much.  Everyone knows that D is what it is.  They've had inconsistencies in the regular season but so has GB (second half lulls anyone?).  Both teams are peaking right now so I think you can look at their performances going into the playoffs, and in the playoffs.  It should be a tight hard fought game.

I think the real key is that MLF already faced TB this season.  It didn't look like he handled them well the first time but I'll bet he's learned from that and should have another really good game plan Sunday.

Rodgers hasn't been terrible.

Not at all terrible. But by his usual standards, far below average. And plenty of other things factored in, injuries to key players, shitty defense, etc.

But the bottom line is I doubt he was happy with his play in any of those games aside from the Chicago game. Any way you win a trip to the SB is a good game! I think we will see his best NFCC game this Sunday - by a far margin.

That's the thing though. He's been great against good teams so many times in his career. Hell, he just carved up the supposed best defense in the league Saturday. He's had some epically great divisional round games. You don't usually see scrub teams in that round.

Again, it's not all on him. He was saddled with a stale offensive system, sometimes he was down to scraps at receiver and the defense had been consistently bad.

I'm just looking forward to see what he does Sunday with HFA and almost all the tools at his disposal.

Went back and looked at the INT in first game that turned it around. It really underscores the importance of staying in favorable down / distance...and if not, having AR at times having to be content to punt. AR threw 2 incomplete passes to make it 3rd and 10. He had Sheppard breaking wide open on a very shallow cross, but it is doubtful that he would have made the first down, so he decides to force to the outside, even though the CB had played off coverage and was in perfect position on Adams, to try to get the first down.
