The Packers are 11.6 million under the cap.
Next yeays team must spend 89% of the cap.
The cap is no longer a use it or loss it deal.
The unused cap space from one year rolls over to the next.
I think the way teams play with cap space will change, a bunch of interesting new games can be played with cap space rolling over each year.

I think the 89% does not include the roll over amount. But I am not sure, there is a lot of learning for evertone about how the new CBA works.
Heck as far as I know Grave Digger maybe right about saving uo cap space.

If Jennings gets a long term deal before the end on the season that $11.6 million will be quickly used up as a signing bonus. It is smart to have cap space now if you plan to resign players who will be free agents at the end of the season.
I just don't see how they can afford him..

The only big money coming off the books next year is Pickett.. That, and you could ask Wood to restructure for some up front coin.. His bonus is played out but has a 10 Mil salary.

So you have draft picks to sign and need to resign Raji, CM3 and Jennings.. PLUS, you don't want to mess around with #12.. Get that done soon before it becomes an issue and the price just continues to climb.
I believe the big cap hit on Hawk happens this year if they cut him. Next year they can send him packing. At the minimum, unless he's the second coming of Urlacher they'll be redoing that deal after this season.
My understanding is the spending floor doesn't kick in until next year. The cap rollover amount is not subject to the spending floor based on the last explanation I could find.

I think Chuck will need to renegotiate his salary next year - it's way too high. Same with Hawk if DJ Smith proves to be starter material and Bishop comes back strong. With Lattimore and Manning waiting in the wings, Hawk isn't a sure thing.

TT will probably take a wait and see approach with Raji. Unfortunately, there is no one waiting in the wings as Raji's replacement. I don't think Rodgers contract gets addressed until next year. CM3 and Jennings should be the priority.
The other thing to remember with jennings is his concussion this camp. He was out a little longer than most and i think it probably scared him a bit. Point being, Jennings is a family first guy and that concussion probably just strengthened his resolve to get as much coin as he can..

No home to discount coming GBP's way.
Jennings is making $7.347M this season.

How much of a raise does he deserve next year?

Driver, whose contract also expires at the end of the season, is on the hook this year for $2.3M.

Maybe TT, like Mr. Obama has said, will "spread the wealth around."

My bold prediction: Packers keep Jennings.

But you forget that Corporations are people too. The GBP Corp is a job creator, if they keep that money now, it will eventually trickle down in the form of new jobs for players fresh out of school.
