J Thomas makes Finley look all-world at blocking.  It was that bad.   And that may not seem like a huge problem but being such an awful blocker negates the "match up" problems that TE's can bring.  Once teams caught on to his awful blocking, they could put a DB on him b/c they knew he was out there to catch passes, not block.  Ever.  And even if he was blocking, a competent DB could play him to a stalemate (at worst).  So unlike Gronk, where if a DB lines up on him Brady switches to run, or if an LB lines up on him they pass, J Thomas is just a big WR.  For $3-4m a year, that works.  But it'll take $6-7m a year to sign him.

Agree Boris, Cameron is much more of a complete TE which is what creates those match-up nightmares for defenses.  His issue is health though; I think he's had 3 concussion in the last 12 months.  Of course, seeing as how Roethlisberger, Wilson, and Edelman were able to avoid detection on their OBVIOUS concussions in the playoffs, perhaps concussion safety is no longer an NFL priority.

Seattle D has more than its share of mouthy narcissists, but doesn't have a rep as cheap shot artists (the end of the Super Bowl meltdown notwithstanding) unless I missed something somewhere. Whereas Suh doesn't flap his gums but tries to injure the opponent. A bit different.

I can see why Suh would want to go there, given Carroll's rep for running a "do your own thing" type of atmosphere. They surely can't come up with the money, though.

Al is right on and you know it.  It's a hole, filled with homeless Asians (they call them chinks in Schofield and no one is offended - Murca) who congregate in parks.  Add that plus Suh there and there's even less reason to think Al is rong.

Of course, me having lived there for several years and really liking it needs to be forgotten.  Al is still right.

How can you live in that dump?  At least PDXPackFan is there to keep it all real.

@JasonLaCanfora: Marshawn Lynch has a new deal in place with the Seahawks according to league sources.

@JasonLaCanfora: Would expect formalization of Lynch deal in coming days. Will include $12M in 1st year, $9M in 2nd year w/SEA aware he may retire after '15.

EDIT:

@JasonLaCanfora: Doug Hendrickson, agent for Marshawn Lynch, says "there is no deal done." I continue to hear SEA has offer on table that will result in deal.

New Orleans folks say a rift grew between team management and Graham last season over his franchising and subsequent salary squabble, which played out on the field. If they want to piss off their shiny new toy in order to pay Wilson, I say go for it. While they're at it, put Graham's locker next to Lynch's so they can talk about life and The Man.

Hell, just push that Wilson contract off to next year.

Then they'll only have to work deals to keep Russell Okung, Brandon Mebane, Bruce Irvin, Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, JR Sweezy, Jeremy Lane, Robert Turbin, and Chris Matthews.

Getting all them signed should not present much of a problem provided Russell Wilson throws 47 INT's and 4 TD's in 2015 and misses 6 games due to a hairline fracture in his right fibula that Dr's are concerned may never fully heal.

But wouldn't Wilson hold out?  He knows he should be getting at least $40m guaranteed this summer, so why would he wait?  So he can take on the injury risk?  Yeah he can get insurance but a policy for $40m will be unbelievably expensive and he's only getting $1.5m this year (before taxes, agent fees, union fees, etc.).

Other risk is price.  You negotiate an extension this year and you get a discount.  The Seahawks have negotiating leverage b/c WIlson hasn't been paid yet.   Essentially the deal is "we pay you now even though we don't have to, but for less than you'd get next year as a free agent".  They wait til next year when he's a free agent and he'll demand $25m a year.  Why wouldn't he?  Then he'll get franchise tagged, which does not work for your star QB and leader of the team.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.  Kaepernick and Dalton both got contracts after their third years and they didn't have half the resume Wilson has.  Again, this isn't Madden '15, players aren't just numbers on a spreadsheet.

Hmmm.

@StatsNBCSports: Amazing how ultimate team guy Russell Wilson is threatening Seattle with baseball while super selfish Kap signed the team-friendliest deal ever.

Well, bidness is bidness.

Seattle's offense would be in the bottom third of the league without Marshawn Lynch. Anyone but the most deluded Seahawks bandwagoner knows this. Seattle would be screwing up in a big way if they give Russell Wilson a ton of guaranteed money, and they appear to know this.
