That was ugly... and some bad defense in the middle didnβt help.
Moose on the loose! 3 run bomb and itβs 5-3!
Come on Braun.. keep the fβn thing in front of you!
Pretty good win!
Cubs also catching their stride, getting hot at the right time. Going to have to play about .650 ball or better to get to the post season...
Time to move Moose to short
Travis Shaw clubbed a pair of homers but San Antonio dropped a close one to Oklahoma City.https://t.co/8BlIKubMEa

We'll need a hopefully revitalized Shaw in September and when Moose is likely gone next year. Maybe next year, take the money you used for Moose and Grandal and sign a top line pitcher? I can dream.....
They arenβt going to get much with this friggin lineup, and Woodruff isnβt sharp. Series split is a little disappointing...
Whoa!!! Belay that! Saladino with the Slam!!! Game on!
Brewers get the clutch hits from Moose and Hiura (Igniter Jr.) and the Brewers pick up a game on the Cubs.
I guess they were waiting for me to buy MLB at bat- as soon as I did, theyβve won 5 of 6.
Should've have done it 3 weeks ago...
Woodruff with a strained oblique and headed to IL.
That could easily take him out several weeks if not a couple of months or until end of season. It just sucks because he was the one guy that has been decent all year and much like Jimmy Nelson in β17 of course he gets hurt when heβs performing at a high level.
You have to believe Milwaukee will go out and get another starter now.
3 series left before the trade deadline. Reds, Cubs, A's. This is going to be very interesting to see what Stearns does to add both starting and relief pitching.
They really should go for it. All-in. Is Mark Antanasio all-in? This will cost some $. His team, his call. Investing as much as he has to date, I don't see letting that go to waste without adding an ace and a closer as any kind of plus. They need a real chance to win it all, and the only way that happens is by adding to both positions, now. Pitching wins Championships.
Looking at their recent series win v. AZ, I do like that this team did not quit. There is something really good going on. Hoping they crank it up.
Lost 3 series in a row to CIN, PIT, SF before bouncing back to take 2 in a row from ATL and now AZ. Dbacks and Braves were both 7-3 heading into each series. Win series, Brewers.
I don't see a path to a playoff run this year, and I'd be looking to be a seller more than a buyer. 2020 is far more likely to net you success than 2019.
The way Moose and Grandal are playing (even Braun) they could make some deals. Iβll be very curious to see what Stearns does over the next couple of weeks.
Cubs have played something on the order of 10 more home games than the Brewers and they suck on the road.
The division is still there for the taking.

I agree, but the Brewers have been in the playoffs 5 times in their 50 year history. When you have a chance, you have to take a swing. There is no guarantee that 2020 is going to be any better. That doesn't mean you trade away Hiura for a #1 starter or anything that drastic, but I don't think they should be sellers.
If you can get to September when the roster expands and we're still in it, CC has already shown he is very good in managing the expanded roster in terms of the pitching staff.
I swear, this team seems cursed sometimes.
Then again, there is Yelich.
I'll amend my statement slightly. I'd want to get through the Cubs series before making any decisions. You go 6-1 through that stretch and maybe a move presents itself. You go 1-6, and maybe someone blows you away with an offer for Grandal or Davies (I'd have to be REALLY blown away to give away Davies, like better than what we gave up for Greinke blown away) or Jeffress...
I'm guessing the smartest position, and the most likely one from Stearns is to stay the course, and unless something crazy happens either in buying or selling, you wait it out and see if someone is made available on waivers in August, and maybe you make a move then.
I just find it hard to believe that any move they make is enough to get past the Dodgers, so would not want to give up a top 10 prospect for a rental regardless of what happens between now and 7/31
I like Davies, but you really like
davies
I'm a sucker for ~3.0 WAR pitchers that are 26.
Be honest.
Youβd marry Bob Gibson and have his child.
I would. Wasn't around for the 57' Braves Championship.
Desperate.
Package Braun and Shaw or Salidino to an AL team for a #2 pitcher with one more year of team control.

Good lord yes.

Salidino with another grand slam. 8 RBIs in his last 4 ABs after 0 in his first 40 ABs.
Bullpen.
Ugh. Suarez with a couple of HR's to kill the Crew.
Some interesting decision making by cc. Pitching to a hot Inglesias with bases open and not walking Suarez with a guy you've never heard of in the on deck circle.
BTW, still cant stand Brian Anderson. STFU
Getting sick of Jeffress blowing leads...
If they don't win this series against the Reds and the next against the Cubs, I'd be in favor of selling Moose and Grandal. Both should fetch a decent return for 1/4 season rentals. If you want em back next year, no rule against signing them as FA again after that.

At least Jeffress won't blow a lead tonight and we'll get to rest Hader again.
Which position player pitches for the Brewers tonight? Down 9-0 in the 5th.
Getting real close to selling time...
Burch Smith is the poster boy for the difference between AAA and the major leagues. He's run up great stats in Triple A the last couple of years and then looks like he's pitching batting practice when he gets to the majors.
In his last 35 plate appearances, Arcia is 3 for 31 with 4 walks. His 3 hits are all singles. He's so good in the field, all he has to do is hit about .250 with some walks and he's worth playing. But he goes through these long stretches where he is completely anemic at the plate.
ammo posted:Package Braun and Shaw or Salidino to an AL team for a #2 pitcher with one more year of team control.
Why would a team trade a #2 for anyone in that group? Salidino has 0 trade value. Youβd be selling low on Shaw, and right now he wouldnβt fetch much. Braun has the most value but is long in the tooth. A team with playoff aspirations might want Braun but wouldnβt give up a #2 for him. And a team with a #2 available probably isnβt in the market for an aging, high salaried player.
So glad we let Derrick Johnson basically leave for no good reason. If itβs the money then wow we got outbid by the Reds. Not the Yankees. Not the Dodgers. The Reds.
The Reds have half the talent the Brewers do but that guy is nails with building confidence and extracting the most out of guys.
Itβs getting close to selling time
I don't get that one either Tschmack. Never did.
In retrospect it was a miscalculation of the importance of the bullpen and pitching coach. I have no other reasonable explanation why the pitching regressed so badly this year.
Never mind being a starter, Chacin doesn't deserve to be on a roster right now.
Chacin goes 3 innings ....Claudio, Guerra, Fat Albers, and now Hader and it's only the 7th !! Man this staff is a wreck. How long will he ride Hader ??
