Fastball Freddy shuts em' down in order in the 9th.

What are the odds that Claudio, Albers, Guerra, and Peralta would all pitch in the same game and none would give up a run? Hader went 2 innings, but with the day off tomorrow almost everyone should be available to go on Friday night.

Likely to stay 2 back of the Cubs before we open the series with them on Friday.

Brewers haven't even announced a pitcher for Game 2 on Saturday night yet. Gonzalez, ?, and Anderson right now.

Nelson, Suter, Knebel, Davies, Gonzales, Burnes, Woodruff, Chacin. All of them injured throughout the last season and a half. Losing Wade Miley for reasons I cannot figure out, and we are looking like a dumpster fire.

The scenery is changing drastically. Wonder if they just call pitchers up and roll the dice this season to see how far they can get, or if they become sellers with a plan to re-load next year. The latter seems to make the most sense given these circumstances. Series v. Cubs looms large, or altogether meaningless. Being realistic, we don't have it. We needed an Ace WITH Woodruff and Chacin healthy.

It would be a good play by Stearns to trade for Edwin Diaz from the Mets, or Filipe Vazquez from PIT.

Since he just worked out a deal for Jordan Lyles w PIT, maybe they can swing something for Vazquez, who will cost a ton of players being under team control for next 4 years, but his salary owed is only $13M. Dodgers in play on both, and it would be cool to land one of them to pair with Hader.

Robbie Ray a good possibility as a starter in trade with DBacks. I'd love for them to get both Shane and Boyd from DET. Even with the Lyles trade, we still need two more arms if we want the WS.

Exactly!

So what do you think it would take? The Mets and Pirates are gonna expect an exceptional return.

It's pretty interesting. I could be happy with them making a big move, or with them not, and then seeing what happens with remainder of this season, and looking to spend $ in next offseason.

There are a ton of scenarios. With the way Games has played, maybe Cain is a chip. Maybe they do talk to Grandal and Moose and tell them they will sign them to deals next season, and we become sellers to put the 2020 team on a better footing... Maybe they seriously sell the farm and Aguilar, Thames, Shaw, Arcia... any one or combination. Who knows? I do think it would take current players and our top farm prospects, but, that would be going all in for this season. I'd prefer to keep Grandal and Moose if they want to be buyers and ring the bell, but, they are rentals, and maybe we become more sellers than buyers. They could fetch a good return in trade with a team that has a more realistic chance.

This is seriously one of the weirdest deadlines I can ever recall. Ever. Thinking of all of the possibilities, and my mind is blown. Seriously. Half of my head blew off.

Thought I saw the Pitcher was Ray...

Wow. Stearns wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted team control... 3 year career Faria had 145 K in 162 IP. Under team control for 4 years. RHP, starter who can hit the bullpen if needed.

Maybe we become both buyers and sellers? Dodgers are very proficient at that, loading up their farm while also acquiring talent. Helps their trading power.

This could become a freaking wild day. I like Thames, a lot. He's a great guy who has been playing well. This move might give Eric more confidence moving forward.

This doesn't appear to help them much now. I guess they can play Shaw at first. Faria doesn't appear to be a high level prospect or have a high ceiling. Not sure what to make of this.

In their 2017 Handbook, Baseball America described him as someone who’s game is β€œfounded upon his deception and downhill angle.” Faria’s fastball sat in the low 90s but could touch as high as 94 on occasion. He supplemented that pitch with what BA termed β€œtwo distinct, below-average breaking pitches,” and a changeup that they described as β€œplus.” At 6’4, he was your classic fringe prospect who gets by with decent stuff, good enough command, and enough size to hide the ball effectively. Overall, Baseball America gave Faria a future value grade of 50: a future average major leaguer.

Except Aguilar was under team control until 2023. Faria is under team control until 2024.
