@AndyHermanNFL:  For those asking, there’s zero incentive to cut or move on from Funchess right now. His guarantees will be paid in 2020 and in 2021 he will be on a non-guaranteed 1-year deal. So GB can see how he looks in 2021 camp & release him with no hit at the end of camp if they wanted to.

6! NE Patriots have opted out as well. Including their Pro Bowl defensive captain in Donta Hightower. Former Packer FB Vitale also opts out of NE for the season. Just wow.

I worked with Vitale's uncle (who's a physician who runs an infectious disease unit at Eli Lilly). He's a little more informed than most.

At this point, even if you think you are at low risk for complications from COVID19 (and talk to the Red Sox ace pitcher about that), as a player you have to be worried about how screwed up the schedule might be. These guys often have to prepare an entire week just to be able to play the next week and their entire physical routines are built around that to keep them healthy. All the potential uncertainty is probably going to increase your chances of injury.  I think a lot of the game are going to look like Thursday Night Football games in terms of injuries and quality of play.

Who needs wide receivers? Bring back the days before of the forward pass! 3 yards and a cloud of dust. The wishbone. 32 skidoo.

They had a play where they used a snowmobile?  Guess it makes sense, frozen tundra and all.  Would love to see old film of that!

You know what's going on, yes?

Pat's are tanking the season so they can draft #1 overall next year.

Just take a WILD guess who that will be.....

yes.  yes we do.

With the first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the New England Cheatriots select.....QB Trevor Lawrence; Clemson.

Just like when the Colts sucked for Luck the 2011 season...we all knew what was happening early on.

@RapSheet: Among those added to the COVID reserve list: #Bears NT John Jenkins, #Packers K Mason Crosby and TE Jace Sternberger, #Vikings OLB Anthony Barr.

@jasonjwilde: So results from the #Packers' first set of veteran COVID-19 tests, taken on Tuesday, apparently have come back. Two players -- K Mason Crosby and TE Jace Sternberger -- either tested positive or have been in close contact with someone who did. Perhaps good news there are only 2.

Found on the internet:

In the last 30 years, 52 teams improved by 6+ wins from one year to the next. Only 18 of those 52 teams improved to record at least 12 wins, like the Packers (from 6-10 to 13-3 last year). Of those 18 teams:

"Zero won the same number or more games the following year

"All lost at least two more games the following year

"13 lost at least four more games the following year

"On average, these 18 teams lost 5.9 more games the following year."

There will be some dropoff, but I think we will be on the lower end of the dropoff for 2 reasons:

1. The only three times Aaron Rodgers has been voted outside the NFL Top 100 were 2011 (won MVP), 2014 (won MVP) and now 2020. That seems silly and I doubt he pays attention to it, but it points to a larger issue of him getting dogged by talking heads this offseason and combined with the Love selection, essentially telling him his career is sunsetting, I think he's going to seriously have something to prove. NO ONE in this league is more dangerous than a pissed off Aaron Rodgers with something to prove. Really won't be shocked to see him come out and be dominant, I don't care who is at receiver.

2. Our defense closed out games really well in 2019. If Kirksey is healthy then we've improved ILB and that will make a difference. Signing someone like Griffen will amplify that. The DBs are coming in more confident and experienced and I think that will be huge. Having a confident defense that can give Rodgers a chance to win is good for at least 10 wins historically.

I'm guessing 11-5/12-4 unless something catastrophic happens.

Of those 18 teams, I would like to know which ones had a NFL HOF QB both in the year of the improvement and the following year let down.

If that NFL HOF QB had something to prove (Love, Madden, and NFL 100 perceived disrespect), that could be a difference maker.  I agree with GD on that.

Tough break for Madison.

@TomSilverstein: #Packers announce they have released OL Cole Madison and FB Jordan Jones. Madison, a 5th-round pick in 2018, sat out his first year for mental health reasons and then missed 2nd half of last season with a torn ACL. No additions to Covid-19 reserve list.

Wilde reports that Madison failed his physical.

True disclosure: that research came from the Bears beat writer

Figures.  I did the research on my own and came up with the following.  There are certain things the Bear guy failed to say.

Yeah, a few more seasons at high level and he should get there. So quick and fundamentally sound. I re-watched a couple of games from 2009 this past week when Allen Barbre was playing right tackle. It was ugly. Makes you appreciate a guy like Bakhtiari for sure.

This is exactly why when hearing a tackle described as "athletic" and/or "raw" you know they are going to fail or at best be mediocre.  If you're really lucky you end up with a really good guard.  If not, you get Spriggs'd.

Get guys that played the position.  I never thought Bak would be this good but apparently his draft stock fell because of injury?  Plus, I don't think those Colorado teams were very good.

One thing that I've always been interested in but has never really been expounded on is Cogbot's supposed technique of "inside/outside" hands that borders on penalty territory.  I remember one article with Bak talking about it but I wonder if the current Oline are still using the technique or if it's more widespread tactic rather than Cogbot's influence.

They usually give the ticket holder the choice. They always make you pay for all possible home playoff games upfront and then you can get a refund or apply to next year if any games are not played
