Notable former Packers cut by other teams

DL Datone Jones (Jacksonville Jaguars)

OL Don Barclay (Denver Broncos)

OMG, Don Barclays is available!  Go Get HIM!!!

Ringo released by the Bengals.
Rollins released by 49ers.

Was just watching MLF's presser and I think there was some foreshadowing of releasing Kizer. He was answering a question about Kizer and he started talking about him in past tense (said "I thought he was a good teammate..") before catching himself and reverting to present tense.

Kizer leaving would almost close the book on the 2015 draft as Kizer (Randall trade), Dexter Williams (6th rounder in Hundley trade), and a 2020 7th round pick (Montgomery trade) is what they had left to show for it.

Randall, Rollins, Montgomery, Ryan, Hundley, Ripkowski, Ringo, and Backman. What a disaster.

They're getting slaughtered today.

Baltimore released Dirty Harry. (Obviously don't know what they're doing.)
Kofi Amichia released by Panthers.
Dorleant released by Raiders.

**EDIT**
Now Josh Hawkins released by Philly.

Might have to start a separate thread...

I wouldn't count scrubs as some surprising cut.

Yeah, but a year or two ago, they were OUR scrubs.  If nothing else,  Gutenkunst has definitely improved the bottom half of the roster and improved depth.

I sure hope the Packers got rid of the director of college scouting who, along with Ted, presided over that disaster.

Ted was the autocrat who decided what to do. Who knows what Gute thought at the time?

Wasn’t too long ago that the mere mention of a TT failure would get you crucified. Reality has set in.

I’ll say “there was a time TT was pretty damn GREAT!”   But, yeah, lots a fixes needed from the past couple of years....including a new HC.

Even the biggest TT/MM supporters now know that neither of them were worth a flying **** over the past several years.  Both were excellent at some point and probably deserved/earned the extra time... but in the end, they both were here a few years too long and now the organization is dealing with the results of it.

Autocrat?  WTF?  He was the GM of a football organization.

Yes, but my point is blaming ANYONE other than TT, who told everyone he had final word on draft choices, is just plain dumb.

Plain naive is pretending that Gutekunst had no say in that draft. Yes, Ted should get the most blame, but it sure doesn't reflect well on the director of college scouting. And while it's still early, Gutekunst's first draft as GM isn't looking all that good right now. His second-round pick is a backup coming off a poor season. His third-round pick is hurt after an even worse season. And his fourth-round pick will likely be cut tomorrow.

I agree, but the more important thing is to not keep guys around just because of where they were drafted. If you figure out a guy can't play, get rid of him. It's one thing to make a mistake, it's worse to compound it by keeping the guy around. I'd look at it as a good sign if they cut Moore if he is as bad in practice as he appears in games. No more guys hanging around like Carl Bradford, Jason Spriggs, or RichRod.

That's complete bullshit.  You're calling TT an autocrat.  You're saying Schneider, Dorsey, McKenzie, Wolf and Gertwurst were just a bunch of yes men?  Of course he had the final word, he was the GM but you think he didn't listen to input?  You think Gunnysack was telling him Kevin King was a POS and Watt was the only choice that could be made?

If anything TT was a bit soft and too empathetic.

Jesus ****.

The longer anyone is GM it’s got to get tougher to see things with clean vision.

The Draft is a crapshoot. I don’t think anyone here disputes it. Historical data says you miss far more than you hit. No matter how good you are.

The longer you are GM the more likely you are to chase after mistakes. And then chase after those mistakes. Be it the draft or FA signings. It’s human nature.

Being told what you did wrong stays with you longer than being told what you did right. Same reason why football fans remember crushing losses better than the huge wins.

Yes men? No, but I recall TT in a press conference saying he had the final call. Pretty emphatic about that.

Jesus **** now we’re blaming Gute for TT’s **** ups? It’s apparently anyone’s fault but TT’s...Capers, McCarthy, Ball, Murphy, now Gute. I don’t think his administrative assistant made the coffee strong enough and he couldn’t concentrate when choosing between Kevin King and TJ Watt. The custodian probably left a wet spot on the floor and TT slipped and hit his head and that’s why he decided to take a college basketball player in R2 to be his other starting CB. 🙄

The New Orleans Saints are releasing safety Chris Banjo, according to Ian Rapoport. Banjo, 29, had been with the Saints since 2016 and was an integral part of their special teams unit.

Lets get the old Band-jo back together, err no.

Kizer, tough call but Boyle shows more promise. Excited to see current regime is locked in on who best helps team win, not "well, we drafted him or traded for him so..."

Will QB Brian Hoyer's release factor into the mix?

Actually I'm psyched Kizer was cut. He ain't cutting it.

We all knew Crosby was going to be kicking in Soldier Field on Thur, so happy that he is kicking for Packers not Bares.
