If he were that good he would have gotten the Badgers past the first week of the tournament.
He is going to get chewed up and spit out if he declares now. Needs to get bigger and stronger and quicker.
I am sure he will go after the NBA $$ now but I think he would be smart to stay and get better.
Doesn't the NBA have a process where you can get graded and still come back to school?
I think they do as long as you don't hire an agent. There is a deadline before the draft to pull out, not sure when that is this year. With the new NIL he may make more as a college player, especially if he is not a 1st round pick, than if he flames out in the NBA.
Every mock draft I've seen has Johnny Davis being a lottery pick. Most of them have him in the 8-10 range. If he goes 10th, he'll be guaranteed 8 million in his first two years. From everything I can find online, there is probably only one thing that can drop him much lower than this, and that's if he's shorter than his listed 6'5". If that's the case, going back to college isn't going to help with what would end up being his biggest weakness.
I think right now, you would scout him as a guy with a good mid-range game who finishes well at the rim against college guys, has the potential to be a decent shot creator off the drive, and is a least an above average defender. His weakness is his lack of a solid 3 point shot.
The variable in this is whether he will ever develop as a guy that can hit close to 40% of his threes at the NBA level. There is no guarantee that's going to happen, so he might as well get paid 8 million while he works on that part of his game, rather than come back to what's likely to be a pretty weak Badgers supporting cast to get double teamed every game and have the risk of injury.
Agree on the size issue. Even at 6’5” he’s not ideal for a SG or SF and he’s not elite at any aspect of his game - quickness, passing, defending, rebounding, or shooting. To be fair, he’s a good finisher and can hit shots, and he’s gotten better over time. I also think if he applied himself he could become a decent defender.
The part I really worry about with him is he’s been able to create separation and shoot over smaller defenders, but that will rarely happen in the pros as most guys defending him will either be quicker or taller so he won’t get as many easy looks. His ball handling is probably slightly above average.
I think he can be a borderline starter if he gets better and stronger, but he’s likely more of a bench guy at the next level. If he can work on his defense and 3pt shot he could become a solid 3 and D guy but in a good draft he’s probably a mid- 1st round pick like 15-20 range. The fact he’s being talked about as a guy in the 6-10 range is nuts.
Good for Johnny Davis, he is going NBA. Ted Davis on the Wisconsin sports network said JD will make around 20 million a year. Hard to pass that up.

So what’s Jordan gonna do?? 😢. Gonna miss Johnnie.......I which he’d stay at Wisconsin, but as what has been said previously, top 10 pick, the money, and the possibility of injury if he stays. Gonna miss him.

Comparing Davis to Jalen Suggs is laughable. Why, because they are both 6’4”?
Suggs helped lead his team to the title game against Baylor. He was dominant in that game despite the Zags facing a much better and more athletic opponent. Suggs is obviously a better passer and 3pt shooter and played more of a true PG position. He’s also a better athlete.
If Suggs were in this years draft he’d easily be in the top 3 picks.
As for Davis, I don’t blame him for leaving and declaring. It’s about the money and much like Henry Ellenson at Marquette (who had flaws) it’s tough to pass up that guaranteed 1st round money.
