Not bloody likely, but could you just imagine?

Wonderful. I hope heads roll, but I don't think they will.
Are we back in the 70's? Am I in the Twilight Zone?
...too bad I do not feel younger. Damn.
If that were to somehow turn out to be true and "enforced", I'd be done with the NFL, period, end of sentence, full stop, good bye, take your ****ing circus and sell it to someone else.
Honestly, I am on the fence line regarding MM, but Dom and TT must go. If that means MM goes too, then that's fine with me too. If nothing changes next year, I may adjust the use of my time accordingly.
I was thinking the same thing TDOG. No way that will happen; bad for the NFL.
Not necessarily the same situation, but I can never remember a team being forced to surrender a player under contract when a salary cap violation has been found. If the Packers are deemed to have broken the rules, I would suspect the penalty would be to forfeit a fifth round pick or something along those lines.
No worries our qb room is right where we want it
League has to sign off on the IR designation and did. If the Packers violated the spirit of the rule the league was complicit.
I'm not a black helicopter guy and I believe men went to the moon and I think the the Pentagon was hit by a plane but......
Is it possible that AR wanted to play, was healthy enough to play and he went toe to toe with MM and TT strongly with that wish. He was denied the pleasure of beating the Vikings , which would happened even with that wounded, sorry ass team that GB paraded out there last nite. That argument was so intense that AR went to a favored reporter and planted this seed which is everywhere now..
I would think that nothing will come of it but I do think there is enough disenchantment with management and coaches between AR and the rest of the team that the behind the scene machinations are going to be interesting.
I do think Elvis is still alive tho....

Glanville will leave him tickets.
Fitting end to this season of football. Apparently losing draft picks (probably) and not participating meaningfully in free agencyβinstead choosing to fill roles with undrafted free agents that can be βdevelopedββis why the Packers are so successful year after year and win all of those one NFC Championships under MM.

Not when Rodgers is injured, no.

Exactly, once again people jump on board when any hint of mismanagement is mentioned. The Packers cleared this with the league, they did what they were supposed to do, what more do people want?
This is an absolute non story. Nothings going to be done about any of this nonsense.
Packers should release Thompson, McCarthy and his staff...for a variety of reasons--
and although Rodgers won't be released, I agree with the ire of other teams-if you bring Rodgers back for the Panthers, you bring him back for the rest of the year---or everybody going to the games should get a refund and the Packers should donate the television revenues to a charity of my choice......don't throw in the towel---Lindy infante had the graciousness and grit to play for all the marbles in a meaningless game in 1988-against the Vikings no less---which meant we lost out on Troy Aikman--this decision ultimately cost him his job.
It is time for them to go.
The alternative would be to simply suit him up and not play him. Stupid brainfart, in my opinion.
Iβm completely fine with the decision to shut Rodgers down. Whatβs the point of risking more damage to a fragile shoulder? Players have been shutdown for lesser reasons at this time of the year. It happens. A lot. And last night was the first truly meaningless game at Lambeau in almost s decade.
Mike thinking Hundley is a serviceable backup? Thatβs another debate entirely. Because Hundley looked like many things last night. Capable NFL QB not being one of them.

The league had to sign off on this, the other teams bitch is with the league, do you really think we wouldn't get league's approval before doing this?

Ran through my head. Then it ran out. Rodgers has been pretty supportive of MM and staff but everyone has limits.
That Elvis is still alive?
The problem isn't the decision to sit him, it's the mechanics of putting him back on the IR. They know the rules. You don't put him on IR. You declare him inactive. I'm sure once they did it, numerous organizations immediately realized it was improper.
It reeks of incompetence. It's embarrassing.
I figured Capers was the only one on the chopping block this off-season. But the argument against Thompson just got stronger.
Players arenβt placed on IR unilaterally. League has to accept/approve transaction. #AaronRodgers

The league Oked them doing this, which opened up an active roster spot, if league had denied it, they would have just had him inactive the last 2 games....what reeks is people passing judgement without bothering to know the facts, huge problem in our society.

Point taken - thanks.
Only this management could find a way to "cheat" and not benefit from it.

Not arguing with anything that's been said about the league approving the transaction. You are right, Andrew Brandt is right and everyone else who has pointed this out is right. But if the media makes a big stink about it, would it be that surprising for the league to turn around and punish the Packers and make them "take one for the league" because of the NFL's continued ineptitude?
I still don't think anything comes of this but if it does it's probably nothing more than surrendering a late round draft pick. I guess I'll save my whining about that until it actually happens, if it happens at all. Until then I'll just keep complaining about Goodell and his sensational assemblage of flunkies.
Difficult to see why the league would punish the Packers for a transaction they approved prior to it being made. Seifert says a tweaking of the rule may be coming which sounds much more likely.

The NFL office had to approve this prior to him going on IR. If anyone should be held accountable, it's the NFL office.

If the league office didnβt think the **** stink from the Martellus Bennett working his way to New England debacle didnβt warrant anything more than a βnothing to see hereβ press release, they certainly arenβt going to so much as burp a press release over this.

The Matt Flynn game against the Lions at the end of 2011 was meaningless too. Except for Flynn, considering how much money it made him.

Seeing how officiating is breaking again this week towards Patriots - the MB issue is no surprise.
So much for being the anti-Patriots. Now we have nothing to hang our hat on.
Henboy needs to read Andrew Brandt's tweet again.
Doesn't mean the Pack didn't attempt to pull a 'fast one.' And who is to say if Cleveland did this with Joe Somebody they wouldn't get penalized? Methinks the league plays by its own rules.
Story I read says that AR would not have been cleared to play against the Vikings. Yeah, they risked his health for what?
Clean house.
