I'll admit, I wanted Favre to retire. If he truly retired, there's a ZERO percent chance he and the Vikings would win a SuperBowl this year. Now they both have a chance. I honestly consider them the favorites (at least in the NFC).

Now, the other side of the coin, it does make it all that much sweeter if the Vikes do another choke job this year. But both Tampa and New Orleans have won their 1st Super Bowls ever in the past 10 years, and the Vikings could be the next team to break into the winners club. That thought kind of makes me a bit queasy.

This whole scenario that the Diva has assembled the past few years is surreal when you step back and look at it from a distance. He is bad enough. But I think what is the real sore point for me is the compliance from the league itself and the media to enable this nonsense. He is one of the milkiest of their milkcows and it is a business. Some make accusations of the league assisting the cause by convenient scheduling. Hard to disagree with that.

In the end, all of this has to be explained by one of the following.

A) TOG has some for real, serious psychological issues

B) He's just an egomaniacal douchey douche

C) It's all a scripted business plan on the part of the NFL to milk the most revenues possible out of one of the leagues biggest personas.

If Option A is true, I feel sorry for the guy. If B is true, I want to smash him in the face. If C is true, I feel like a complete sucker who has been conned by a false product.

None of these possibilities make me feel any better about the situation. This SUCKS.

Based on what? The fact that the Vikings are huge chokers or that Favre is the biggest choker in NFL history? He hasn't won a road playoff game as a dog since 1995. He has a 4-8 record in the playoffs since the 1997 NFCC game. Three times in his career he has had the ball in his hands to tie or win a Super Bowl or NFCC game. He has blown it all 3 times. He has thrown a season ending INT in 2003, 2007 and 2009.

I dunno, Blueshound, I kinda think it's all of the above...

I'm truly beginning to think that the fix is in, and has been in for some time. I heard some guy on the radio promoting a book which claims as much. I'm sure there have been plenty of books already published on the subject. But his angle was that games aren't necessarily fixed within the game itself, but they are subtly influenced towards a desired end from external means. Questionable scheduling falls perfectly into this theory IMO. He also believes, like others, that the mob is heavily involved.

I agree that things are influenced - I don't know how one could look at the undisputed facts of this situation and conclude otherwise. I like you don't think they sit there in NYC and pick which teams will be in/win the SB in July, but stars get preference, troubled markets get help and ratings and revenue reign.

Let's not forget that (a) Brent is a cash cow, and whether he comes back this year and succeeds or fails spectacularly, the league and the owners make huge cash off that story/drama. I want the Packers to humiliate them so badly that Roger Goodell kicks the vikings out of the league because the conflagration was too embarrassing to the NFL.

Teddy Bruschi on () probably gets fired today.

He didnt hold back saying the "Monday Night Sleepover" was essentially ridiculous, that if he was told to go down there as a player no way would he beg TOG to come back, and that he doesn't feel TOG will have the year he did last year.
