Some posters (Cavetoad, Pakrz, DH13, some others) have commented on the lack of starters playing last night. After a cursory look at some of the other game stats from yesterday, looks like most of the starters (at least those that get stats) played in all of the games, some quite a bit.

So what do you think of last night's personnel decisions? I think I'm in the like camp, mainly because...here it comes...I trust the coaches and what they see on the practice field and the locker room. The decision to play only 7 and 9 at QB both makes sense and puzzles me somewhat.

And, obviously, no chance of getting starters injured if they don't play (OK, yeah, Burks).

Anyway, I thought I'd take it to a thread of it's own.

The starting defense played the whole first half...minus Clay, who was done after 2 series.

No issues at all with sitting most of the starters. Lots of young guys to evaluate especially on offense.

OL depth issues however made it tough to effectively evaluate the young WRs. QBs had no time to establish any rhythm on offense. Im not sure the staff got a lot of useable film out of last night with the exception of Campen. Thought Moore bounced back pretty well.

Didnt see much of Tonyan last night which was a little surprising. Unless the theory is similar to Boyle. Limit the tape and try to bury him on the PS.

Well, we sure got a good look at the backups on the Oline and got to see how well they performed In different positions and combinations. For whatever THATS worth. I guess we got that out of the way. Now it’s evaluation time.

Anyway, I thought the personnel decisions from last night where somewhat telling. The staff went against the grain regarding the whole "third preseason game" thing.

It might be a big deal, and it might translate.

Long time lurker here, first time posting, pass the beer nuts.

I read a few posts about the backup offensive linemen and how their performance directly affects the performance of the skill position players and completely agree.

To be able to see what your backup skill position guys can do against another team's defense in game situations would be beneficial towards determining the final roster, in my opinion.

I think they should have gave Kizer and Hundley a better line to protect them to see if they can be that backup to fill in for a game or two. They had no chance last night.
