What do you guys think of Tony Romo as an announcer?  Everyone was loving the play prediction stuff.  What I find most interesting overall is the insider information he lets out.

Specifically, on Thursday night, when it was reported that Montgomery had a broken rib, he was quick to reveal that coaches don't want that kind of injury report getting out, because opposing players will target the injury.   Nantz was all, "Really?"  and Romo just matter-of-fact goes "Yeah, unfortunately, that's what goes on" or something like that.

If you think about it, that wouldn't just apply to rib injuries, but to all injuries.

It's funny because we have been joking for years about McCarthy under-reporting injuries.  Everyone here always assumed it was for throwing off the opponent's game planning or whatever, or just had some vague idea of not giving your opponent an advantage.  I thought it was enlightening to hear it laid bare like that.  Not sure the NFL would agree.

Romo is definitely a knowledgeable guy.  Almost too knowledgeable?  There was a couple of times Thursday when I was hoping the Bears' DC wasn't watching the broadcast.

Anyway, being from Wisconsin, I do like his Northern accent.  Way better than Al Michaels' Eastern accent.  And the guy is definitely current.

Four weeks into the season and I think he's doing a very good job and will likely only get better.  I think he brings some enthusiasm to the broadcast that wasn't there with Sims and with that does get a little too wordy.  I have the same problem when I see a pathology I haven't seen in a while I'll get to talking and the patient is giving me the that's great just fix it look.

I have some family and friends that think he has done an AWFUL job but I just don't see it.

I think guys fresh from the league still know what they’re looking at and are more interesting to listen to. Simms hasn’t played in 30 years, it shouldn’t be surprising he provided little insight. The game will pass Romo by as well, but his ability to call out play calls is interesting.

I'm from Wisconsin and I ought'a know, it's Blatz, Blatz, Blatz beer... etc.

He may sink or he may swim, but I haven't been irritated so far.

I like him, but I could see where some could hate him.  If you want someone that's polished and brief with their analysis, he's definitely not for you.  But so far, at the very least I have found him interesting and that's something that most analysts really aren't.  I probably am cutting him some slack because he's from Wisconsin, but also because I think he's a pretty likeable guy.

Had Cutler become an announcer, I probably wouldn't have cut him much if any slack at all.

His jittery squirrel energy can be a bit much and he may smooth the edges as he gets a little more comfortable with Nantz.  He doesn't have to fill every second with analysis, no matter how interesting.  Sometimes it's nice just to watch the play unfold and take it all in yourself without having to break every detail down.  Aikman may not be as insightful or instant in his analysis but he usually picks pretty good but limited spots to bring to light.  I love detailed analysis in separate programing like NFL's Playbook series (they've unfortunately ended) but not constantly during a broadcast.  Sometimes predicting the play is interesting and sometimes annoying.  Definitely a step up from most though.

In my job I have to talk to people from all over the world, all of which are forced to speak English.  They all do their best & some apologize when I can't understand them (believe me, there are some HEAVY accents).  My standard reply is absolutely no need to apologize as I can't speak any of your native language.

Point is, I have a hard time criticizing someone for doing something that I can't do.  I couldn't announce an NFL game.  And I certainly couldn't play any NFL position.  (Probably couldn't be a coordinator either.)

Actually the song goes, " I'm from Milwaukee and I ought to know, good ol Blatz beer wherever you go. Kegs, cans or bottles all taste the same, the three best are one beer and Blatz is the name".

He called the Bears TD on Damarious Randall and saw that fade in the EZ coming a mile away. Unfortunately, 3 years in the NFL hasn't taught Randall what was coming. Maybe 23 needs to tape the games Romo calls and learn a lil something.

Romo has been refreshing, but I still don't like his voice.  He's definitely got a Kermit the frog thing going.

His play insight is nice, but he gets quite a few wrong too.  Chucky calls them after they have happened, we'll see how long it takes before Romo gets gun shy on his calls after getting it wrong enough times.

My friend's dog would have been better than Sims.... so yes, he's an improvement.

Well, then put my name on top of the list.  I like Romo quite a bit.  However, I reserve the rights to change my mind, 10 years from now.

Hay...as for his voice,  everyone from Wisconsin sounds funny.  You know?

am I that friend?  and if so, which dog?

Any of them...

But to keep it interesting, let's go Kosmo.  Tanner is a close 2nd.

Oh yeahhh what you mean we sound funny?  What are yooz talking aboat?

Tampa Bay traded up in the second round for Roberto Aguayo in last years draft. Aguayo’s backup plan lost a game last night.

Thats fail on a supreme level.

When asked who was in the room when they told Roberto was being waived Head Coach Dirk Koetter said, “Me, Jason, and Hard Knocks”

I’m of the opinion Koetter isn’t long for the NFL.
