Local sports radio posed this question.

Both are UFA's in 2015. If you could only re-sign one, who would you pick?

BTW, in Tramon's career he's missed 1 start. House has missed several game stretches with shoulder injuries.

2014 cap numbers:

Tramon WilliamsCBUFAGBTBD317$9,500,000

Davon HouseCBUFAGBTBD253$720,145

I was down on Tramon for a while but i'm starting to think that shoulder injury lingered for a long long time.  He is playing great this year, hard to let a guy like that walk.

It all depends on what each guys market value is and if either is willing to take the home town discount.   Reading the articles on JSonline, I think House is just going to go to the highest bidder.

Will see if Tramon wants the coin or wants more rings.

It's pretty hard to trump experience and Williams has plenty of it. Which is what Capers and Dick at Pittsburgh claims they'll take over youth.

I don't know if Boris' prediction would be true that Williams has another 4 years in him but I would buy he at least has another 2, maybe 3. I look back to Woodson. In 2009, he was the best DB in the NFL. In 2010, still fairly dominant. But in '11, a noticeable drop off very quickly.

That'd be my concern with re-signing him at a big contract. My guess is Ted would offer a 3 year deal, heavily loaded in year 1, in the neighborhood of 6-7 mil a year.

And thanks to clown organizations like the Vikings, Redskins, or Raiders Williams will have little desire to sign that. Because we all know they'll grossly overpay.

That makes a lot sense on the experience and the $$ side pboi -

GB still has $7.7 M in cap space for 2014 and both players want to be in GB

House didn't enjoy all the losing at New Mexico State

There's not much of a sample size with House to simply assume he's the next best thing at the CB position.  Up until this season he's been hurt and wildly inconsistent.

Tramon has had a very good career with the exception of about 20 games which I think was related to his injury.   His performance (now) is much more what we've come to expect out of him going back to 2010.

If the dollars were equal and I could only choose one guy I'd pick Tramon.   However, if House can prove the rest of this season is not a fluke perhaps I'd change my mind.

The other factor is Casey Hayward.  Personally, I'd take him over the other two guys in a heartbeat.   It just seems like it's a different defense when he's in there.

He has a knack for getting the ball when he's the 4th CB on the field. I don't know if his coverage skills are up to snuff to be a full time starting CB at this point, yet.

I will never forget the 2010 playoff game against Atlanta. Matt Ryan must have nightmares about the guy. He knocked down at least 4 passes, and took one 70 yards to the house for a TD.

I need to see that kind of ability from House.

Hayward is a star in the making, imo. The guy is a ball hawk. He had the best corner back rating in the NFL as a rookie. That's mighty impressive if you ask me.

The speed of Shields and Burnett (gasp) were sorely missed last night on the carpet.  I hope we can finally stop heaping expectations on Hyde.  He's "a football player" but works best in the dime, not as a starting S.

Hayward's a prototypical zone slot corner where his lack of pure speed is covered.
