FML!

So true, Henry.

@ByRyanWood: McCarthy said more testing will happen, second opinions for Tretter injury. Would not say whether it's surgicial right now.

@ByRyanWood: McCarthy on disappointment of Tretter injury: When I see JC on crutches, I think of him walking in here every day to work since February.

@Packerpedia: McCarthy typically mum on Tretter's injury details, but didn't dismiss the idea of "designated to return IR."

don't like any of this news, especially the second opinion. With this team, I'll be pleasantly surprised if he's not placed on season-ending IR within the next few days

Linsley pick looks so damn big right now. He's been solid in camp, though Tretter clearly earned the starting gig with his play

Oh no, the Packers take their sweet time putting guys on IR. We'll find out if he'll be on season long IR (as opposed to designated to return IR) a few days before the kickoff in Seattle.

More from Wilde. Not ligament. That new-fangled nutritionist needs to start mainlining him calcium.

EDIT: Demovsky reporting it's a knee fracture.

Wilde: According to the league source, Tretter did not suffer any sort of ligament damage in the knee, which would have meant missing anywhere from six to 10 weeks. Instead, the feeling is that he will miss five or six weeks, the source said. The injury is similar to a stress fracture.

Tretter, a fourth-round pick from Cornell last year, missed his entire rookie season after breaking his ankle in the first organized team activity practice in May.

Demovsky:  JC Tretter should not miss more than six weeks with a slight knee fracture.

... on Sunday, the Packers said Tretter will miss "multiple weeks" because of a knee injury he sustained in Friday's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he did not know if the team would use the injured reserve/designated to return distinction, but according to a league source, Tretter's injury should not keep him out any longer than six weeks. A player on temporary IR has to miss eight weeks.

The source said Tretter has a slight fracture and did not sustain any ligament damage. He will not require surgery.
